      It’s because you have very little info on him that DPRK sends out. In reality, most of it is just propaganda and nonsense.
      Even the meeting with Carter, North Korea begged jimmy carter to come over to free a prisoner. The White House granted carters request. Kim Ill-sung told Carter that he would free the prisoners if Carter meets with him.
      Carter and White House told North Korea that this was just a private person and not representative of US government.
      When Carter got to North Korea, it took them 2 days to get the prisoner freed and pardoned and Kim held talks with Carter where he basicly begged for a day on getting food aid and a peace deal signed with US and ROK.

      "You have to remember that at home (referring to North Korea), President Kim Il Sung is treated as a combination of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and Abe Lincoln"
      -the actual quote by Jimmy Carter
      In the full context he was talking about how North Korean propaganda makes Kim Il Sung appear like a larger than life character. Not only did you leave out context, but you completely changed the meaning of the quote by paraphrasing it so that it adheres to your preconceived political beliefs. Literally just google the quote. You're a fucking idiot.

    Notice how Kim Il Sung is always filmed from his same slight-left angle; this is to hide from view, a large calcium-deposit tumor about the size of a softball on the right-back of his neck. From the jump-cut editing, the North Korean censors always kept the unappealing tumor from all newsreels. From what I've heard about it, I don't blame them.

    • @mattp.3949
      @mattp.3949 8 років тому

      All of the shots and images of Kim il Sung that you see here in this newsreel (and other North Korean newsreels) are taken from his left side, never do you see images of his right. You need to wonder why.

      Depends on what your definition of a leader is.... KIS rode the wave of being a Korean revolutionary in Manchuria during the Japanese colonization period, and later pursued a campaign of eliminating political opposition during the trusteeship period and later, during the Korean War. He failed to live up to his claims of a quick victory in the Korean War, and would have lost without interference by Chinese Volunteers. Yet, he was able to use propagandist ideologies and continued elimination of political rivals to establish legitimacy(perpetuated domestically by said propagandist ideologies). Now, of course, he couldn't do all this alone... So yes, he was able to lead himself, his family, and his cohorts successfully.
