The Sims is one of those games that you play over and over and never get tired even if it's old! In The Sims3 i love to waste time customizing everything! it's a nice little detail that was needed :)
honestly I feel like the mundane things are one of the best things about the sims. the first time my sim got acne I was thrilled lmao. I feel like it makes it more realistic, which makes it more immersive and complex, especially when they add up and eventually become a disaster (that's the best part). yeah, part of the sims is about escape, about being able to do crazy things you can't do in real life. but if it feels too perfect or too divorced from reality it's not really doing it's job well enough, so the mundane stuff kinda keeps that integral balance in tact.
Absolutely loved this video. The sims 3 was a big part of my childhood. I love that Tony got to marry the iconic Bella Bachelor before she went missing. Also I lost it when Eddy found the kids on the ground and said "with the newspaper?!"
Gameplay wise is very different, especially when we compare The Sims 3 mood system that made emotion much more stable and act as a buff for their subjective well-being, than The Sims 4 emotion system that easy to be manipulated and conditioned. Also, sims from The Sims 3 are able to maintain their own needs than in other version, combined with slower needs decay. I'd say much more forgiving for the newbie simmer.
Okay as someone who has grown up on the sims 3 and 4, the difference is quite astounding aside from just the graphics. The sims 3 generally has more gameplay options and variety. Sims can carpool to work or drive their cars, they can also catch butterflies and wander around an open world. Sims 3s greatest appeal imo is the gameplay and also the amount of customization you can get with the colorwheel and create a style. Sims 4 is by far much easier in terms of gameplay and feels a little simpler but has its advantages. Its items and cas all have items that are more current (the sims 3 has some wild hairstyles). The sims 4 I think thrives more in its CAS and Build Buy rather than gameplay which also tends to be glitchy at best. Another huge difference is just the interface. I prefer the sims 4 camera much more than the sims 3 one since I feel more control with it. Back to gameplay, in the sims 3 the game has more autonomy so each playthrough could go vastly different from others depending on the random variables meanwhile the sims 4 you have to cultivate what happens a little more to add variety. Sorry for the long ramble :) Hope this helps
I legitimately play the sims in a way that exclusively makes life as difficult as possible for as many sims as possible. Theres a whole cursed family save - it makes me feel better about how things are going for me
There’s a lot I could say about the sims but the biggest thing is that I play on the PS3 still (only available option for me rn) and have been for probably almost a decade, and it still holds up both in entertainment and functionality. I love it, and tho some aspects bug me, I’ve probably spent as much time on it as I have Minecraft, which I’ve had on the same console for probably just as long and enjoyed just as much
One of the things that really helps with the daily grind is unlocking wishes that make the hunger and hygiene bars empty slower and remove the need to go to the toilet. You can deal with those things at the start of the game, and when you grow tired of the micromanaging you can remove those and focus on other things. I love this game to bits. The sims 3 in particular. But I think many simmers have fond memories of the craziness and newness of the sims and the extensive graveyards of the Sims 2 before you got to explore a whole neighborhood.
I gotta say, I was enjoying the video for the first minute, and actually getting a little stressed out by the whole taxes/jail thing; but the moment those energetic strings came in from the beginning of the sims 3 theme, I was physically smiling. The vibe of the Sims is just so... something. It can be stressful at times, sure, but atmosphere of the game usually is about optimism, about things being weird and strange but interesting and compelling.
3:50 I had a similar moment of realisation once. In the game, I was finishing my third novel as a writer, while in real life my novel wasn't going anywhere. It was that day I quit The Sims and never returned. I think The Sims just isn't fun as an adult. 😄
The way you describe the mundane tasks as boring and tedious is fascinating to me because I am a very family oriented simmer. A lot of my gameplay is just the normal day to day of their lives, and I like micromanaging to an extent. But, I also grew up playing with sets of family dolls more than I played video games of any kind. I’m sure that is a huge reason for the different gameplay styles!
If you were a policeman with a very good level, you could have arrested the thief yourself because good level In careers unlock many hidden interactions. You could have also fought him
The Sims 3 theme always gives me a mini heart attack now because I made the mistake of making it my ringtone. Now I hear it and I feel like my phone is ringing even though I know its not. 🙃😂
Really great job with the channel, guys! I enjoy each episode more and more to the point that I enjoy them equally as much as Eddy's main channel videos. I think the tone, narration, and overall storytelling especially deserves praise
spending months rebuilding entire towns and homes was therapeutic for me. I wish I didn't sell my computer. I used hella mods and cheats just to avoid the mundane parts.
Additionally, the fun with Sims comes from the fact that. You can live out a completely different life than the one you currently have. In Sims I can be a criminal master mind who sacrifices his enemies to his garden, or a science deviant trying to get laid by aliens. Sometimes, we often wonder "what if" and I find the Sims is a great way to just playout our own personal alternate realities.
My experience with The Sims was enjoying setting it all up but then pretty quickly becoming "NO, STOP GOING TO THE BATHROOM FOR A POOP - THE KITCHEN IS ON FIRE I TOLD YOU!". "NO, STOP PUTTING OUT THE KITCHEN FIRE THE CAR PICKING YOU UP IS LEAVING!" And I got really stressed out and stopped playing. I haven't done well in adult life subsequently - I just bail out because it's stressful.
