take a piece of watercolour paper and soak it in a tub until saturated. look at your inspiration and draw with neocolours or watercolours. You get a beautiful blooming of the paint. Abstraction that is helped by chance. I love your optimism, watching always inspires me to paint. I live in a city, but grew up in the countryside. Everything seems safer and more relaxed in the countryside. Thank you for your bravery !

Ohhhh that sounds really fun, thank you! I’ll give this a go 😊 thanks so much! It’s a good learning curve/challenge for me to draw in busier spaces for sure 💫

Aw thanks Orla! Glad to hear the tins inspired your sketching kit. They do make it super easy to access and use on location. Great tips and video!

Great video Orla. Those summer blooms are such great inspiration. I loved your points about not being precious and ditching the need to make beautiful aesthetically pleasing pages. For me working outside is a key part of my process, but it isn’t the end point, it’s about capturing information and sensory memories to draw on later in the studio. You captured that so well.

Thank you Clare! They are incredible right?! Grateful to the hard work of the community gardeners :) That's it for me too, exactly! It feels funny to say, but it's almost like the sketchbook art itself doesn't really matter - it's all the stuff that gets remembered in the process :) thanks for watching!

Lovely video, I will definitely take some of the ideas for my future outdoor sessions. ❤ Instead of a water bottle I use those refillable water brushes. I've also reused an old MiO drink flavor enhancer bottle and fill that with water. The tip is small enough to fill the water brushes without spilling and it can holds a lot of water. It's a nice hack.

Thank you! And that is such a good shout & tip; I need to get my hands on some water brushes and try it out 🩵

I so appreciate your comments about subconscious feelings when going outdoors to paint.. and also to just let go… paint what you feel…😊

Love this video so much! Thank you for sharing it! I love the part where you said the actual piece of art work is the lowest on your list because you want to enjoy nature and being outside. Great mindset!

    Hello
    I really liked this video.
Can you tell me if the Neocolors 2 are suitable for taking outside? In fact, I've never dared to do it because I'm afraid they won't stand the heat.
    Thank you.

Hello! I take them outside in the UK and Europe and it’s totally fine, but I haven’t taken them outside over 30 degrees summer heat - so it probably depends just how hot it is with you 😊

I live in over 30 temperature, my neocolours are absolutely fine! They’ve never seemed melty to me, even outside.
