- With millions of non biodegradable, disposable period products like pads and tampons flooding our landfills each year, we decided to try out some reusable eco-friendly options. Will we become converts?

🙌🏼
ah this is the best comment u guys could have posted on this video
To be honest i clicked in without reading the title but watched it anyway cos it was informative lol....
Thank you for the validation
i came here for Chow....
Seems like I am really jealous of Chow, like SHE CAN REALLY EXERCISE ON PERIODS, and there's me who can't even walk!!!🥺
Same here girl. Every time period comes, I need to stop all exercise and hope that I will live on
Oh my god Renae is SO FUNNY when she tried her best to explain about how the fart gets trapped in the pad 🤣
Yes to normalising period talk!
Hello! We wanted to answer some FAQs from the video:
- The cloth pads have to be washed before first use so it might be why they are not absorbing as well at the start.
- Changing cloth pads in public - you can fold the top and bottom inwards and snap them together with the buttons to make a compact little square, and store them in a wetbag until you get home.
- Cloth pads and period undies can be washed in the washing machine together with your other clothes if you don't want to handwash them! But skip the fabric softener as they can affect the absorbency. You can give them a rinse first to get rid of most of the blood before throwing them in the wash.
- The vagina doesn't go straight up, so when inserting the menstrual cup, point it more towards your tailbone!
- The menstrual cup doesn't have to be sterilized when emptying and reinserting, a rinse under water is good enough. You can also wash them with a cup cleaner (available on our website) or mild unfragranced soap. You can sterilize the cup between cycles, using boiling water, dental tablets or baby bottle sterilizer, although some people choose to skip this step.
We're happy to answer any questions you may have!
This comment should be pinned!
Why ain't anyone talking about Gwen? Good to see her here after the feature on Zula. She's glowing and she's so pretty 😍 (although, note, everyone is beautiful)
The taxi driver listening to gwen Talking abt using the menstrual cup
👁️👄👁️
I've been using a menstrual cup for the last 5 years, and I genuinely love the menstrual cup. I hope more girls would start to enjoy using it as much as I have :”)
Perks to menstrual cups that should be shared:
1. 100% environmentally friendly - menstrual cups are supposed to last 10 years, and I’ve been using mine for the last 5 years without complaints
2. Super comfortable, especially when doing sports - you will no longer have to deal with that damp feeling in between your legs, what more on your heavy flow days. Especially for sportswomen, sweat mixed with blood is really a no go.
3. No longer greeted with a pool of blood every time you pee - it honestly does not get better than this
4. You can go swimming on your period - tried and tested, no fear Shakespeare
5. Can last up to 12 hours on medium flow - I have rarely ever filled up the cup in between the times I change it (less than 10 times in the last 5 years). A part of it depends on your blood flow, but nothing a bigger cup cannot fix.
I hope more girls would be open to the idea of a menstrual cup (virgin or not) - it's a big step for our environment :`)
The last time I tried using a menstrual cup, I had long nails and had so much difficulty pulling it out! Any solutions for that HAHAH it was so traumatic I took about 30 mins to remove it!!
What's a brand you would suggest?
You go girl! I have been using menstrual cup for 4 years. I would never go back using pads anymore. My menstrual cramp improved so much.
@@jodyng4804 how about trimming your long nails to make it easier for insertion and removal?
@@xHuiyii i love Lena menstrual cup! Been using it for 2 years already - definitely a convert from disposable pads
Renae has the very honest review ever haha ngl
You can actually fold the reusable pad and clip it up when you are out and store them in a wet bag before washing them at home :)
Lowkey worried it will smell though 😥😥😥
@@TheSmartLocal it doesn’t really smell, unless it’s in there for days HAHAHA I think the wet bag will block the smell
@@TheSmartLocal used cloth pads doesn't really smell as bad as used disposable pads. apparently, it's the material of the disposable pads that cause the bad "period blood" smell. well, unless you're an exceptionally sweaty person... if not the cloth pad should just have that normal iron-ish blood smell.
Most wet bags come with a smell proof and water proof function!!
