I had a pastor a LONG time ago tell me "Yes, God feeds the sparrows. But he doesn't throw the worms up into the tree." We all need to do our part, to do the work! I enjoy your talks!

I turned 70 last September. My one family member, my Darling Daughter is 37 and living in the next state over. I am widowed and by myself with physical disabilities. At this point in my life I'm a bit clueless about "having a dream" to attain to. I'm busy canning and dehydrating food for myself, and others. And I'm starting my little container gardening this week. AND, I am slowly learning to paint with Watercolor paints!

I'm working on one of my dreams right now. In 2014, at the age of 55, I went back to school to pursue a bachelor's degree. I didn't get my degree the first time around after high school due to severe depression. After 37 yrs as a nursing assistant, I lost my full time job, which forced me to do some deep, painful, introspection and alot of crying out to God about what to do next. I couldn't do physical work anymore, so it was logical to pursue something that is a career that would use my mind and the gifts and passions I had already. I talked to people who knew me well to hear what they had to say. Everyone confirmed what I was sending in my heart. I can only take 2 classes at a time, which is why It is taking so long. I am pursuing a career/ ministry as a Hospice Chaplain. It may be another 3 yrs before I complete all this; maybe more. But I will keep working on it as long as God gives me strength, opens doors, and provides the resources. Thank you for giving me an opportunity to speak about this. Blessings to you all...

Having been with you guys for quite a while now, I am enchanted with how D. J. has blossumed from the camera-shy, introverted wife of our good guy, easy-going hostand into a full partnership where she has opened her heart and witnessed both good and painful things; giving this page a depth and meaning that other channels either refuse to or simply can't bring forth. You guys are the real deal.

I love the fact that you don't seem like you got mad over Weston's decision to drop out of college. A lot of parents want their child to go to and stay in college all to get a bill from financial aid to pay and not the career you went to school for. I say that because I have a lot of friends that finished college have a degree but a job that has nothing to do with what they went to school for and is now struggling to pay that bill. Support from parents is what needed in life's decisions and you are doing that... Great job!!!

I keep thinking back to when I 1st started watching Arms Family Homestead, it was almost impossible to get DeJay in front of a camera and she sure didn't like to talk on camera ... and NOW she is so open and seems like a totally different person! Love the way that Daniel & DeJay interact with each other, SO MUCH LOVE !!! I can just see DeJay IF she ever gets 40 -50 employees ,,, she would walk in the packing room and says: That's NOT the way you fold that shirt, as she grabs it out of the employees hand and refolds the shirt ...

Hi from MN: When I met my future husband 51 years ago, I let him know that my greatest, most important career goal/life dream was to be a wife and mother. He agreed with me with all his heart ❤️ Now married 45 years, we raised three beautiful children whom have given us 4 loving grandchildren. During those years we have supported each other in all our adventures which included me going back to school in my early 40’s and becoming a nurse and I did that for 16 years:) May everyone have the opportunity to fulfill their dreams!! Thank you so much for sharing your life!❤️

It is sooo good to see DeeJay smiling and laughing. Ya'll deserve some smiles and happiness and good health! What a blessing it was to be able to be part of that huge moment for someone so famous and utilize that experience to help your family understand dreams/goals. I think it's great you were able to enjoy that AS A FAMILY where so many families are disconnected, it's refreshing to see ya'll so intune with each other! I love it! I love your content and family and that you have a strong faith, not afraid to share it as well as your morals and value. That is so wonderful, refreshing and actually reassuring that our world hasn't gone to complete hell! Keep up the amazing work/content. I know ya'll have been through tons, but each mountain we have to climb is one less in front of us. God guides us to where HE wants us to be, sometimes it may not be what we want but it is what we NEED! Hugs to ya'll ! P.S. As a mother of 3 kids in their 30s and now raising 2 grandkids, I can tell you something and I hope this reassures you. Us as parents beat ourselves up all the time about what we think we should do/should have/could have etc. Once your child is an adult, they are going to do whatever THEY want. THE HARDEST THING is to stand back and watch, and watch some choices we may not make. HOWEVER, it is THEIR lives, they need to learn to make their mistakes, live the consequences and learn from them. Yes guide them, be there for them, love them but yanno what, that really is all you can do and of course PRAY PRAY PRAY! You raised them right, you've given them the tools to be successful and now, it's up to them. Just like Daniel was saying that God give you opportunities but you responsibility in it, same with the kiddos. They have thier own path and it's their responsibility to work the blessings God provides to them. Hugs to ya, it will be ok.

Hi. I want to tell you don’t give up on Weston’s education. It may be true that college isn’t for him but that could change. My story is that I got out of high school and went to work. I worked four years, then went to college. I guess I had to mature a little before going. It could happen for Weston. But regardless, as long as he walks with Jesus, he’ll figure it out.

