i got chora 826 for my denon pma2500ne amp, the sound is simoly amazing,,sparious, airy, everyrhing is super clear, inhear never heard details esily.amazing speakers.
Thank you for this review. I had these Choras 826 on top of my list but after struggling to find a hi-fi store near me that had them, I went with the SVS Prime Pinnacles due to 1) Budget 2) 45 days trial 3) Proven performance by many 4) Smooth/neutral sound. I ended up purchasing a pair of Pinnacles, one Ultra Center, four Prime Elevations and two PB-1000 Pro subwoorers before the prices go up in the next couple of weeks. I appreciate your free content.
I was hesitating to make a choice between these speakers but, luckily, you helped me to make up my mind. Thank you very much for your reviewing and comparisons - that's what many audiofiles really need.
Focal all the way 👌👍👏🤘 Also I don't mean to be that person who points out something that is not too important, but I have to mention it because I was called out a long time back. It's about how you pronounce Focal, it's pronounced Fo-cal. The company called me out many years ago when I started buying speakers from them 😉😁👌
Thanks for reviews. I’m looking at 826’s to run of my Rega Brio-R. Also if you ever show us as Dexter’s side kick, then I wouldn’t be surprised hahaha (just with gloves etc). I’m just kidding but the way, please don’t come find me hahahah.
French are kind of fussy about their pronunciation. I’ll continue to call them “Foh kul “ as I’m British and annoying French people is part of our existence.
Hy , i have the 600 series B&W speakers in a 5.1 home cinema setup with 603 S2 as front speakers. I power them with the Yamaha RX-A4A at 110 watts per channel. When listening to music in 2 channel stereo the 603 S2 acted as you described ( lack of bass, mids and highs to present, etc). Than i added to the sistem a 2 channel Rotel RB-1582 MKII power amp with 200 watts per channel just for the 603 S2 front speakers and everything changed( much more bass and better controled mids and highs, the stage opened, etc). 603 S2 are good speakers, but they are pretentious and need power and good quality amplification to sound as a B&W speaker should. Also i think they need at least 2-3 months of burn in to hear their final sound.
Thank you. I am really leaning towards the Focals. I have a Rogue Sphinx V3 Integrated and a small 8" B&W sub too, looking to replace my old 602 S2s which have treated me well! Any opinion on the Chora 826 vs Aria 926? Cheers!
Hi. Thank you for your professionality. I have a question: I have the Musical Fidelity M3si, which is rated at 8 ohm, while the 826 can go as low as 2.9 ohm (even though they are rated at a nominal of impedence of 8 ohm) . Could this be an issue? Thanks
for denon dra800h is better choice focal or bowers maybe acoustic energy radiance II/III? metal, rock, instrumental music and tv. room about 24m2. thank you
Hi, I'm trying to decide between the Chora 826s and the KEF Q950s. It would be a 5.1.2 system mainly for movies and gaming. It would be paired with a PB 1000 Pro and Denon x4700h. Please let me know your thoughts as I have not had a chance to hear the Focals in person.
Hi, those are very different sounding speakers. The Focal is more detailed and clear sounding but not much bass. The Kef is very wide sounding but warmer and less detailed with good bass.
@@OldtradesReviews I see, well what which would you recommend then mainly for movies? I’m also looking at the KEF R3s with the R line center instead of Q
My favorite and a speaker that I cant find any to replace is the Definitive bp9060 tower. Its amazing for movies with its 6 drivers firing in multiple directions and built in subs Definitive Technology www.pntrac.com/t/TUJGR0tOS0JHSktMSUZCR0pFRkhH Also great for music in 2 channel listening. The kick drums come through and it has no brightness compared to other speakers.
@@OldtradesReviews hey thanks for getting back to me. I had never seen these active towers however I am thinking of getting a separate sub where the active towers may not be so helpful.
I have a separate sub as well for the LFE channel. The 9060 drivers fire off the wall and towards the listener creating a large soundstage. and during scenes where the bass is supposed to be in the main speakers as well (set to large) it pounds away along with the subs LFE
Thanks a LOT for this video as this is exactly the comparison I was searching for! I‘m rather listening to Electronic or Hip-Hop music so I would like to have my speakers with a potent and crispy bass. What I don‘t like on some speakers is too clanking highs and snare drums. From everything I understood and read so far for this case also the Focal should be the better choice? Another question would be if you had the chance to test other speakers of the Chora or 600 series as I want to buy them as a 5.1 set up with the matching speakers of the same series. This would also be a pro for the Chora in my opinion as the integrated Atmos speaker would be perfect for this case. Anyway I will try to hear them side by side before I take a decision but would be very thankful for your reply. Thanks in advance.
Hi Your Welcome and thanks for watching. You may want to try the Polk Audio R700 and Definitive Tech tower 9060. They would provide more bass impact for the hip hop as the focal and bowers have little.... The Focal is much better than Bowers. The Bowers 700 series is more a competitor to the Focal 826. I have not tried other focal speakers.
Best way to get the right sound is to have a powered sub to go with the Focal 👌👍 This fills in nicely with the frequency drop that these towers have and really makes the sound full and perfect 👌
I would like 21 of these reviewers to open up one of the speakers to see what kind of cross over and all the stuff that goes inside of the speaker if it's a good quality or all bad
I am B&W fan but is true the focals soud Bigger than the Bowers not sure if better, because the tweeter of Bowers gives sounds that the others speakers don't, but both brands are great speakers👍👍
Nope. As long as they appeal esthetically, they sound really good. Depending n how loud you're playing them At lower level a sub is helpful. At a louder setting a sub isn't necessary anymore.
I have a pair of B&W 703 S2, I have been listening to them for about 2 months now, averaging 2-3 hours/day. For certain songs, the tweeter in one of the speakers (not both) sounds harsh, and it's only at like half volume with the Rotel 1572MKII amp at 120 wpc. Do you think it's a defective tweeter or could it be related to break-in for these speakers?
Отличная акустика, играют с Yamaha RX-V 459, но через год все подвесы в микротрещинах=( поменяли все динамики, но проблемма массовая, как писал специалист по ремонту это из-за клея который в них используют. Так что вам решать... жаль
Я тоже хотел купить focal chora, но судя по многочисленным, негативным отзывам, связанных с клеем и трещинами, я не купил chora 826. Спасибо таким людям как вы. Сейчас задумался о покупке aria 926 или 936.

how do you like your system?

Glad I could help!
Great review. I’ll bet you can do a great Christopher Walken impersonation.
This video was extremely informative & to the point.
Thank You for doing this comparison 🙏

Thanks

Thank you very much. I think that focal is better than bw.

Play test tones on each speaker and see if the problem persists. 3khz - 10khz is a good place to start.
Isn't Bowers and Wilkins made in China?
