- Panorama Final night in 1984 was a night of a number of memorable steelband performances, and WITCO Desperadoes placed forth with this arrangement of Winsford Devine's composition "The Jammer" as performed by calypsonian Baron.
This performance by Desperadoes Steel Orchestra is a classic Clive Bradley arrangement that brings out the true Desperadoes sound and musical attitude.
I thought that Bradley deliberately chose a tempo and rhythm with this arrangement to convey the impression of a musical jam, which may or may not have gotten across to the judges, but all in all I think it was an outstanding performance , in spite of the fact that I've heard that Despers encountered some problems on stage.
You may also at time 6:23 catch a glimpse of the band's legendary former leader , the late Rudolph Charles.

Bradley was a trail blazer! I think he helped modernize Panorama.

CHARLO foot was broken the most disorganized year the trail wasn't feeling well everything was off but the music was rite

Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe THis is the year Despers got into final by court order..the tune was under appreciated because in prelims it was utter rubbish...by the time the tune was truly finished it was a real transformation...Everyone was surprised by what bradley had done with it...but the damage was already done..if i am correct on this it woud explain the lack of stage attire by band on final night..
1982 (Party Tonight) the band didn't place in prelims but one judge put the wrong song title on their score sheet which the band took to court and got in as a result. Maybe that is what you're talking about.
No musician would describe anything Bradley did in the 80's as utter rubbish, no matter what stage in the competition.
ONE OF THE JUDGES MADE A MISTAKE WITH THE SCORE SHEET AND GIVE DESPERS THE WRONG SCORE AND PISSED-OFF RUDOLF CHARLES 😠💪🤕😡🙊🙈lol and the rest is history.
