RC and James were the last to "sell out" to a 4-stroke. This is 5 years into the 4-strokes, and RC won every moto of the series, (did it twice, and missed a 3rd by one moto to Tim Ferry). Rc, after 10.5 years pro, (21 different series), retired with a win average over 83%. (combined SX and MX). It did not matter what he rode. :)
6:47 I am up on the top bench of that new bleacher section, (Best place to stand on the national circuit back then. Can see about 95% of the track, and a $20.00 bill reserved your seat), right next to RC's Mom, (her paid spot, by my luck). She was up there with a clip board and stop watch every time RC was on the track, (about 2 hr. total for the day), and I bugged her the whole time, (chatter box). Nice lady. :)
I was up there too,I was sitting next to bill gates Donald trump and all the other billionaires, also I was the one who caught Ricky's Cr250 after he threw it out in the crowd like a fender stratocaster
@@rapscallion3421 I wasn't kidding. When that bleacher section went up, several of the pit brass would be up there because you could almost see the whole track. One other year, I kicked Michael Bern's mechanic (Kawasaki), out of my seat. Back then, a spot on the top row, ($20.00 extra), was "first come, first serve", and my buddy liked to get to the track early. That section is gone now, (such a good vantage point), and I don't think I have been there since around 2002.
@@EarthSurferUSA 😂 Michael berns? You mean Mikey brown riding team green for Mitch from pro circuit? If you are going to come on UA-cam and make up fantasy story’s you need to get the names right at least. As someone who was very active in this sport in the late 90s I promise you you would not be kicking Mikey brown’s mechanic out of his seat, brown and his crew were some of the hardest dude to ever be on a motocross track. They would not of let this happen. I PROMISE
Watching this video, how can they still justify 4 stroke are more efficient and faster than 2 stroke ? It has always been a big money for the spare parts stores.
Initially it was sold as cleaner emissions and less noise pollution. Obviously, they're WAY more expensive to maintain than a two stroke, and harder for the average DIY mechanic to work on. I remember four strokes coming on the scene, and I hated them then, and still don't like them now
That cr250 looked like a really fast bike!
