It's so sad to hear this. I have so many wonderful memories of watching your videos during lunch between classes when I was an undergraduate student a few years back. Being a professional in the working world sucks, and your videos feel like a time capsule to me. Wishing you the best success in 2025, including your videos, your career and your family!
Ahh, this is pretty bittersweet to watch but I totally understand your reasons for planning to step back :,] Also feels kinda liberating(?) to hear a big or medium size UA-camr say "I'll just upload whatever I want whenever I want" and I am aware it's because you have the means to do so without being disadvantaged. Anyways, wish you and your family all the best! Guten Rutsch ins neue Jahr
I only started watching this channel in the summer holidays this year, but I’ve learnt so much. These videos have been a significant factor to me picking A-level maths for next year and my friend and I both discuss some of the things from your videos in school. In September I bought one of your hoodies and (when I gather more funds) look forward to making other purchases. Thank you so much for your service and best of luck into the future.
Hey Flammable Maths, I justed wanted to say that when I first found your channel, I was in my penultimate year of high school. I was bad at maths and had no idea wtf was going on in your videos. But for some unknown reason, I just kept watching them. Then I went on to study chemistry at university and I found out that the math courses brought me the most enjoyement. I still didn't understand most of your videos, but they really started to spark my curiosity. After finishing my Bachelors in chemistry I made a leap of faith and started studying mathematics (i'm in my second year now) and now when I watch some of your old videos, I have these "Ahhhh, so that's why this works" moments, which are really satisfying. This comment is getting way too fucking long, so I'll conclude by saying: thank you for all your videos, happy new year and I wish you and your family much happiness and prosperity! ❤
I found your channel shortly after starting my math PhD it helped me through that time which was not ideal due to the environment in my program. I ended up quitting and just leaving with a Masters degree and becoming an Engineer. I have always enjoyed your content and think you did a great job. I currently have my first child on the way and it definitely makes you rethink your priorities in life. I will continue watching you until you have finished and wish you the best with you and your family.
Your videos reminded me of the joy that came with mathematics in the moments i was struggling with studies, I've gained a gold medal in the astrophysics olimpiad of my contry and one of the things that got me though it was your videos. You deserve some rest . Thank you! And happy 2025 !
The only reason I am doing a math degree is because channels like yours showed me the side to mathematics that my high school education didn't. I saw that there is more to arithmetic than adding and subtracting, there is number theory and abstract algebra. I saw that there is more to geometry than angles and lines, there is topology and there are non-euclidean spaces. I had the chance to see the theoretical side to calculus rather than just the computational. You mentioned that your goal with this channel was to share mathematics with us, and you most definitely succeeded. Thank you for all of your hard work!
I think it really is genere specific whether long form videos gain traction. That being said, I'm sure you could keep experimenting until you found something that worked better. But why bother if it doesn't bring you joy. Sounds like you have plenty in life to keep you fulfilled. Thanks for the videos over the years. Wishing you the best!
Flammable Maths has been a mad journey from the very start, and hopefully until the end so will it be-"PaPa Flammy" will forever live on in my heart, even if you claim to step down from that title. I do hope we get the occasional shitpost after it's all over-tbh I myself had been more accustomed in general to that sort of upload style on UA-cam anyway. As long as you're able to look after yourself and your family, and put out, if seldom, the stuff you actually enjoy at your own pace, we will be happy. Here is to a magnificent year
I remember when I was in highschool really getting into maths and I used to watch a lot of your videos. Now I’m doing a maths degree in hopes of becoming a maths teacher, and it’s a lot thanks to you! Have a good year, and thank you for all the work you’ve done! ❤
Bro, last thing, PLEASE make a final review of your channel (with a brief overview of what videos were released, what topics were covered in these videos, mb add some history behind these videos). This will be VERY useful, will allow you to understand what a titanic work was done and will make navigation very convenient.
Oh man where do i even begin? Thank you Jens for the many years of laughs, knowledge and dedication you have given to me and everyone watching this video. you've probably read a thousand of these types of comments by now, so it will be hard for me to bring across just how truly thankful i am for you. many times in my life i have been at excruciating low points, and being a person who finds solace in maths having someone with your *unique* sense of humour and no-bs teaching style, well it definitely brought me many needed smiles at the right times. A star shines brightest right before it dies Jens, lets make 2025 the most flammable year yet.
