My theory-- Line 6 knows Tonex is capable of making a great floor unit that could dethrone them…. Therefore, Line 6 is going to wait until Tonex releases a floor unit, so that they can make sure the “Helix 2” stays competitive. I agree with HW. Line 6 can’t compete with the Tonex AI, therefore, open source NAM and they will wait for Tonex Floor to come out, observe what Tonex made, and then try to beat the Tonex Floor in terms of features, usability, price, user experience, etc
If ToneX get their floor unit out like "now" which has proven better captures than Kemper, QC and second only to NAM , it would take Line6 12-18 months to develop a product to get to market. That is a lifetime, I would buy the ToneX product in a heartbeat because I need something now not in late 2026. Then a new a new Helix becomes a moot point. Yes, NAM is great, but, there is just nothing on the horizon mixing NAM and lots of effects, even the Dimehead is extremely light on in FX, just delay and Reverb and only one type. I can't understand why it is taking so long maybe the integration process isn't as easy as everyone thought it would be or impossible

I’ve been in manufacturing for decades. I was a master machinist and moved on to other things in manufacturing. I’ve been lucky enough to work for a few companies that were number one in the world. What makes them number one is the focus on what they produce. Producing the best product in the most efficient way is what gets them there. I can say just by looking at but not even playing is that Sire is something to watch. Just look at NAMM this year. Totally blown away every other manufacturer.
I agree with your assessment. I appreciate companies that are dedicated to quality products over profit. Watching the history of companies like Fender and Gibson shows what happens during the periods where they let the bean counters make the business decisions. A 335 is in my future and it will probably be a Sire.

IMO the move would be to add this to the current platform. Add ai/functionality to the editor the 'profiles' your a.p but uses that data to select and dial in the match from their current library of amps and cabs. Picks the amp that responds the same. Sets the deep Paramus to do so. Sets the gain, BMT, other options. Picks the cab, mic, position, etc. Voila. You have amp all dialed in to feel/sound like what you 'profiled'.

I think this or next year, Strymon is going to release a triple switch version of the Iridium. More amps, space for 99 IRs with knob to select your IR, para EQ options, Amp versatility options like a jumped AC30, and additionally their own version of tone capture built in

