- This lamp from Canvas has been ALLLLLL over my feed for the last few months, so it was only fitting that I try it out LIVE for y'all. This video is based on my initial thoughts and testing, but I'll make sure to update you on how it works out for making short-form video content!
What do you think? Is it worth the $$$?

I didn’t watch her whole review. Here is my brief review. I put the wooden base on the edge of my table. My iPhone on top of the light and 20” from the base caused the whole thing to top over. The construction is very light weight. The light itself did not illuminate a 7x10” watercolor sheet edge to edge when filling the camera frame. You can get a similar lamp for about $40 from Target. I paid $218 plus $15 shipping and it cost $29.29 to ship it back.
I haven't had any toppling issues, but that's likely because I got the marble base. I'm sorry that it didn't work for you!
What is the cheaper target version called?
I’d really like to know that Target product that is less in cost & better? Please?
I feel like you needed to move the base towards the side and use the overhead gooseneck as it was intended. You are supposed to pull the overhead out more(AWAY from the base) and then you will have more surface area to shot/video. Hope that helps.
You're totally right! Luckily I figured that out since I published the video, but a follow-up may be in order.
Thanks for the review. Had my eye on this because I like the multi-functionality and that it looks good, but seems so overpriced.
I really like it for making reels on Instagram, but definitely wouldn't use it for my UA-cam content.
Have you tried turning the hinge thing the other way so that the light isn’t facing the base if that makes sense. That way the base won’t be in your photos! I’m not sure if the clamp can swivel that way
I think you definitely could do that!
What mount were you using to film this with? Not the Canvas, the one videoing the Canvas. You seem pretty happy with that one.
I can't find it now, but it was from Amazon! The brand is HORLH and I use it with my iPad. It's definitely great for taking videos from higher up than the Canvas.
@@PlanWithEmm thanks!
I watched another review with one of the wood based and it seemed really stable. Even more than this one. I wonder if it’s heavier 🤔
My best guess would be that they've tightened theirs more than I did! I just took it out of the box and put it in the marble haha. The base is DEFINITELY plenty heavy though.
Does the lower arm come straight up that could make it better
It can get pretty close to straight!
Thank you, that's exactly what I was worried about, the base being in the shit
I've actually learned now that you can position it so the base is facing the other way! So it doesn't have to be in everything.
I'm curious what you were filming this unboxing with?
I was using a HORLH iPad mount! I still use it for all of my UA-cam filming.
@@PlanWithEmmI would love to know about the other tool you used to film this!? Please?
@@zeffersstudios I have a similar product linked in my Amazon faves! The one I was using doesn't technically exist anymore, but I found a similar one.
The base doesn't need to be in it. You can flip it around.
Totally correct! And I like that it's still stable even with the marble base flipped.
A very expensive piece of equipment???
Isn't it like $150 bucks?
Haha to be fair I was comparing it to my $20 mount!
Not great customer service from this company so far. It seems simple, but...when recording video or shooting stills, getting vertical moving lines like trying to shoot from an old tv...No response from the company. Also, too much light falloff and not very even illumination.
That light effect is SUPER weird - I haven't experienced it. Agreed on the light falloff though. I'm sorry that you haven't received good customer service, but I hope they get back to you soon!
