CABO SAN LUCAS, MEXICO (Complete Overview)

  • I had come to Cabo San Lucas in the state of Baja California Sur. It was time to explore the town and see every corner of it, including Los Arcos which is one of the most famous areas of the town. I was determined to swim out to the arches off the shore, but that would come to be a really bad idea. Also enjoy some scenic drone shots of the whole town! I had previously traveled up along the whole west coast of Mexico and stopped in famous places along the way such as Puerto Escondido, Zihuatanejo, Manzanillo, Acapulco, Mazatlan, La Paz and many more.

I am 17yrs old and have been to cabo 13 times. Here are some of the tricks I have learned. Water is extremely cheap, stop at the oxxos and you can get massive water bottles for less than 2 dollars. Its a lot better to buy the water than to risk it and drink the taps. Cabo is farely safe because they understand it is a tourist destination and if tourism slows they make less money. Plus there is a pretty strong police/military presence. This doesnt mean you dont have to be careful still. You will see a lot of people selling things in the harbor like clay whistles, beads, sunglasses etc. Many of the ships in town sell the exact same things so dont worry about not going into a shop. The restaurants I recommend for fun/good dining are solomans, marros, and mi casa. For finer dining there is a place called mona lisa that has an amazing view of the arch/ sunset at night. There is also a farm to table breakfast experience thing that you can take a cab to. The drive was over 1 hour but the food was really good and it was an enjoyable activity. Fishing is really good and i recommend everyone does it, i have never gone out and caught nothing. The only thing is that the captain and first mate do a lot of the work and as an avid fisherman I wish they left some of the work for me. Do not go into the ocean on the pacific side it is very dangerous and not worth the risk. Go into the ocean on the sea of cortez side, it is pretty warm and is a very nice shade of blue. The water taxis are kinda a tourist trap i personally do not recommend taking them but they can take you to a beach very close to the arch I believe one side is called divorce beach and the other side is love/marriage beach. This is where they also filmed the scene in planet of the apes with the statue of liberty buried in the sand. There is a pretty big party scene that I have seen lasting until 6 in the morning. If you go in the fall depending on where your hotel is you may be able to see the whales migrating. I typically wake up early and watch them. In the airport when you land you will be bombarded by people trying to sell you timeshares that offer up to a couple hundred dollars for you to go to their hotel for the day. If you wanna waste a couple of hours in the morning you can enjoy the rest of the day free of charge since they will pay for food, experiences, etc. I have gone atv/ 4 wheeling which was very fun and was done on the pacific side along the beach. I stay at playagrande which is a very nice hotel, a little hidden restaurant is the sushi place in their sister hotel grand solmar. It is a bit pricy but the food is pretty good. But you can never go wrong with the aforementioned restaurants.

I lived here 30 years ago..
    Can't believe the difference 😳!!
The town had unpaved streets and the hotels and homes were rare.
I have NO idea how people get in and out of the marina now?
What a difference 3 decades makes...

I'm shocked when you said you were going to swim out to the arch. I thought you were kidding. The riptides in Cabo are well known and swimming is only designated in certain areas. Glad you are okay -- could have ended very badly for you. Take care and thanks for making this great video.

I lost a friend of mine last year from drowning in Cabo. It actually happened on a calmer beach you wouldn't expect. I almost died in Hawaii from a riptide in Big Island several years ago. It's a sad truth no one talks about tropical beach destinations. Be careful my friends.