Line 6 has always been ahead of the game. Companies now are using IOS apps to control pedals etc with no screen, Line 6 did this years ago with the Amplifi series. People now are using tube power amps with modeled preamps, Line 6 did this years ago with the DT series of amps. Even with the Variax series... no one else is really doing that. I think I'd be really cool if they used NAM captures. I actually speculated this before. I do hope that the next device can make captures. I think that's what's so cool about the QC and the Nano. You don't need another rig to make captures. If Line 6 doesn't end up using NAM on the next generation modeler, I do think they are going to have something truly "game changing" based of their history..
Being a HX Stomp user for over 4 years, I've been suggesting that Line 6 add the ability to use/load NAM Profiles, Models, and IRs. Speaker IRs are mostly agnostic, and should be importable, though I haven't tested it myself. I think there should be a feature in "HX Edit" that will convert a NAM Amp Capture into a format that can be loaded into a NAM "Block" in Line 6 Modelers. Even though Line 6 has loads of Amps, Cabs, Effects, etc., and incredible capabilities and features, it is losing the "appearance" of being relevant because it doesn't have any Capture tech. I think this is an "advertising" missed opportunity, and they should remedy it immediately, whether or not that technology is actually useful. Customers think it is.
I agree with this. My dream keeper when I bought it would be a Stage with no cap tech..a tad smaller and cheaper, but not the player…cool unit, but I love the full power of the Stage, just don’t need the cap tech.
The new Sonicake pocket ($60 USD) just got an update where it can load NAM profiles. I think if a company like Sonicake are doing it lots of others will just include the feature. Line 6 could probably do it in an update for hx stomp/current gen helix
I got a Helix right when they came out, I’ve been using it live ever since. I have been waiting and waiting for an H2 to come out and I just bought a Quad because of this election and possible tariff increases on music gear so for me personally I wish H2 was ready this Xmas because now it will be ages before I can get something else when the helix 2 was what I really wanted. Hope they don’t miss the window
I much prefer a good amp model over a capture. Maybe the future isn't for me lol. Helix will be around for a few more years at least and they have done an amazing job with product support and development. My Helix rack is a better product in 2025 than it was 5 years ago when I got it. The new Line 6 flagship model will probably be something else. I don't think we see it this year or next. I can say for sure that the newest Helix update, the amp models are pretty terrific and the cab/mic modeling has made huge leaps. I'm sticking with Line 6 for now.
Maybe they could even add the functionality of loading NAM captures to their existing products if they wanted, but yeah they are falling behind and many of their products starts to feel a bit dated.
You should wear a tin foil hat just to bring the conspiracy point home bit more. :). Line 6 will bring a Helix 2 out as they are about due, after they are convinced they have milked their current products via repackaging and hyping and the "newest" POD shiny object wears thin.
I tried Neural Amp Modeler with the Irig HDX, and it just wouldn't work. I fiddled around with the settings, and eventually I got to the point where it was nothing but screeching feedback. I recently picked up a Harley Benton DNAfx Git Core, just to dip my toes into the modeling world. So far I like it. I haven't had a chance to really get in depth at what it can do, but so far so good. You mention Yamaha. I'd like to know your thoughts on Yamaha guitars, especially the Revstar. It is quite literally one of the best guitars I've ever owned... and I absolutely HATE IT. Why? The color. Swift Blue? I thought it was unique when I bought it, but now I open the case and I absolutely abhor that big, Papa Smurf blue staring back at me. I think that's part of what has been holding Yamaha back in terms of the electric guitar market. They're great guitars, but they're aesthetically UGLY. The color selection across the entire range is pretty abysmal. Hot merlot? Flash green? Neon yellow? The best colors are black, red copper (which isn't sold in the US), and the "vintage" white. Another problem? They're signature artist is Matteo Mancuso. He's a great player, but he's just "big on UA-cam", and there's a ceiling to that. They would need to get the guitar into the hands of someone like Rusty Anderson of the Paul McCartney band, to get it in front of more eyeballs. I think this is a case where the design and the marketing aren't in sync with each other. At least that's my take on it.
Pod Express? lol the Sonicake Pocket Master blows all of them away and its 65 bucks! I had all the PE's and gave them away. I didnt think they sounded all that great and as cool as the interface is, they are not all that funcional. The Pocket Master has an LED screen, and its onboard interface is actually really easy to use. The cell app works flawlessly via bluetooth, the PC manager app allows you to import and export NAM files along with custom IR's plus full rigs. The PE cant do any of that! and its FX are very limited. The SPM has features of a full blown modeller, plus can play NAM files and it fits in your pocket. It will soon be plug and play ready with the M Vave Chocolate as well. So you can insert an Exp pedal and control any FX block plus have full control over the SPM via the Chocolate. Hopefully they add scenes with gapless switching and this thing will be ready to gig with. Id have zero issue gigging one if could do that. This things truely is a game changer and once us devs get ahold of them you all are going to see some shit. Custom 3D printed pedal board have arrived!!
Biggest letdown of NAMM this year. Line 6 really has me looking at them differently because they've spent the last 10 years of R&D focusing on a dozen different smaller/cheaper options that are erroneous, while letting their flagship product fall so far behind. This has opened my eyes a bit and I think the modeling world is looking more and more like a dog forever chasing it's tail. I've got a Helix and owned the Axe Fx III--neither are worth their price in how the amps play. You get good recorded tones out of them regardless, but when you go to every forum and inevitably see consistent posts inquiring "how do I get it to feel right/more realistic?", yet we've spent 1500-3000 bucks on this stuff, it says to me we're all in denial with ourselves about how good modeling, objectively, is. Modelers are great devices in the sense that they solve the issue of convenience, but there's this never-ending struggle among the users with trying to get them to respond the way we are accustomed to with real amps. Until something TRULY significant comes about with modelers, I'm pretty much over them.
Totally agree on this, use my Helix with my tube amp just for the effects, but I’m curious what they can come up with in the future, no game changing yet…
@@JHPRS I bought it used and the previous owner changed the pups to these ones with this trem that is sort of like a Bigsby. It connects to the posts and feels great!
I somewhat disagree. I think that Line6 can lean into modeling and become the undisputed king of that space, which I'd argue they already are. I think for capture folks they can't understand why anyone would rather modeling, but for me as a modeling fan...I'm not into captures. At least as it operates now. I like when an amp is modeled and we pretend the knobs etc act as they are on the real amp. The area where they can improve IMO is interface. Headrush using the representative image of the real thing is a huge +++ for the unit IMO and that's where I'd like to see line6 go. The HX Effects is the unit I use most...imagine if that thing had an image of a tubescreamer instead of just the scribble strip now. I've already decided I will pay for that upgrade when/if it comes
Major 2 into a 5? isn't that a 4? A is the 4 is it not? I hate to ask in from of all these thousands of people but if I were there and no one was listening I would ask " what do you mean " If the Key is E Major then the A is the 4. If that F# were Minor then you could think of it as the Key of A. When are you going to talk about" the tone is in the hands " ?
I am not at all disparaging Line 6, I think they have created the most iterations of a great product and delivered it at price point that beat the competition and only they can hit. As I said in the video they have created a ton of value for customers. I did say they are in last place when it comes to capture tech but that’s not a knock, it’s just an observation as they are the only ones that don’t have it. Fractal as tone matching which isn’t capture either but it is a match. They are the only “big name” in digital that hasn’t done capture tech. It wasn’t meant to be a knock but that I think they will jump in in a big way and I bet they will see the development of their own proprietary tech is not something they need to do.
BAD BRAD know how to listen to what he's programming... like me, he has spent a lifetime using the tools he had to achieve what we to hear... Line6 builds superior product for the working player... you go ahead and chase capture tech, AI will wring the life out of creativity...
I can't understand the "why" for "tone capture"... the laziness implied by the the fact that players would rather copy a tone, than discover their "own" sound... Buying presets is lazy.
Many players get a tone capture unit to capture THEIR OWN sound and have it availalbe in a more portable format. Besides, tone is in the fingers anyway so two players playing the same capture/preset/rig will sound different :)
I'm still waiting to hear about the Tonex Floor.
Me too!
Add me to the list.
An editor will be released soon for the Tonex, but no new machine is on the horizon.

Totally agree on this, use my Helix with my tube amp just for the effects, but I’m curious what they can come up with in the future, no game changing yet…
If it doesn't have some form of liquid profiling, it won't be worth it
Which model of Sire guitar is in this video? I can't find one that looks just like it. :)
Does look nice, doesn’t it. I like the one uncovered zebra pickup with the covered bridge pickup. I am thinking the neck pickup may be a replacement.
It is an H7 with an added trem. Sounds great!
@@JHPRS I bought it used and the previous owner changed the pups to these ones with this trem that is sort of like a Bigsby. It connects to the posts and feels great!
@@ToneJunkieTV nice, I have seen that trem system before. It doesn’t permanently alter the guitar with holes.
Yup it’s a 4. Good catch
Line 6 / Yamaha should just buy IK / ToneX
Right...
You spend a lot of time disparaging Line 6...
The amount of cognitive dissonance I have felt from hearing you talk about NAMs in the wake of the NAMM festival...😂