Thank you for all the years! I discovered you many years ago and didnt get anything, and passed through my entire maths degree and then some since then. Its been good. All good things must pass.
Like several other people in the comments here, I have many great memories of finding you in my (second? maybe third) semester of undergrad in 2017 and watching you throughout the next couple years when you were really churning out the higher level content. It was the highlight of many a day between classes and taught me a lot or inspired me to learn more myself. Even with my preferences, I've still enjoyed the modern content too and make sure I watch through every video. I shall be sad to see you leaving at the end of the coming year, but I definitely get where you're coming from, and I wish you the best in all your future endeavors, Papa Flammy. o7
I'd like to get something off my chest real quick: You and DorFuchs single-handedly kickstarted my interest in mathematics, which I actually study nowadays. I hope you find strength and fullfillment within whatever you'll be doing in the future, Vater Flämisch❤
Thanks for all the great memories over the years, man! I was inspired by you and ended up doing advanced math like an absolute psycho. 8 hours a day for almost three years now, lmao. Maybe a bit too much, but still, thank you for the good times and inspiration! May the days ahead be even better!!
The background music really makes the vibe weird here. I feel bad for saying it but it's making me laugh despite the serious announcement I'm so sorry 😂 Anyway, I wish you all the best with everything, and thank you for the years of good entertainment and good maths ^^ you helped teach me the DI method for integration by parts
Thanks for everything Jens! Back the when i was taking calculus and stuff i was watching your videos every day. It was fun, cool integrals, silly funny humor and even some drama sprinkled in! Fresh toadwalker days hahaha. Later i stopped watching cause i got more advanced in my math journey and felt like i outgrew the content. Integrals n odes computations and stuff became very familiar and they were not pulling me to watch yt vids anymore. Anyway, i loved your channel and it made my early math journey a lot more fun. I appreciate you so i am keeping up with the main channel updates still. Congrats on being a teacher, that makes me happy cause i feel you'd do a really good job, and congrats on the family :) So yeah, just wanted to say thanks, and wish you all the best! And you kinda alluded to this but just to say, it's not gotta be black or white, you can e.g make 2 videos a year if you feel like it and that's ok! Frick the algo and just do your thing at your own rythm and for fun.
Congratulations on your family. Best wishes in all the good you do. It is refreshing that you are putting your family and responsibilities before social media.
I started watching your videos in 2020 i really loved the way you taught mathematics and now it's 2025 your videos have made me addicted to mathematics I've really learned a lot from you. So thank you and i wish you and your family a Happy New Year & any decision you take know that we'll always support you ❤.
Hello Papa Flammy :) I’m still a big fan of your material, and also took a dip into woodworking for a time, so it will be sad to see you stop. I look back very fondly on our short time of collaboration those few years ago, and I really wish we got to do our meet up in Germany, were it not for COVID. I wish you all the best with your future endeavors, and I hope that one day we could do a collab on my channel when I (finally) start making videos again. Perhaps even a meet up in Germany should I ever make it there! Long live the papa
I rode for what feels like a short year, and the stop is already upon the horizon. Wish I could've been here for longer, but I completely get you, man. good luck with your endeavors. You boosted my confidence with integral computation and made us laugh with your sillier videos. have a mathematical year, Papa!
lots of respect man. been watching you for many years, since before i started undergrad and now im on the other side. the video of yours i remember most is the exact solution of a pendulum
Idk if it's real But, because of you I'm more interested in maths ,my maths even improve! I also learned a lot from you,the way you solve it's unique and fun! Thanks papa flamm hope you have a safe and happy year❤
I've enjoyed watching your videos over the years. Our responsibilities change over time and it's OK to adapt. I'm looking forward to this last year and am excited for everything else you have going for you
when I first watched your videos I was 15 and in highschool. Now I am in my fourth year of undergrad studying physics and math. Your channel definitely played its role in that. Happy 2025!
Good luck in all your new endeavors!! When I was a kid I really loved watching your videos, they instilled in me a love for mathematics. Much love from Russia
Pappy Flammy, I still wear your Christmas pi shirt regularly (even out of season), and I'm glad you're still around and doing well for yourself! Wishing wonderful things for you & your family, and a calm and peaceful year full of successes!
