I enjoyed the video. I have been testing Mowrator FPV with the Mavic Mini 3 Pro and the Neo. I have found a camera mounted lower in front to work well. There is an issue with using a DJI drone as the FPV camera. The blades on the drone are what keep the battery cool. The Mini 3 Pro lasted about 10 minutes before shutting down due to overheating. The Neo will do the same thing. Next step is to add a small fan.
You definitely don't need the mower in your view maybe just a tiny bit but mainly you need to see where you are headed. Think rear view mirror.. you don't aim it at the back seat if you are using it to back up. The position is fine just need more up angle to help find the line
I've got the same Neo case from StartRC, now I just need the drone. But unfortunately I live in the US, so I have to wait. Great video Russ, thanks for sharing. And good luck flying your mower in FPV mode, LOL.
Nice shirt! Maybe put the drone lower and more towards the back? You don't necessarily need to see that much of the mower, just more of a forward view. I look forward to V2!
You just saved dji's US business in case of a ban. "What? Those are not drones. Those are remote lawnmower eye units." Real fun idea putting the Neo on there 😅
I hope you patent that idea. Also just like you mentioned on where you should place your drone to get a better perspective view on where the mower is heading.
What if instead of the Neo, you mount a 360 camera like the Insta360 X2 or X3? I think you could get a used one fairly cheap since the X4 has been out for a bit. You wouldn't get the FPV feel, unless you can connect your goggles to your phone. Smart glasses might be an option, just a thought. Really fun video, and I agree that your little experiments have always been entertaining. I'm glad you're getting back to that.
@@51Drones That's what I am waiting for :). Saturday morning, get up and put the mow-bot outside and run the standard program and then go back inside and watch the game. That's what I am waiting for :)
Funny enough, I still haven't received the Neo flyo-more combo yet, but I always buy the case in advance for my gear, so I can have it all packed & protected right when I receive it. Guess what ?.... I bought that EXACT same case on Amazon, before watching this video ! 😁
LOL, thank you Russ for this fun and hilarious video 😂😂. Maybe tilting the drone camera up a bit more would give you a better view. 🙏🙏. Our continued thoughts and prayers 🙏🙏.
I’ve seen an industrial size one for doing steep hills along the welland canal in Canada this summer, it was kinda crazy seeing it on the slope and the operator down below.
You ened up with an exact replica - minus ALL the Features, Design and Engineering, of my Roborock S7 MaxV+ with remote camera that I can dial into, drive it around, and have Video Calls with my Pets. The Pets -love it dearly- hate it passionately, but I have great fun chasing them around when I am away from home (until my wife catches me: "are you chasing Oscar with the vacuum again?)
They need to sell the neo as a fpv combo with the joystick and goggles. By time i buy the goggles joystick and neo by itself thats almost a grand. Id be better off buying a used avata 2
Hi Russ, Definitely more "up" in the gimble please, and yes the catcher helps the contrast/definition of where you've been; to; "where next". 🤠 As the video quality is not the priority here, perhaps the vibration can be more acceptable/forgiven. 😵💫🥴😳🙃😁 PS for those of us interested in prayer support etc for you and family do you have a place we could go to for any updates in that regard?, or just "here" 😇🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 God Bless
If you lay on the hood of your car and looked down you wouldn't know where you were going would you? You need to place the Neo much much lower (as low as possible) and have it looking forward same as if you were driving your car. Then it should work fine.
That’s probably the worst setup I could think of as far as FPV goes. It’s not wide angle enough, and just the wrong product all together. If you just “have to use” DJI, then use a DJI air unit…any of them, with a fan attached. The most economical is just a 5.8 ghz video transmitter and receiver, which can be extremely cheap. Also, this is one of the worst uses for FPV. Just using a monitor where you could glance up and down makes much more sense.

6:13 👀 FAA has entered the chat.
Lol

I was surprised to find that you were looking down vice forward. It's like trying to walk across a field while staring at your shoelaces.

Yes definitely mounting it further back and angling the gimbal more up.
Nice shirt!

next week boy !
I’m here for the Neo case
Good! Buy it.
This is awesome. I am positive the second design will be better!
Love it! 😅
Good experiment Russ
Thank you very much for sharing as always Russ.

Real fun idea putting the Neo on there 😅
Lol! A buddy of mine gave me the suggestion.
You could say DPV, Drive Per Vision!
Haha, no FAA yet...
Really a fun video!
Angle up the camera more!
VTx setup on gimbal with headtracker for the win.
I hope you patent that idea. Also just like you mentioned on where you should place your drone to get a better perspective view on where the mower is heading.
I thought we didn't get the controller in the fly more combo in the US? Had that changed?
You don’t. FMC is only available in other countries.
😂 that’s awesome!

Does this thing learn your property and run autonomously?
No

@@badGamr There are some out there, but they need to be better.

I would think lowering the pole height so the view is forward more with distance too, just a thought. Good idea overall though.

Why not use a $30 AIO micro 5.8ghz analog FPV camera attached to 500mah battery and use your $50 Eachine analog goggles.

Why would you point the camera down? Point it up!
Point the camera ahead not down.
Use Herelink and cut grass from the couch

Shouldn't u be looking straight ahead?
