I stopped playing because I simply didn't have the time and the ability to manage my relationships and other hobbies. Your F2P UIM actually got me back into it due to the slow and steady approach and enjoyment of the game. I now get 1 hour of redwoods in during my commute and will be switching to karambwans after 99. I then also play 4-5 hours every weekend and have been having more fun than ever. Really enjoy the content man keep it up.

Love your acid soul-esqe videos to listen to. As a skiller who stepped away for a few years due to irl commitments, a lot of what you said rings true to my experience. Learning to be happy with your hour a day of gaming is difficult for someone who used to play 10. I think the important thing is knowing you are making progress and having fun while doing it.
Appreciate your videos and hope to see more of them.

While I do believe in an ideal world one would focus on macroefficiency, as Acid Soul once said, sometimes it is better to cool yourself in the shade of microefficiency. You addressed this of course when saying it is better to be flexible with your methods of grinding than to be rigid and do only the most efficient methods all the time.
If you don’t enjoy the most efficient method for a certain skill, you will of course burn out if that is all you try to do.
Would love to hear your take on UIM (p2p) EHP, such as going through each skill and saying what gives the best EHP and why. Also your thoughts on what perhaps might be a good, close alternative for similar EHP.
    Thanks!

i disagree that progress for the sake of progress is good. if you define success as simply reaching a goal and adopt an attitude of "willing and ready to take advantage of anything [you] possibly can that gives [you] an edge" then cheating in any and every form isn't off the table including botting. what is the merit in getting to the end of a marathon if you drove a car to get there? in this instance i do not see a compelling reason or justification to ignore the means.

One thing that I don't see discussed very often in the content creator community is playing other games. Something that I struggled with for a long time was setting healthy expectations for progress in my account when I like to play a lot of other games and I end up taking long breaks or going for stretches of time where I make little progress because my main focus during my gaming time is on something else. I would compare my achievements to someone who has been playing only runescape but for a shorter period of time and get demotivated. Since I've gotten over that hump I've enjoyed the game a lot more just making sure when I am playing I'm making progress towards my goals and letting those little chunks of progress I make add up over time. Now I'm gonna be maxing my account this week for the first time in 17 years of playing the game.

This video was kinda mid tbh. Many of the points about being efficient and everything don't really matter in the end when it comes to achieving long term goals. The only thing you should suggest to players is to be lenient with their training methods and the amount of time they play and to avoid burnout over everything else, because players that don't experience burnout have no limit to how far they can go. Efficiency is secondary

I played RS since 2005, and watched your videos since you did your first maxing series, time flies... Losing myself in games/hobbies/weed was how I coped with a purposeless life. The truth is that 99 capes, GP and even worldly success like promotions or friendships are ultimately a vapour that will dissipate as quickly as it arises. Consider the Gospel of Matthew 6:19-21, “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." We yearn for more than this life has to offer because there is more to be found. I pray that anyone reading this would come before the Father in submission, to gain access to true peace that is found in Christ. God bless you all. Please feel free to ask any questions, I would love to answer.

      @Szuubs Рік тому +1

@@oliverwebby1484 Thanks for the thoughtful question. Spending time on hobbies is not inherently wrong. I definitely enjoy spending time playing board games with friends, playing guitar, etc. The line is crossed when that "hobby" starts taking away from more important parts of life. It took a long time for me to realize that in playing RS excessively I was neglecting objectively more important things like sleep, family, music, work and, most importantly, time spent finding answers to life's big questions which ate away at me. If your conscience tells you, even for a split second, that RS is taking away from more important things, I urge you not to suppress that feeling like I did for many years.
Our purpose is to be a light unto the world, glorifying God (the source of all goodness) in everything that we do, that goes for all of us, believer or not. My hope is that everyone will choose the fullness that is found in a life obedient to our loving Creator. To answer your first question, I spend my time now sleeping better, eating well, working hard to provide for my family, time in fellowship with loving brothers and sisters, serving friends and family with the gifts God has given me and most importantly learning about the nature of our very being from His word.
All of that said, the glory is all to God because it is by his transforming grace we can walk in new life and be freed from darkness.

Tbh i don't consider anyone who maxed after 2017 on the same level as the OG's who did it before Nieve's cave rework/catacombs. Basically a fraudulent cape in my eyes. What's pushed me away from OSRS is Jagex continuously making the game easier for casuals to get 99's. I maxed before zeah even came out and since then they've continuously made updates to the game that trivializes this. I'm very elitist and the BEST time of OSRS was from 2013-2016 in my eyes. That was OG runescape. This frankenstein version we have now is not OSRS. It's RS2-1/2.
Faster XP rates, better drops, loot table changes, everything. Slayer used to be 60k an hour max efficiency. Bloodvelds were the best task in the game when I finished slayer. Ah, i digress. To be honest the best way to achieve "long term goals" in this game is to wait a few years for them to buff the xp rates of every skill by double the amount and then train it.

    • @AutumnElegy

That said I still really enjoy the game. I liked RS in '05 and '06 and could still enjoy 2011-2012, and likewise I think this version of the game is quite good, albeit different. Imagine what else you could have accomplished either in game or irl if you didn't have 200m agility on 5 accounts. That's what you wanted to do though and goals can change over time. Just because he didn't continue his main doesn't mean he isn't reaching personal goals, he plays his UIM now and focuses on irl. He didn't enjoy his main grind anymore, it wasn't that he failed. He doesn't even say to constantly change what you're doing. He says it's ok to switch skills if it keeps you going, don't be afraid to do lower EHP methods if it furthers your goal, optimize your time, and find where you can multiskill to 0 time. This video is about keeping you going even if it means doing less optimal methods overall and figuring out what that means for you and that's his point.

@@leesang-hyeok3287 He told me nearly a decade ago that he was going to bank a crap ton of Brimhaven Agility tickets as part of his larger goal of doing a massive record day on CML. He abandoned Brimhaven after a brief time and switched to other stuff, never to return. I have seen this happen time and time again among players in the Overall community. By switching it up all the time, they lose momentum and it makes it harder to come back and finish one’s main goal. Doing my 1b Agility goal did not prevent me from pursuing a career; in fact, I’ve applied the goal-oriented mindset I developed in RS to my real life career as well, which has been a big part in why I’m now pulling $150k this year as a Principal Software Engineer.

@@The1Jebrim Losing interest and not pursuing something that doesn't mean anything to you anymore doesn't mean you failed. He certainly could have done it and still could but he doesn't want to. He says in this video that taking extended breaks because of menial grinds that burn you out is bad. Tunnel visioning on an activity you don't see value in anymore is a really easy way to burn out. That's why he says that making concessions and finding what works for you to keep you going is what's best. He's right, not everyone can be a max ehp perfect route player and not everyone has to try to be. You can achieve goals and enjoy the game while not doing that. His advice is good for all types of players. It encourages optimizing time for macro efficient long term players, and balancing time for less efficient players.
Good for you that you've been able to be successful also but it doesn't seem correct to tear him down here.

@@leesang-hyeok3287 Even when he was claiming he’ll eventually get back to his Brimhaven goal, the very act of taking an extended break from it is what doomed it from the start. And it’s not just that one goal either, he’s set many goals that’s he’s failed to follow through on. Don’t listen to his advice. Have tunnel vision and focus hard on just one thing first before moving onto the next. Even his comments about doing buyables first is misleading; those who’ve never pushed themselves by doing slower, less afk skills early on find it difficult to transition from fast buyables to harder skills later on. In contrast, those who’ve done harder skills first end up breezing through the faster ones no problem. This is because they’ve built up their mental state and standards through harder challenges to be able to overcome the easier challenges.
