I love how seemingly random Tolkien's inspiration can be. I can imagine him trying to think about the story of the blue wizards and what it might entail, and suddenly the tale of Beruthiel springs into his mind so he just writes it down.
The mystery of the Blue Wizards is so tantalising! I like to imagine they tried to convince pockets of the Easterlings and Haradrim to resist Sauron, but perhaps one or both of them decided to rule over those small break-away factions as lords themselves. Or maybe either Palando or Alatar became a lord like Saruman and the other became a despondent street magician who obsessed over cheap tricks the way Radagast fixated on animals... I dunno. Just theorising. I wish we knew more...
Your theorizing is pretty believable, actually. I see no reason why it couldn't work out that way! And yes, I agree that their mystery is so fascinating. But I kind of like that there's an air of mystery about them - it lets our imaginations run wild :-D
I have literally watched all of your videos, you make Tolkien interesting in a way that no one else does. I have so many positive things to say about your videos and the passion in which you put on display in the videos. But the main point of this comment is to find out more about you like who you are.
What a lovely compliment! Thank you so much. Well, by trade I'm a teacher of English to speakers of other languages. I have been a Tolkien fan since the late 90s when my dad introduced me to The Hobbit, and then The Lord of the Rings. I read The Silmarillion later on in high school, and then a couple more times over the years. I started these videos because I really wanted to present The Silmarillion in a user-friendly manner (because the text is so dense). I love Tolkien's world. It inspires me like nothing else in fiction. When did you first become a Tolkien fan?
Good Ol Gandalf , he continues to grow on me more and more every time i hear something new about him :) thanks for your efforts and keep up your exquisite work .
i thank you. i may have posted this before idk. but this type of analysis with maps and troop movements and descriptions and the art selections ......i tip my hat. thank you. thank you. i knew i wasn't the only one but its nice to see somebody go real hard for others. the map stuff really helps. im not talking about this video but ALL your videos. present your youtube channel as a literature thesis jeez lol. thank you.
Well thank you very much! I'm glad you like the maps. I always find that using maps for battle descriptions really helps in bringing the words on the page to life (because it's easy to get things mixed up without a visual aid). Glad you're enjoying!
*Ælfwine's Road* , *The PhilosophersGames* and *The Clueless Fangirl* all deliver the best pronuncuation of Tolkien's unique pronouns and languages out of all the Tolkien UA-cam scholars.

I like to think (no basis in text) that the mouth of sauron was a corrupted Istari, one of the blue. Who's to say one of the 9 isn't the other?
Great kings of men, sorcerers of terrible power, corrupted by sauron the deceiver.
@@markeastwood4114 That would certainly be interesting!

Gandalf rocks. He really never fails to deliver :-D
You're incredibly knowledgeable yet also concise -- Amazon shoulda made you a consultant on its upcoming series, gotta feeling it will be dreck.
Thank you so much! And yeah, I have a feeling that the series will just be a money grab coasting on a famous name, but with no heart. Sad :-(
@@lfwinesroad3399 and you were so right :)
😀
Fascinating - and you have a pleasing narrator's voice.
Hey there! Thank you :-)

@@lfwinesroad3399 I've got the first editions if both and having to constantly unfold and refold, I don't like to do that..
Do you talk about other books? Other authors other works? It's rare to hear someone speak so concisely about books.
@@markeastwood4114 Right, that can definitely get repetitive after a while.
@@markeastwood4114 Nope, just The Silmarillion and Unfinished Tales so far :-)
The Westron names for Bilbo and Frodo make me think of Italy instead of England...
I know, right?! Westron is quite interesting.
This is a spoonful of sugar to help the Monday medicine go down. :-)
Thanks for the pleasant surprise. ( video) well done as always. Gandalf saving the best for last
Thank you very much! Glad you liked it :-D
Glad to see your channel growth. Congrats on breaking a thousand subs. 👏 well deserved.
Thank you very much! I'm really happy about it :-D
You absolute gem!
Thank you! :-D
Folks in Rohan and Gondor: Oh great, Gandalf's here
Gandalf: I don't wanna be here either
Haha!
Why did Treebeard say that Gandalf is the only one who cares about the trees anymore, without a mention of Radagast?
Hmm, that's a good question!
I often ask did the Istari by any chance train apprentices in the art of Magic
Maybe the Blue Wizards did, but I doubt it for the others. 🪄
