- Disclaimer: I don't own Darkstalkers. But if the behavior of the current owners over the years is anything to go by, the people who do have the rights to the series at the moment are a bunch of morons who don't deserve that privilege.
Happy Halloween, everyone! I figured that for my next compilation, I'd try putting together the different versions of the opening for the Darkstalkers OVA (aka Night Warriors Darkstalkers Revenge, aka Vampire in Japan), since even though it's only 4 episodes long, each episode has a different narration accompanying it, plus the animation and music for the fourth episode's intro is entirely different. Regardless, I hope I did a decent job editing this, for I really wanted to do my part to give tribute to this charming series. So please...accept my invitation. Come...and embrace the dark! - Фільми й анімація
If I ever win the lottery, I would make a sequal series to this OVA.
That makes two of us!

@@BOmb78900 Make that the 4 of us
At 2:00: "They say this world was created by the light. What was it then that caused the dark to be created?"
That is a very thought-provoking question. However, how can light exist without darkness? And how can we have a day without a night? And how can there be righteousness without sin?
Intro 1 - Demitri Maximoff
Intro 2 - Donovan
Intro 3 - Morrigan Aensland
Intro 4 - Pyron
Jon’s my favorite
While I did enjoy this OVA series, I was still bummed that not only were Anakaris, Rikuo, Sasquatch and Victor were relegated to only appearing in the openings but also in the last episode, they only show up just to be killed by Pyron to show what a huge threat he was.
You and me both!
Maybe the producers wanted to give the OVA a certain number of episodes?
I agree, I wish those characters in the anime more.
@@dtlegacy2495 yup! At least for 1 or 2 extra OVA episode(s)
I don’t think they were killed.
I will embrace the dark.
anime is gorgeous work of art.
They managed to beautifully animate each and every character's moves, as well as stay faithful to them designs of each and every move.
That description is 100% accurate. Makes you think about the current state of Capcom doesn't it.
On a much lighter note, I loved this OVA, but a huge flaw was the absence of Rikuo, Anakaris, Sasquatch, and Victor. Those characters deserve the spotlight just as much as the other half of the cast. Seeing Rikuo's Gem's Anger or Tounge Lash attacks would certainly be a sight to behold. Ugh, all the characters have such beautifully crafted attacks, I probably shouldn't worry about what they would look like in Madhouse style... Thanks for putting this together though, Darkstalkers will continue to live on in the hearts of it's fans!
They've been getting a BIT better with things such as Devil May Cry 5, but there's a reason they keep getting spotlighted on Matt McMuscles' channel.
The OVA is far from perfect, but dang if it isn't fun! Invitation to the Charm of Darkness and Trouble Man are just great pieces of music, the art style is so fitting, the characters who do appear are an utter delight, and the fight scenes are super enjoyable to watch! Not only would I love to see these characters brought to life Madhouse or other top notch animation studios, Jedah's attacks in MvC Infinite (actually, Jedah as a whole in that game is a delight, and one of the few things I enjoyed about. I mean, his characterization, the way his attacks were translated into 3D, and the fact that they got Pyron's VA from the OVA to voice him in said game shows that at least someone who worked on it truly cares about the franchise) and the Darkstalkers Are Not Dead trailer SHOWS this quirky cast can make the jump to 3D if Capcom would actually give it a shot. But nope, they decided to deem Resurrection a failure without offering any evidence to back said claim up. I actually wrote up a whole spiel on the matter a few years ago and posted it on a few different sites, but I've been debated whether to do a reading of that or a free verse poem I wrote about Darkstalkers for this year's Halloween and which to save for next year's.
I do agree completely about the absence of Rikuo, Anakaris, Sasquatch, and Victor. And it looks I've found a fellow Rikuo fan! Awesome!
It was my pleasure! Let's all keep doing our part to keep this series alive, even if it's just in the hearts of the fans!
@@LinkSeasonMaster isn't Capcom still one of the few gaming companies that make animated movies and shows? i think of Resident Evil being on netflix or something? I think of SFIV's Juri movie and such. They didn't have to make those but they did.
The idea that Donovan can defeat Pyron is immensely laughable.
Classic, Happy Halloween 🎃👻🦇🕸😌👍❤️💎
Those nice, origami-making, tea-sipping, garden-tending Japanese. This series really epitomizes their peaceful and contemplative nature.
what man
@@somenothing7914 I was just making fun of the general, or traditional, image of the Japanese people as slender and peaceful, with an orderly society and a low crime rate, etc., in light of the wild violence displayed in these intros and the series. I mean, they bow and wear uniforms at school, and have trains that arrive within a few seconds of when they are supposed to, and you get one picture of them -- then you see an intro that features blood, doll decapitations and an evil voice saying: "This world seems drunk on the elixir of madness!" It's a weird contrast.
@@polarvortex3294 hahaha yeah,, i c what u mean. things have not always been so orderly and cute in japan tho, or at least portraying that image,, which is really only a recent thing… even still, societal norms dont really show how ppl r personally feeling… u can bet n bigger cities too like tokyo especially there’s still crazy shit that goes on.. even small towns too i guess why not… that country/area has had a very crazy and tumultuous history tho, especially just of the last few hundred years.. it is crazy how violent their shit it tho lol, bcuz yeah truly their country does seem very calm and peaceful.. i fo hear there’s a lot of pressure for conformity tho which sucks
@@polarvortex3294 funny you said that. Yukio Mishima said that the Japanese had lost their warrior pride and spirit.
@@SIGNOR-G I've read about him. He had a point, for sure. But I must say, in my opinion, this conflict between contrasting social vibes has been going on in many societies ever since the dawn of civilization. I've even thought (thus far, only in my head) of writing a book on it someday, to be called "The Longest War." It's basically a battle over who is to be society's heroes. It's the merchants, the palace courtiers, men of the togas and bath houses, etc. and many women, whom I call as a class the "effetes," vs those whom I call the "warriors and their women." In ancient times I suppose it was no contest. The heroes in all the old books and legends were warriors, mostly. And when push came to shove they could violently suppress any effete challengers. But even in the legends there were clever tricksters. And as far back as Sumeria power often shifted to those with manicured nails -- people who labored over clay tablets instead of smithy fires. I get the sense that, nowadays, the effetes can finally see the day dawning when they will gain permanent control. During WWII the warriors still ruled, but... their numbers are fewer than ever, relatively. And behind the scenes the effetes were busy. With each passing year, the warriors and their women have been ever more constrained by red tape and demasculating social imagery. The role of women, as women, has also been savaged. It's kind of a myth that at heart the effetes are more gentle. They simply wield power of a different kind. And they have not forgotten their long years in the shadows -- their humiliation. I'd say that their ultimate dream is not to rule unchallenged, with the warriors and their women as drudges and slaves, but to rule alone, over a land filled with their own kind exclusively.
Anyway, that's how I see it. 🙂
I loved these intros and the narrations!!
Agreed!
Morrigan's was by far the best lol

