This version of the Escape has been around so long and has been very popular. The older Escape does have a tougher look compared to the current Escape.
This is my favorite generation of the Escape. The term "crossover" is used lightly since it actually has ground clearance and some towing capability. The hybrids are the best in my opinion, they are running around with over 300K now and no major issues on the original battery, engine and transmission. We test drove a 2018 recently and it drove like garbage compared to this generation. No ground clearance, no power for the same fuel economy, and crappy ride/handling. Just picked up a 2009 hybrid 4X4 with 120K and couldn't be happier.
Dash feels a bit low? Good. Should accommodate shorter people too. Why did you show the pre 2008 model base on a review for a 2012. Truck like ride is great. Cheap vehicle for towing. Little V6 does pretty good. Drum brakes won't warp easy like the thin non air cooled rear rotors when towing either. There is a transmission cooler built into the condenser. Vehicle feels solid on the road but still a smooth ride.Does not have a cheap feel handling even at 112000 miles. My only complaint is the console could use a little more sound proofing. That little thing tows better than my Grand Marquis. To anybody that wants a car ride. Buy a car. But if you want something cheap to tow and go through snow. The V6 AWD will do the trick.
There are more used 2012 Ford Escapes for sale than any other used SUV. They are garbage. They look nice, nice interior, but so many problems with the engines. Not just mine but I have read hundreds of reviews from 2012 owners. You can see why so many 2012 used ones are for sale, and at a cheap price.
tHERE IS NO BAD CARS AND GOOD, THERE ARE GOOD AND BAD DRIVERS FOR SURE... I MEET PEOPLE WITH A CAR WITH 70,000 KMS AND THE CAR NEEDS OTHER NEW ENGINE .. LOL
Then Ford promptly made the Escape into oversized Focuses in 2013.

They really screwed this up when they started making it look like a van.
I own a 2012 limited 2.5 awd with all options and love it

I like 2012 Ford Escape, and already own one, and I am a traditional guy, so not very like 2013 escape out appreance. xD!
I've checked my on board computer, states 23.0 MPGs with mixed city highway driving, not bad for a 2.5L box Suv.
The lady has a really lovely voice..

What a sweeeet girl. Yeah I'd go with the Limited.
