    Thank you for this video lesson. I am studying BMP at the University Tor Vergata (Rome) in Italy. My Professor uses and teaches contents and topics of your book. Soon I will approach GM exam. It is very helpful studying from your book "Fundamentals of BPM" and integrate reading with your video-lessons. Let say it in this way: it is "value added". Thanks a lot Professor Dumas

    Hello @Marlon Dumas,
    Thank you for the great lecture! Keep it up!
    I would suggest to use sequence instead of set, so I would define a process as a sequence of events, activities, decision points rather than as a set of events, activities, decision points. Because the ordering of the elements(here, events, activities, and decision points) in a set doesn't matter.

      Thanks, good point. In the slides and book I use the term "collection" to be neutral. While in administrative or office processes activities are generally deterministically ordered, there are also many processes, e.g. in the fields of healthcare, product design, and creative industries, with very high levels of flexibility in the ordering of activities. But you are very right: I should avoid the term "set" in this definition. Thx.

    What tools do you use for process documentation? Would you recommend something like Proper Channel?

    • @MarlonDumas
      @MarlonDumas  8 років тому +2

      Proper Channel or similar tools are great for documenting procedures or task performance guidelines. However to document processes (i.e. assemblies of tasks, decisions and events performed by people across an enterprise), a more widespread practice is to use tools that support the BPMN standard, for example BIC Design, Bizagi Modeler, Signavio or ARIS. One can combine the two, i.e. use a BPMN-based tool to document the end-to-end process and tools such as Proper Channel to document the procedures and guidelines associated to individual tasks.