I remember watching this back in the day when I got into the Darkstalkers video games right after I watched the American cartoon in the 90s, but some reason the animation and the music sounds exactly the music from gundam wing
As far as the music is concerned, I can confirm that Kow Otani composed songs for both the Darkstalkers OVA as well as Gundam Wing. He has a very distinct style, so I am not surprised you picked up on that.
Thanks for the compilation of this ova intros! Love it to this days despite some rough edges.
Glad you enjoy it!
happy 30th anniversary darkstalkers!!! :3
alongside street fighter 2:the animated movie(especially with how much capcom acknowledges it to including the singer of the final battle's theme in 6.) would love a sequel to the ova's/more anime of other capcom series in this style as these were so great(both tied as my favorite video game adaptations period.) & a lot of the ova's story could lead into a foundation for a vampire savior ova.
I recommend to anybody to watch the "No Filler" cut of this OAV movie on my channel (just read the video description of it to get it)
Thanks So much for puttin' this!!!
Great series & Great Intros 👍
I'm glad you enjoyed it, and it was a pleasure putting together this compilation for such a fantastic franchise!

There are No Dee, B.B. Hood, Jedah, Lilith and Q-Bee in Darkstalkers OVA Version!
The OVA was made in 1995. B. Hood, Jedah, Lilith and Q-Bee only showed up two years later.
This OVA series was based on the Night Warriors ~Darkstalker’s Revenge~ game, not the Vampire Savior one.
@@hectoralarconhabif2590 True!
Pyron sounds a lot like Megatron.
He's apparently voiced Megatron more than a few times. Great catch!
@@LinkSeasonMaster the only one I can think of is Beast Wars.
@@TheDragonninja1983 I watched some of the Transformers series afterwards, like Armada, so I definitely know him as Megatron in that particular iteration.
@@TheDragonninja1983
David Kaye who voiced Megatron in Beast Wars voiced him here.
@@DemonicRemption And he would go on to voice Jedah in Marvel vs Capcom Infinite.
This > The Cartoon.
I've honestly not had the courage to watch the cartoon yet, though maybe someday I will....Preferably with backup to help me riff through the whole thing. I have heard that Scott McNeil is pretty entertaining as Lord Raptor (much like he was here in the OVA), so hopefully that will help me get through it.
@@LinkSeasonMaster I would say it's one of those "It's so bad it's good" shows. The production house behind it, Graz Entertainment, animated some very low-brow scenes. Though the voice acting is decent, and every now-and-then a line of dialogue can make you smirk.
I find both of them as bad for opposite reasons.

Hello!!
Morrigan is the most pathetic capcom villain ever.
Morrigan Aensland is the main protagonist of the Darkstalkers game.
Just to be clear she's not the villain.
Pyron, also known as the "Lord of the Living Flame", is the main antagonist. He's the villain of the Darkstalkers game.