Yes, the ocean is not to be treated lightly even if it seems calm. While in Brasil in Fernando de Noronha and I had found what seemed to be an amazing sandy beach break but on big wave I was slammed against a submerged rock. I thought my trip was over for sure but I recovered. NEVER swim alone in unknown water and ALWAYS talk to locals about conditions and safee places to swim as well as hazards. Like in Recife a tourist wouldn't be aware that people don't swim much there because of sharks. Be careful. This video scared me alot. I have been in dangerous surf, rips, fighting the currents will wear you down and eventually take you under. Learn how to best deal with rip tides, don't dive in murky or unknown waters. Be safe

    • @drx1xym154
      @drx1xym154 3 роки тому +3

@@chrisll3874 -- YES! This is why I also like to dive/scuba. There is a buddy system and I feel like with the tank and gear and paying careful attention to the surrounds and dive master - things are much better.
I like pools (calm water) and diving - deep water - beach rip tides are NO JOKE!

Sorry For Your Loss. My Heart goes Out To You, His/ Her To Family. My Heart Felt Condolences. May Your Friend RIP 💐🌷🌹🌹🙏 Btw, If It OK, With You Sharing The Name Of The Beach Please?? I Know A Beach Which Is A Very Safe Swimming Beach, Very Very Beautiful, And Popular!👍🌈 It's The Chileno Beach Driving North Towards San Jose Del Cabo. Around 20 Minutes Drive From Down Town Cabo. It Was Pretty Much Secluded, Prestine, The Water So Turquoise/ Blue, 'n Crystal Clear; Most Days At A Visibility Depth Of At Least 60 To 70 Feet On Average Summer Days, Fall & Winters As Well, SoOoOoO Much Stunning, Beautiful Beach! But IDK About Nowadays Bcos I'm Talking About The BEST Of Early CABO'S EARLIER, HAPPIER, HEALTHIER YEARS Before All The Crazy Huge And Too Many Hotels! It's Booming, More Influx Of Every Country, And Progressing Towards One Of The Most Important, Popular And Visited, And A World Renowned Tourist Destination For It's Abundance Of Marlin Fishing/ Game Fishing; Scuba Diving, Hunting, Beach Water Sports; Whale Watching Tours, Hiking,Quail And Dove Hunting, Mountain Hiking, Site Seeing Trips, Mountains Range Site Seeing Trips. Arts and crafts From The Regional, Local Artisans. Being In CABO ON VACATION IS An Opportunity To Go On Excursions To Near By Small, Quaint, Low-key And Very Beautiful, Picturesque And Very Old Magic Towns= Pueblos Mágicos! A Truly MUST DO / MUST SEE! Otherwise, Anybody Vacationing CABO OR LOS CABOS (WHICH INCLUDES SAN JOSÉ DEL CABO) WOULD BE MISSING THE BEAUTIFUL, OTHER NEIGHBORING TOWNS AND CITIES, SUCH AS THE PICTURESQUE, LIVELY YET SET BACK AND LOW-KEY TODOS SANTOS. AND, Of Course, The Capital of THE State Of The Southern Baja California Peninsula, LA Bellísima Ciudad De La Paz!!!🌈 That's, The Stunning BEAUTIFUL CITY OF LA PAZ About 1 hour 50 Minutes North From Cabo. It's More Of A Real Mexican, Traditional Town/CITY, Less Touristy, Less Clouded With International Tourists; However, With Top Of The Top Services Any Person With Superb Expectations In Terms Of Hotel Room Services And Restaurant Services Want To Enjoy. Last But Not Least Just To Mention A Little Bcos There's A Whole Lot More To Love And To Be Discovered, Enjoyed In La Paz, Well If Los Cabos Have Amaizing, Beautiful Beaches, La Paz Is And Has Never Been Surpass By Any Beach In CABO!! In Fact, It Has Many, Many Safe, Family, And Safer To Swim In Beaches Than CABO! Clean, Crystal Turquoise Clear, Secluded And Prestine!!🌈👍👍 So, I Do Love And Enjoy CABO But La Paz Is Not To Be Underestimated! Looked Over, Nor Missed AT ALL!! In Addition, La Paz Has Great Fishing And SCUBA DIVING, WHALE WATCHING TOURS, AND TRULY, VERY VERY IMPORTANTLY, THE COSTS AND RATES FOR WHICH IS PAID IN CABO IS 20,30, 40,50 PERCENT CHEAPER THAN LOS CABOS!! AND MORE 🌈

If you get caught in a rip tide don’t fight it. Let it pull you out then swim around the outside until the current stops pulling you and then just swim straight into the beach. Never panic.

