While Moody gives off Hufflepuff traits, he is also extremely brave, which is a Griffyndor trait. He is also very intelligent, which might put him in Ravenclaw. Like, the Sorting Hat decided Hermione to be a Griff, but not after debating Ravenclaw for her as well.
