The line “I will lay down my heart….and I’ll feel the power…but you won’t”, is the key to this song. It raises it above a thousand of other sad love songs and makes it something truly heartbreaking and universal. I am not a lover of commercial hits but his one still gets to me.
I am obsessed with this song - have been for years. Everyone who sings it brings out different aspects of it, because the song itself is so rich. What a treasure for us to be able to hear the composer - or co-composer - show us even more raw hues through his singing and delivery. As a classical musician, how often I wish I could hear Bach or Tchaikovsky or anyone in between communicate directly how he or she would have interpreted the music they had written.
What a great story by one of the songwriters of an awesome song. Pretty darn good rendition too.

People, this Man cowrote this song. He deserves your recognition beyond the industries insult he was given. He is an icon in my eyes . Should be yours too.