I have seen men there guarding the beaches at certain times of the day. You have now put it into realization the dangers of going in.We only swim in the 7 pools the hotel has. I Love the life there. Great restaurants good bars, lots of peddlers.. its amazing I could live there.and Its safe to walk at night to and from the hotel. BEST EVER personal YT-shared Cabo experience! TY!🌵😎🌊
(Cabo beaches' dangerous Rip-tide 'pulls' are REAL. I walked from my beachfront resort to 'The Office' for breakfast, cautiously entering the water, only up to my KNEES, at which time a smaller, though fast-moving, wave rolled in and immediately engulfed my lower legs - a 'mere' wave, though one strong enough to nearly knock me DOWN and take me with it. Dangerous.)

My longtime friend has been in Mexico now for two-and-a-half years his dream is to get down to the end of South America in Argentina but for some reason he cannot make it out of Mexico because he likes it so much. William always makes the most of awesome video, this message is to everyone who wacth this video, nine out of ten beaches in Cabo you can't swim because of the strong underwater current of the Sea of Cortez, I hope we all learn something positive about this video and I am thankful that William is Ok🙏

Hey William, something to keep in mind if you want to eat local and reasonable priced food, ask for places who serve "Comida Corrida" . Usually a complete meal including fruit drinks for around 55 pesos plus/minus. Available almost everywhere, they mostly cater to the locals like workers etc.

Too Americanized for my taste. I prefer Manzanillo o Puerto Vallarta.. even though they are full of tourists.. you still get a taste of Mexico

What a swim. I had something like that happen to me on Sandy Beach in Hawaii, it took me a while fighting the rip current but I did make and was so tired and felt light headed. Glad that you made it back too William.

Yes William, as a former surfer I know a lot about rip currents. What is good to keep in mind is to do what you probably did, remain calm and dont waste energy trying to swin against it. It will eventually weaken and then you can swim parallell to land and in. Some people think that it drags you under water but it doesnt. Happy that you made it.
I am in Zanzibar now sinxea month back. It is really amazing here. Take care.

My son from California just visited Baja and said he felt like a foreigner among so many tourists from all over the world. So I told him to cash in his Mexican roots next time he comes over.

Nice video, excellent drone work. It is hard to believe it has been almost 4 years since I was in Cabo, your video makes me want to go back again. I was caught in a rip tide once, I was surprised how far it took me out. Luckily I had a surfboard and caught a wave back in. I recommend the water taxis, they take you everywhere, drop you off and pick you up again.

I'm loving your videos that have definitely made me want to return to Mexico when Canadians can travel after restrictions are lifted.
After seeing how beautiful Acapulco makes me think that it is safe for tourists.
One more thing, for the love of your twin brother, never again swim in unknown waters. Plus the mother in me says dont forget your SPF 😁

William, I've really enjoyed all your Mexico videos. I like that you walk everywhere and combine this footage with your drone an some simple maps. This gives a really good idea of the area for people to better triangulate and form an opinion about it. I have travelled to and around Mexico on and off for 35 years and love the country. My wife feels the same way and we love the country, people, food, beaches, architecture, etc. It is really sad that the drug cartels have stained the country's reputation and make even me hesitant to take my wife to some of the other states in the country you have passed through. Keep up the good work and we'll follow to see if you go to some other country's that might interest us in the future.

I don't know your spiritual beliefs, but Dude, you seriously have some guardian angels watching over you. The Pacific Ocean is not like the Caribbean Sea. It has stronger currents and the water is deeper. Be careful. Awesome video as usual. Looking forward to seeing more Pooool Tricks.