I remember sending edgy papa flammy memes back and forth with my new uni friends when I first started my maths undergrad in 2018. Channels like yours helped me find my passion and get my degree. Happy to see papi get the happy ending ❤️
I don't know if you'll see this. I'm sad to hear that this your last year, but it also makes sense - nothing can last forever. Just know that you, your content, and this channel have given me and countless others so much joy, curiosity, and enjoyment over the years! As an engineering PhD student who loves to learn new math tricks, follow along to reinforce my skills, and hear others' perspectives on teaching certain concepts, your channel has alway been fantastic! A quick story: I watch nerdy UA-cam more than regular TV at this point (3B1B, Veritasium, this channel, and many others), and whenever my girlfriend and I are on the couch, she always enjoys the goofyness and presentation style of this channel. Though she is not in STEM at all and is rarely interested in math and physics like me, even she has engaged with some of the algebra and calc videos, and we always quote "Integ-er-al" around the house :) All of this is to say that your charm and content have reached beyond STEM geeks like me, in small ways you may never know fully. Despite the challenges with UA-cam and the naturally shifting priorities of life, you should be very proud of that. I'm looking forward to this year, and wishing you the best of luck with all of the wonderful things to come in your life (career, family, and fulfillment elsewhere)!!
That long-form content really resonates with me... UA-cam isn't the same anymore. It’s bittersweet because I've been following you since I was in Grade 9, and now I'm in my second year of college, heading into the third. Back then, people really appreciated long-form content.
I hope everything goes well for you Flammy ma boi. Your channel has been really entertaining to watch for the past few years since I found it. I’m also really grateful for all of the cool stuff I learned from your channel that helped me when I was studying math in college. I’m glad that you’re still planning to upload from time to time to your heart’s content and not straight up quitting altogether. Happy New Year to you and your family!
I started learning advanced Calculus because of your videos and got your aesthetic, I kept believing in maths because you made it cool and interesting, and you show your thinking and you aren't afraid of trying twice! Thank you for everything!
I’ve been reading through this comment section for a couple minutes now and something stands out to me as obvious: You have helped so many people learn to love math. You are such an inspiration to so many people, myself included. I wish you the best wherever life may take you.
I'm definitely sad seeing you go! Your videos motivated me to keep going with math I was convinced I'd never understand, and actually learnt a lot from your content! Happy new year Flammy 🔥🔥🔥 here's to a great forty five squared :)
I’ve been watching your channel for 7 years since I was in high school. I’ve honestly watched every single video on your channel and loved all of them. It’ll be so sad to see you go but all good things must come to an end. Thanks for all the memories Flammy. I wish you all the best for 2025 :)
On the one hand it's sad to see you stop with all of this as I've genuinely been enjoying your content for years. I started studying math at a relatively young age (still young but now in my final year of highschool) and I am so thankful to have discovered your videos. They've made me love math even more and introduced me to so many interesting concept. On the other hand though, it's so beautiful to hear that you're succeeding in life and I think that should be carefully appreciated and taken seriously with gratitude. It's not trivial to have a good life and seeing one of the most influential math content creators focus on what is really important to them is great. I hope you continue to flourish, and once again, thank you very much for all the great content and laughs!
I've noticed that the youtube channels that are doing the best are constantly interacting and collaborating with other UA-camrs or they have super high production quality that costs a lot of money and requires 500k views to break even. I'm sure your videos were doing the best when you were collaborating with Andrew Dotson and Zach Star which is part of creating a large community. Also, purely academic videos aren't doing well on youtube right now. It needs to be accessible and interesting to the masses. Excited to hear that you have your priorities in order and want to focus on things that bring you the greatest happiness! Happy New Year!
Hello Flammable Maths, I wanted to thank you to convey your love for maths to me, I really started to love maths by watching your videos and all my maths adventure started here! Have a peaceful rest!
There's only 168 hours in a week. Being a Dad & Husband are higher priorities now. Your very last video should be "10 Unsolved Problems in Mathematics". That'll keep us busy for a while!
