  • Hi everyone and welcome to part one of our Commodore 64c refurbishment series.
Managed to snag this 'Mint In Box' Commodore 64C on eBay for £50. Good news is that it is fairly minty, at least visually. There are troubles ahead no doubt though so, before even powering it on, we'll be doing some preventative maintenance and giving the old girl a good look over.
Thanks to Phil at www.retroleum.co.uk for the re-cap kit, heatsinks and some other goodies you'll see in the videos.
    Thanks for stopping by!

Nice video and well narrated. If this is your first video intended for general public consumption you did very well. For Part 2 you might consider losing the retro lo-res text and go for something a little more readable-at-a-glance. I never owned a Commodore C64 myself but have been around early computing a lot, so it was a very pleasant nostalgia trip. Looking forward to Part 2.

Great effort for a first video! I've got two bread bins I'm currently working on. Hope this one is an easy fix!

I hope so too! Seem to have lost my previous thank you as a result of the channel moving home - so, a re-stated and belated thank you :)

An otherwise fine video somewhat ruined by the way too loud terrible music. I'm forced to choose between cringing myself and waking everyone else in the house up or hearing what the narrator is trying to say...

These early videos were... not good audio-wise. Biggest criticism by far but it’s a steep learning curve. There’s been some significant investment in time and equipment since then so hopefully you’ll find the later videos more acceptable. Thanks for persevering through :)

That’s one of the very first videos I ever did and I knew *nothing* about making videos at that point :) Check out the later ones and you’ll find things improve :)

really need to get round to refurbing them have a recap kit for one but time never seems to be there to get things done
had a c128 back in the day but only ever used it in 64 mode.....if you ever get your hands on one would love to see a refurb

Did you re-cap the RF-modulator? Doing that improves the video quality.
