Hey Rich : I was looking for an arch top guitar for a while, but I can not afford an L5 or ES-175 "Yet" :) Then the Epiphone 150th anniversary zephyr caught my ear, so I gave it a try and I think it is fantastic !! I wanted something something sounding like a mini Humbucker or Single coil and this one has single coils. When I got the guitar it needed some work like all of my new guitars did. I still need to polish the frets and change the strings, but it is already very responsive with good sustain for an Archtop. I know the price is expensive for Epiphone, but they really made a high quality instrument, it also includes a very good case and I understand they made a lot of costs re-designing this great instrument the video's I've seen don't even cover the sounds it is able to make, specially when you mix both pickups, also it has a nice guipsy like tone when played akousticly, maybe you can get one to give it a try :) The only thing wrong is they cut the bridge a little off, so I have to take it to a luthier and the bridge moves away when I loose the strings because it is 'floating'. You have to aline the bridge with the pickups, because otherwise the high E string will sound harch ! It played very light and the fretwork is spot one !
I just bought a 2007 es175 and I gotta say, I am not falling in love with it. I can’t seem to find a robe that I like. I put on the “special blend” which I like on my Eastman 371, but the tone just sound flat to me! I’m thinking about getting rid of it and getting a Heritage 575.
I am looking for an affordable, mid-priced 125 or single p/u 175 style hollowbody with a P90. Does anybody have a good recommendation, or one for sale?
I had an original 1948 es300…beautiful blonde single p90. Sounded beautiful….played like crap. Sold it…I wanted a functional guitar I could play, not fight.
You're mellow tones are sublime Rich... you definitely have the "touch"... 🥰

Fun hang. That ‘66 sounds sweet. Perhaps in the next one… but, I was hoping for thoughts on the Supro Royale😉. Cheers!

@@andrestorres4663 Heritage H575 is on my Radar. Carved Maple rather than laminated top.

The 'F hole archtop' design gives the best guitar sound and versatility, bar none.