Thank you for your part in sparking my interest in mathematics! I really loved watching your videos during my time in high school and I wish you the best ❤
It's common to assume people are always gonna stick around, but it's just not like that. I never thought I'd say this this soon, but I'll miss you alot
can we just remember on what this guy has done? about five great advent kalendars that include from solving (actually) the pendulum problem to 24 ways to integrate cos , great improvised sessions solving whatever challenging problems or integrals, not to mention the 3 video series on fransen robinson constant derivation and the other series on gamma and related functions ... and, althou last year has been almost everything for noobies, its still great quality content and extremely useful. i hope more people around the globe will discover ur great channel your channel is simply beautiful and we are all very thanful of it. you were and will always be the greatest math channel on yt. the best luck for you and your family
Don't worry papa, just live your life as you see fit 😀 You already contributed a lot, and your already published videos keep helping people and making them enjoy math. Thanks for everything.
Although this is my first comment here, I think I've been watching your videos for 4 or 5 years. I remember seeing your first video back in 5 grade. I didn’t understand a thing but it fascinated me. I saw one of your videos and then I spent hours trying to figure out how it works and would try calculating the solution myself. Without your channel, I definitely wouldn’t be so devote to mathematics today . I enjoye your videos a lot, especially the older ones on number theory and anal. I wish you the best for 2025.
First of all, Congratulations! You've become so sucessful in life! This is great news. Please stay present in the maths community somehow, and keep prioritizing yourself and family. Thanks for your amazing videos. o7
I stopped watching this channel for 1 year and when i come back i see this video... Well I'm happy that you've your priorities set and have things to do outside of UA-cam so i wish you the best on your jobs :). Thanks for the funny moments and specially the math Olympiad questions that helped me alot on my growth of skill in this area. To finish, i hope you have a wonderful 2025 ❤.
You've been going like a machine for years now. You deserve a long rest, papa.
@@PapaFlammy69 That sounds like he's going to kill you not gonna lie

Hopefully this reaches you.. you're my inspiration for starting mathematics.. you are well deserved in your life.
Glad I made a positive impact in your life!
Sounds like you have priorities in the right order. Well done. All the best for the future. Happy new year.

I’m also really grateful for all of the cool stuff I learned from your channel that helped me when I was studying math in college. I’m glad that you’re still planning to upload from time to time to your heart’s content and not straight up quitting altogether. Happy New Year to you and your family!
you too, appreciate you, Ricardo :)))
Have been watching you ON/OFF you since 2017. Have a good life
thx
I learned so much. Can't imagine how much you did.
I hope things go well for you, love your content
On the one hand it's sad to see you stop with all of this as I've genuinely been enjoying your content for years. I started studying math at a relatively young age (still young but now in my final year of highschool) and I am so thankful to have discovered your videos. They've made me love math even more and introduced me to so many interesting concept.
On the other hand though, it's so beautiful to hear that you're succeeding in life and I think that should be carefully appreciated and taken seriously with gratitude. It's not trivial to have a good life and seeing one of the most influential math content creators focus on what is really important to them is great. I hope you continue to flourish, and once again, thank you very much for all the great content and laughs!
thank you for the nice words, I appreciate it highly!!!! :)
Happy New Year!
happy new year!!! :)
We'll miss you so much. All the best for your future
Good luck , you experience is inspiring . Thank you 🙏
Best of luck with all your new adventures! It was a great channel
Thank you for all of your videos, your passion for math has been inspiring even as your interest in UA-cam has understandably declined.
It boils down to priorities, thank you ,I've learnt a lot reviewing those interesting videos of yours

your advent calendar was nuts, but I’m still peeking at that infimum hoodie

There's only 168 hours in a week.
Being a Dad & Husband are higher priorities now.
Your very last video should be "10 Unsolved Problems in Mathematics". That'll keep us busy for a while!
Hehe, true words, Douglas :D I wonder what the last main video is gonna be, we'll see about that =)

You have helped so many people and you really made me come up with my UA-cam channel and taught how to teach truth in UA-cam
can we just remember on what this guy has done? about five great advent kalendars that include from solving (actually) the pendulum problem to 24 ways to integrate cos , great improvised sessions solving whatever challenging problems or integrals, not to mention the 3 video series on fransen robinson constant derivation and the other series on gamma and related functions ...

Really sad that it's coming to an end. Thank you for reigniting my love for Mathematics ❤
Hope you have a great 2025🎉
you too :)
Danke very much for the content papa, your math videos got me into math and now im going into my countries TST, thank you ❤.
Thank you for the great content so far. It was awesome.
You too, stay safe and thanks for being a long time viewer!!!