Yeah when I streamed the sims for my friends, it was funny at first making my sim fight with everyone, but then I actually had to *be responsible* and it was boring but also really infuriating when he didn't cook and instead decided to troll the forums
This happened to m in the sims 4 but one of the craziest shit that has happened to me was that after finally finishing a sim that took me a whole day just to make (+ another day making the house) and when i start my games i always like to cook FIRST and i made toast and eggs and then my sim caught on fire, and JUST STAYED THERE TO DIE THEY DIDNT EVEN TRY THE OPTION WAS STUCK
nooo the mundane bits are fun sometimes like making my sim brush their teeth was a special little activity and they got the minty breath moodlet i liked that
My sims boyfriend adopted a child randomly. So I married him and moved in with him. I lasted 2 days. Between getting them all to go to work and getting him to go to school, feeding them, showering them, getting them to complete work/school tasks, I had my sim move out 💀. as someone whos only played the Sims 4 im astounded by how many awesome features are just absent from that game
Whats diff between 2, 3, and 4? Just got graphics improvements?
Sorry for the long ramble :) Hope this helps
oh my god that ending lmao. This was a great video, thank you Burback Twins!
the best part about sims was the clothing and material customizer!! it brought so much more than the current sims 4 options
Sims 2 has the best lore and gameplay, Sims 3 is cool because the open world, and Sims 4 is the best for CAS and graphics.
"You locked the whole family in a box?"
Oh I loved the book (adapted into a movie by the same name) Room by Emma Donoghue.
These boys really rawdogging the sims 3 in the year of our lord 2022
No cheat codes, no expansions, no mods even for performance, NOTHING
Not even the smooth patch or the 4gb patch. Truly, i fear him
avoiding doing the dishes and having to be reminded to take a shower before work is the thing that keeps the immersion for me tbh just like real world
I gotta say, I was enjoying the video for the first minute, and actually getting a little stressed out by the whole taxes/jail thing; but the moment those energetic strings came in from the beginning of the sims 3 theme, I was physically smiling.
Always a good day when you get to spend time with the Burback boys
The way you describe the mundane tasks as boring and tedious is fascinating to me because I am a very family oriented simmer. A lot of my gameplay is just the normal day to day of their lives, and I like micromanaging to an extent. But, I also grew up playing with sets of family dolls more than I played video games of any kind. I’m sure that is a huge reason for the different gameplay styles!
If you were a policeman with a very good level, you could have arrested the thief yourself because good level In careers unlock many hidden interactions. You could have also fought him
Queueing tasks and fast forward are the most important game features for live mode
I remember this game being fun, then I remembered my sister and I played with the infinite momey glitch. Money really does equal happiness 😅
The "most played" portion of the video is RIGHT AFTER the ad break lollllll
if you dont wanna do all the basic hygien and feeding, just open settings and put the self thinking option on high.
The Sims 3 theme always gives me a mini heart attack now because I made the mistake of making it my ringtone. Now I hear it and I feel like my phone is ringing even though I know its not. 🙃😂
That sim definitely passes the eye test -- thought the thumbnail was on a different channel name, and thought "huh, someone made an Eddy Burback."
Please Eddy and Tony, I need another Burback video, I’ve watched all of them too many times now
Really great job with the channel, guys! I enjoy each episode more and more to the point that I enjoy them equally as much as Eddy's main channel videos. I think the tone, narration, and overall storytelling especially deserves praise
When I was younger I used to love playing the family aspect of it
I was 100% certain this was a CallMeKevin video. So much so that when I saw the Burback logo, I thought it was a collab.
A man can dream.
spending months rebuilding entire towns and homes was therapeutic for me. I wish I didn't sell my computer. I used hella mods and cheats just to avoid the mundane parts.
11:08 Now THAT’S a true politician right there.
I'm sure someone's already said this, but if there's one thing worse than a kleptomaniac that hates kids, it's a kleptomaniac that loves kids
The woohoo cut scene in sims 2 was a lot worse, especially playing on the family computer and worrying someone would walk in 😂
That’s a low bar, I’m impressed it managed to limbo its way below it
My experience with The Sims was enjoying setting it all up but then pretty quickly becoming "NO, STOP GOING TO THE BATHROOM FOR A POOP - THE KITCHEN IS ON FIRE I TOLD YOU!".
"NO, STOP PUTTING OUT THE KITCHEN FIRE THE CAR PICKING YOU UP IS LEAVING!"
And I got really stressed out and stopped playing.
I haven't done well in adult life subsequently - I just bail out because it's stressful.
ayyo its those guys that post sometimes
as someone with far too much time logged into the sims 3 & 4, i want a full comprehensive psychological analysis of sims players
This video simultaneously reminded me why I played Sims 3 and why I quit. Two thumbs up! 👍🏼 👍🏼
This video makes me wanna save harder for that gaming computer just so I can play my Sims 3 collection again 😭
Yeah when I streamed the sims for my friends, it was funny at first making my sim fight with everyone, but then I actually had to *be responsible* and it was boring but also really infuriating when he didn't cook and instead decided to troll the forums
After spending 8 hrs straight playing sims 4, I start to wonder “what’s MY bladder need?”
I love how they straight up ignored that The Sims 4 exist lmao. The Sims 3 were the best anyway
You taking the money and buying a TV was hilarious 🤣
1:14 mind blown
This happened to m in the sims 4 but one of the craziest shit that has happened to me was that after finally finishing a sim that took me a whole day just to make (+ another day making the house) and when i start my games i always like to cook FIRST and i made toast and eggs and then my sim caught on fire, and JUST STAYED THERE TO DIE THEY DIDNT EVEN TRY THE OPTION WAS STUCK
Y’all never fail to make an explanation super clear but also entertaining. Top quality content 👍
nooo the mundane bits are fun sometimes like making my sim brush their teeth was a special little activity and they got the minty breath moodlet i liked that
this game really fucks with your psyche and i think you captured that well here
My sims boyfriend adopted a child randomly. So I married him and moved in with him. I lasted 2 days. Between getting them all to go to work and getting him to go to school, feeding them, showering them, getting them to complete work/school tasks, I had my sim move out 💀. Then she became a blood thirsty serial killer/famous author and now she’s hiding out in the islands.