I ❤️ how Renae laughs at her own jokes💨💨 😂🤣😂🤣
Wat a delightful surprise to 👀 Chris, Ra n Kim 👏👏👏👏
omg I love chow's hair here. SHE LOOKS GREAT AF
what a 'real' video! thanks for all the honest opinions, they'll definitely help us all in choosing an alternative product!
Raising awareness for women around the world that doesn't have proper period products available to them.
Don't need to sterilise the cup whenever you take it out!! Just wash and/or wipe with the cup wipes that are usually provided. I recently tried cups and omg I'M A TOTAL CONVERT!!!! Was on reusable pads for the past 1 year before that. But I'm like chow, I only bleed for 3 days then I'm on panty liner alr. So my 25ml cup can last me for more than 12hrs and it doesn't even get filled up to half lol. Wish I had tried cups earlier!! SO DRY SO SHIOK. The only down side is trying to remove when you have long nails 🙃🙃🙃
I’ve been on cloth pads for more than 2 years now! My favourite local brand is Quinbi Co. - they’re big on female empowerment too!
I want to know what is Renae’s experience when it comes to washing the period panties though. Thank you for making this video! I’ve been considering switching to reusable period products for a while, I think this is the push I needed :)
Kudos to the girls for being so open up about this topic! ❤️💕
Menstrual cup is a serious gamechanger. Steep learning curve but once I got the hang of it, I can never go back to using pads. Save money and save the earth!! Plus it's way more comfortable, convenient (in terms of being able to sit or lie however you want without worrying about leaking, not to mention workout or swim!) and no smell.
How often do you need to clean out the cup in a day?
When u pull it out the blood don't splatter everywhere?
@@Grizzlebearify Depends on the cup size and how heavy your flow is. Different brands carry different cup sizes. For me, for the first day (heavy flow), I change about once every 5 hours (maybe 3 changes in total for the day). For 2nd and 3rd day (medium flow), I change every 8-12 hours (once morn and once night). For 4th and 5th day, once a day. But it's different for everyone, some people have light flows and change much less often, and vice versa.
@@xelareiadesu2550 Usually nope, when you pull it out you just pour it directly into the toilet bowl (if you're sitting on the toilet bowl). Unless you not careful or use too much force haha
Kudos to the girls for trying 👏🏻👏🏻 anyway just a washing tip, soak the used pads in salt water n the blood stain will come out. Same tip can be used on stained panties from regular pads. Then wash as normal after salt water soak.
More videos of Renae dancinggg! Didn't know she could dance so well~
Awesome vid!! There are menstrual disc out there too! If the cup is too challenging.. the disc maybe for you. The learning curve to insert the disc is a lot less steep than the cup
9:05 to 9:15 when renae is more concern about her avocado and jokes in a foreign accent 😂😂
super eye opening as ive been considering the period panties since i use alot of pads during my cycle
I have been using freedom cups and find it super easy to clean and empty, for public toilets I use a bottle (evian), just get some water from the tap and bring the bottle in to spray clean yourself.
Love this content! Kinda wish there are more questions like how often it needs to be changed and how the cleaning process is like etc etc. BUT I REALLY APPRECIATE YOUR WORK. 👉👈
Recommend yall to watch the buzz feed India video version as well.
There's quite some good advice at the comment below that video for those thinking about transitioning or maybe just curious about more information about this topic.
An eye opener video. I'm a guy
Cup is the best!!!!!!!!! Dry and clean. No more waterfall feeling when blood gushes out!!!
I’m a guy, but I hv to give you girls & TSL a 👍. Environmental friendly product especially now during these period we are using lots of masks. I will recommend my girl to use the reuse-able pads. Sound comfy from the feedback. But not the cup. 😂
I’ve been using menses cup for 2 years, menses disc for 3 mths. Menses panties during heavier days with menses disc. Love reusable items!!
Renae you danced so well!!
i didn’t know renae could dance!!!! more dancing please i give you 20 cents
Thanks for sharing! Honestly I use menstrual cup and it’s life changing! Truly uncomfortable first few times cause I’m getting used to it! But it’s my month 11 and loving using menstrual cup. YAZZZZZ
I'm very salute to all the women out there!
