  • In this presentation, William Schaberg, author of "Writing the Big Book," presents the historical, religious and cultural context needed to fully appreciate and understand how and why Bill Wilson wrote this particular chapter and how he understood it to fit into the emerging overall format of the Big Book. Having promised a full exposition of “the solution” in “There Is A Solution”, Bill now devotes this entire chapter to convincing the alcoholic to set aside his prejudice and willingly adopt faith in a Power greater than himself… that being the necessary first step on the path to recovery.

Thanks, Bill I was relieved of my hopeless state of mind on 01/20/1991 by His Grace, and that was before I ever stepped into a room of AA. I was so glad to find those rooms and Bill's writings, I knew I was not alone. The greatest gift I found in Bill Wilson's writings was finding the greatest Physician who ever lived to save my soul.

Now that was fun. Thanks it is nice to see someone else that found Wilson's style of writing interesting.

Hi Bill. I happened on your channel through another site, and thank you so much for this series. It's just what I need right now, and will help with bridging the gap that we had with NAAAW. Thanks again, Bill. I look forward to sharing your knowledge and insight on historical accuracy.

The first half is a rehash of the "More About Alcoholism" that I watched last night. I don't know if they used the same scripts, but it was close. Nothing new here. The bits about "We Atheists" are straight from the book. IMHO, this is not up to the quality of Bill's other presentations.
