- The Island Line runs from Ryde Peir Head to Shanklin on the Isle of Wight, UK. It is a rather unique system, featuring the Peir section between Ryde Esplanade and Ryde Peir Head, where passengers can connect with ferries to Portsmouth Harbour train station on the mainland! The stations along the line and single track running give the look and feel of a heritage railway whilst using modern electric rolling stock. This video also features Smallbrook Junction station, which has no external access and is only used to interchange between the electric and steam railways.
Unfortunately, the old Class 438 trains, which were made from old 1938 Stock Tube trains, have now been retired. They have been replaced with Class 434 trains, which fittingly, are made from highly refurbished, D Stock tube trains!
