- Welcome to this incredible 1820 (or earlier) log home which is believed to be of German origin. The home is owned by Leisa and Daryl Kirtley, owners of The Western Reserve Antique Shop.
Come, walk back in time with me in this magnificent home, beautifully staged with early antiques, primitives, textiles, paintings, and more. Hello prim friends! Welcome to our channel, @Thecapeonthecorner at Tweedthistle Farms, where we love to explore antique shops and homes that are filled with history in early American antiques and primitives. We are sharing the building process too as we build our forever home, a Cape Cod style home on our 5+ acres in Ohio where we also have a specialty cut flower farm. Follow along as we share daily life of starting seeds and planting seedlings for the cutting garden, establish new landscaping near our home to try to give it that early look and feel. Soon we'll create a Shaker inspired kitchen garden near the side porch filled with fresh herbs surrounded by a primitive style fence. - Навчання та стиль
Thank you everyone for all the kind words. This really was a labor of love for Daryl & I , and a whole lot of labor for Daryl. So many of the Christmas pieces have been collected for years and many of the feather trees were Christmas presents to me from Daryl.
I saw comment asking how there were stored. Sometime I do have to fold up the branches but many of the small ones fit in the top compartment of my mule chests, blanket chests, and there is a cupboard space behind the fireplace. I try not to fold them up any
more than I have to.

I dont think i could say any part was my favorite. I simply loved every square inch of it. Ive always dreamt that some day I'd be living that way with an antique shop. I'm 73 and that's not going to happen so I'll just keep filling my 120 yr old victorian house with primitive antiques lol.

Most definitely. I said earlier, I could do a whole video from each room! Beautiful pieces and artfully displayed, but not staged. It felt very natural to the house.

This was a wonderful home. I really enjoyed seeing the home and the wonderful antiques. I was quite amazed by the size of the logs and truly loved those old windows!
Speechless, like stepping back to a simpler time! So cozy, warm, relaxing and everything so well done! I could easily escape the chaos in our world today and live in this home🤎. A true keeper of the past in this throw away society we live in.. such a beautiful home. The feather trees, primitive lighting, putz sheep, warmth of wood and textiles…oh my heart be still. What a beautiful home! The antique samplers had my little cross-stitcher's heart going pitter-patter. 😍 Somehow the house is perfectly staged and presents the antiques in a way that would make some pro decorators jealous, but still seems exceptionally homey and welcoming at the same time. I think it would be impossible not to feel the Christmas spirit sitting in that house, especially at night where I imagine the lighting and coziness transform it into something magical. Thank you for the tour! I have a lot of new ideas for my own house brewing now, lol.

Oh my goodness, there are so many favorite parts of this home. It is amazing. It would be my dream home. Everything about it the beautiful outside the house looks amazing. It’s like stepping back in time I want to say it’s like a museum but that’s so dry because this is a beautiful home it’s so comfy and welcoming, I want to watch this video over and over and over again and get ideas of how I can possibly make. My home looks somewhat even a tiny little bit like hers. Thank you so much. You do an amazing job at narrating and describing and articulating all the items you see, you bring out detail and I love that and your description you educate us. This is a one of a kind home.!!!!

Somethings that stood out to me is the sink is exactly like my grandmothers sink that I used to stand on the chair and help her dry dishes and talk to my grandmother she had a cloth around her sink the bottom so you couldn’t see what’s under it? There is a bowl in the pantry. That is amazing. It’s beautiful. The outside of the house is stunning, the warmth as you walk through the house I love the stairs how tiny they are and how steep they are there so many things
Yes, the kitchen really reminded me of an old-world European kitchen. They are planning on putting an addition on the home eventually that will hold a new/old kitchen. I just uploaded a video of the shop, hope you'll check it out, and she does ship!

On my stars!! Beautiful!! But how much money would one need to have to have so much in the house. Every nook & cranny is filled with beautiful amazing pieces. Not every one inherits or is able to afford so much or is a handyman who can reconfigure or build things. But it’s good to watch & get ideas. Thank you for this amazing viewing.

Nice antiques like a museum kitchen was so tiny i expected a large one with a fireplace.
They are planning on a kitchen addition at some point in the future. I honestly thought the kitchen was very charming and felt very old world English to me. I can only imagine what the addition will look like!

While I couldn't live in this home, I admire and respect their restoration process and all their curated furnishings and decorations. What amazes me is how the two of them have worked together to make this happen. It takes a lot of knowledge, vision, and talent on both sides, not to mention "just a few" dollars and cents.

Oh my goodness - I couldn't decide on just ONE favorite part!! But I'd say one of my favorites by far was the cupboard at the top of the stairs that housed the teddy bears. I have a collection of antique ones, and I loved how they all looked in that cupboard. I think I will have to watch this video several times to "take it all in"! Wish I lived closer! Well I’m at a loss to pick a favorite part because there are so many pieces that I’m a huge fan of….feather trees, wall paper boxes, onion bottles with horn beakers, the hour glass, old leather books, beautiful old clothes….the list goes on and on. I would like to ask a question, since she has so many feather trees….can you give any suggestion for storage of them…..for instance, is it ok to bend the branches up when storing? I’m trying to find a safe way to store the ones I have. Thanks….and happy birthday to your niece.
Leisa did comment here on the video, I hope you can find it. She stores more in her mule chests, and cupboards without bending the branches whenever possible.

I didn't count, but more than I've ever seen in one home. They were incredible. She said many were gifts over the years from her husband.
Perhaps it would have been more successful if the owners gave the details on the original construction.