RA!!! Miss seeing her on TSL! Can anyone tell me where to find her on Instagram? I can't find her page anywhere and I love her art so much. Also, I've been using a menstrual cup for a year now and it's been so great for the environment and on the pockets, definitely would recommend if you've been thinking about it!! :)
Ra will be on one of our upcoming Singaporeans Try episodes 🤩🤩🤩
@@TheSmartLocal oh yesss
@@TheSmartLocal :000 oh yess! I miss Ra :’)
loved this video but i kept getting distracted by chow's skin??? we need a skincare routine!
Not very much relevant but omg Gwen child is so dang adorable 🥰 I - ahhhh so cute I can’t even
I still cant wrap my head around how to insert a menstrual cup , watched tons of tutorials videos before but its just feels 🤯🤯 to insert a cup in there
I started using it last year. If you're not a virgin, I think it's really easy tbh. And, my period doesn't feel so dreadful anymore
I do the 7 fold so it’s easier to fit. Relax even if you’re nervous because it makes a whole lot of difference. For a start, get the smallest cup available. My first cup was the saalt soft teen size!
This is so educational. Looking forward for more videos like this !
Wow, Renae dances so 👍🏻👏👏👏 n she's super funny 😆
Awh miss Ra, Chris and Kim so much! So happy to see them 😍
I swear Renae is always hilarious
I heard of reusable pads before this, but I was like: no thanks. After watching this episode, immediately I purchased two online, thanks to TSL!
Love this episode! Always doubtful about these products 😅
I loveee chow's hair colour what colour is it? And yay gwen is back
First but i don't know what to say! But love your videos!
Gwen’s baby uwu 🥺🥺 so precious!!!!
oh no chow, period light means lining is thin. May want to look into it if you're looking to conceive some times in future.
and If I do need to empty my cup, I'll use the disabled toilet to wash the cup!
{just empty, wash with water, it should be clean. no need soap, no need sterilize)
Usually don't have to since it can last for a good 10-12 hours.
But I usually can't feel how filled the cup is until it overflow haha
You don’t have to steals the cup every time you change. Just wash it with vasigil and water. Only sterilise it before and after your cycle.
please drop a link for the products used in the video 🥺
Producer got them from a site called The Period Co, but there are some shops in SG that stock them, like The Green Collective
I swear by Freedom Cups. Best product ever! Support local!
Menstrual cups are the best. U should not feel anything when it's in. If u are feeling something, u r not putting in correctly
Hello! Can I ask how do you remove/wash menstrual cups in public toilets? Is that inconvenient/awkward/mafan in any way for you? :)
@@creyji use disabled toilet! need somewhere with an enclosed sink. Usually don't have to since the cup should holds about 10-12hr of flow.
I never had issue with leakage. Even after 12 hours, the cup isn't full. Maybe between 1/2 and 3/4 full. Hence, there isn't a need for me to wash the cup in public. However, if u need to do so, u should prep a bottle of water.
It's so good that I don't feel anything. I can pretty much continue my active lifestyle. No more butt rash while riding my motorcycle on a hot day.
Yes, I can run and swim on all days of my period. No problem at all!
The illustrations in between were so funny🤣
Honest question to the girls, the sanitary pad is supposed to absorb the blood, right? Does it also absorb other liquid, say your pee? And if yes, have you tried peeing on it (when you couldn't go to the toilet immediately).
Another question, has it happened that it started to flow while you're in the toilet like if you're doing either number 1 or 2? and if yes, how would you know if it has stopped? It would be terrifying to be seeing so much blood.
Also, it must be uncomfortable feeling that gush of liquid, since you can't control the flow unlike pee coz the cervix is not meant to control that flow. Correct me if I'm wrong.
hi !!
no, the sanitary pad doesnt absorb pee or anything like that because it's designed for collecting blood not urine
yes, my period has flowed before when i was doing no. 1 or 2. u can usually feel when it has stopped flowing because it's usually just a gush/few gushes (at least that's how it is for me) for me, i'm used to seeing blood so i'm not really afraid or anything but sometimes the smell is kinda repulsive (sorry if this is tmi for you)
and yes it is really uncomfortable for me whenever i feel the gushes, especially for someone with a heavy period😭 but, i do know of some women who do not actually feel their gushes though. i envy them HAHA
hope that answered your queries :-)
1. Yes it can absorb other liquid but its just not sanitary to pee on your pad
2. Yes it can flow while we’re in the toilet when the flow is really heavy but even then, it isnt like overflowing and it stops after a short-while. (You can tell just by looking down at the toilet bowl)
3.You cant really feel the gush of liquid unless its really heavy/something triggers a huge flow of blood (e.g. sneezing). What’s more uncomfortable is the cramping of our vagina (due to the contraction of our uterus)
It doesn't even absorb blood sometimes.. once it litrally slid and stained the floor I have pictures to prove it. Very embarrassing. Ps: it was Summer
@@user-zk9vv2qh4n thank you for the response! I appreciate it!
@@k-potato3593 thanks for the response! Are the cramps caused by the actual flow itself (i.e., the body trying to expel the menses), or is an "after effect" meaning after everything is expelled, the cramps start to happen? Doesn't the uterus lining get inflamed once everything has been "flushed" coz as I understand (please correct me if I'm wrong) menstruation happens when the lining that was supposed to be used for the egg is expelled, won't the underlying wall be inflamed or something?
Sorry I'm asking too many questions!
Who else swap from normal pads to tampons? I freakin love it now actually. The rest are too much of a hassle to me.
i hope tsl never ends up like tree potatoes, keep going strong guys :)
Can you make a video of girls playing valorant !!! 🥺❤️ I would be so grateful !!!!!
i love renae so much!! shes so funny HAHAHHA
11:17 11:19 Ra and Chris!! OGsss
Yay to menstrual cups!!!
every girl is a hero, menstruation is not a shame :-)

Is it practical to give the reuseable pad and period panties as a vday gift ?

As a guy who loves efficiency, I can only recommend menstrual cups to women.
Menstrual cups are life changing. Check out theperiod.co! I’m not affiliated in any way hahahha I just get my cups from them.
my periods lasts for about 3 days 😳✌️
WHATS GWENS SCHOOL (PRIMARY AND SEC)
omg, chow is using the same water bottle as me
sorry i know is rude but i still curious how old is the three of them
Is there other ways to sterilize the cup? Genuinely curious.. cuz I saw so many ladies do it this way.
there's some kind of tablet to put in water to do so as well.
You can use denture tablets or baby bottle sterilizer as well :)
where do we get theseeeeeeeeeeeee. especially the period panties, what brand are they
This is not sponsored - but we got everything from The Period Co!
I got my period panties from shethinx .. it is pricey and tbh i only use the moderate flow panties at the lighter part of the cycle cause it depends on the thickness of the blood.. at times it just sips through. The perks is that you dont have to worry about stains/scrubbing.
Hello Nicole, theperiod.co carries 2 Australian brands - Modibodi and Love Luna (featured in this vid)
2nd
oh yay me early
Early😀😃😀
I'm still confused about period panties HAHA. Do you just wear it without the pad? Do you have to wash it?
if your flow isnt that heavy, you can wear them without the pad but wearing them with a pad is also perfectly fine too. and yes you do have to wash it, just treat them like any other panty
@@user-zk9vv2qh4n do you have to change the panty in the day tho? like a reusable pad? can the panty really absorb so much of one whole day's flow? noticed that renae didn't really address changing/washing the panty and any leaks involved but she gave reliability a 9.86/10
@@eeniminiminimo Renae did say she's abt to wash it n there's a green pail in front of her. She oso showed us tat there ws no leak on d outer side. Hahaha, obviously we r not keen to look at d inner side which ws... BLOODY😅
@@eeniminiminimo i think it really depends on your flow and also how much the panty can absorb. i think most are designed so that you dont have to change it throughout your day though
1hour late :(

what’s the brand of the reusable pad?
There are several different brands on The Period Co!