I too went to work only 3 months before high school graduation. I went on a mission trip one year later where I was feeling God calling me into another profession….nursing. While on my trip, I was placed in a trio singing with two nurses…I came home and saved money to pay for Practical Nursing school. I worked as a nurse in ICU for 10 years, until I had my son…then, I became a single mother…divorced, rededicated my life to Christ and went back to school for elementary education….which I did until 10 years ago. Weston probably needs to grow up more and relax with life and figure out what God wants him to do. It’s ok. Your lives are terrific in God. Thank you! DeJay, I’ve shared before that I was in an abusive marriage, and so this post is probably confusing. I relate with you and Weston’s life before Daniel…and Weston can see God is using that to prepare him in life. We will keep him in prayer…God will wrap His arms around him and lead him in the right direction. I love your channel and watch it religiously. I love how you have wrapped your lives around Lester, Jami and Jake, too🙏🏻💕🙋🏼‍♀️🤞🏻

My husband and I raise a special needs child which is such an adventure and challenge at the same time. I felt you, Dejay, when you said that you have to relay on faith to guide us in raising a child. Our child turned 13 this past October and puberty is taking the challenge of raising him to another level. I spend many times crying while praying because I feel like I am struggling to raise him to be as successful as possible when he is an adult. Please say a prayer for us as we navigate and determine what is best for his future.
Now, for my husband and me, we are spending more time growing our garden for more healthy and sustainable food. We have implemented some of Daniel’s ideas even though we are having to garden in our backyard. I started getting more in depth with canning over the last year and learning more dehydrating methods to preserve our food.

First I wanna say I love watching y’all. I’m a fellow Oklahoman. I live in northeastern Oklahoma near Tulsa. I’m also the mom of 5 sons. I completely understand what you were saying about your 19 year old. When my oldest son (he’s now nearly 32) was 18-19 he always talked about how cool it would be to have a cool scar on his head or face or someplace cool from an accident. I worked in the Children’s hospital at the time and I repeatedly told him that those cool scars often come with other not so cool consequences. Like a head injury or something. But no matter what I said he didn’t listen because what does mom know.

I love listening to you two. I'm so glad that there are Christians that proclaim their faith and give God the glory.
Weston will find his glitch. He's got a good head on his shoulder. He'll do fine. It reminds me of when my son decided not to attend college, I told him to find something that he was going to passionate in because you don't want to be in a field that you don't enjoy. Be a productive citizen and respect people and have faith in God. That's what it is all about. You can change you mind about what you want to do in life. I worked in my passion for 36 years, working in the healthcare industry taking care of the elderly with Alzheimer's. This was after becoming a cosmetologist and working for 5 years in a salon. It just wasn't my Mitch, so I know how Weston feels. DeJay I absolutely love yours and Daniel's podcast. God Bless your family. You are such good people.

Deejay, I am right there with you. I also wanted to be a stay at home Mommy & wife & did that. We lived on one income. Yes it was hard. To many people today aren’t willing to do that. However I/we knew that we didn’t want someone else raising our children. Only after my children were in middle school did I work outside of the home. After our daughter got married and decided to start a family, I retired, so I could spend time with my Grandchildren. Our daughter was also a stay at home Mommy, until her last, went to School. While raising her children she did online classes thru Drexel University, to become a school guidance Counselor. Also elementary education.she Graduated with a 4.0. Fortunately she has been able to work in the elementary school her children attend.

Your family was so lucky. Three of my friend’s lost their son’s in a 20mth period. Our friend’s 17 year old had an off road motorcycle accident and was turned off life support 3 days later. Then that same year another of our friend’s 17 years old son died when his ATV crashed into a tree. It was devastating. Then 10 mths later another friend’s 18 year old died from a car accident on a stormy night. My son was the same age as these 3 boys, I was over protecting of Dylan. Scared that it would happen to him, but in our grief our mum’s group with kids all the same age became a lot closer. Love, support and friendship has helped us cope. Our kids have learnt the importance of saying “I love you”, before you leave. To make sure they are situationally aware when driving and never drink and drive or get in a car with someone that has been drinking. I sent my son to an advanced driving course. Thankyou for sharing with us. 🤗 ❤ 🇦🇺

great job on teaching your boy that it's ok if things don't work out. they need to know they should keep trying when they find the right goal and that they can succeed. having a decent support group also helps tremendously.

That’s funny you mentioned that video as I watched it this morning. I found you because I went on a search for greenhouse/glasshouse growing vegetables and that’s how I’ve discovered you and I’ve been watching you ever since I’m from Bickley in Western Australia and I love that video by the way. I would like to see your greenhouse currently but you mentioned that video of you collecting mushrooms and it popped up on my to watch list this morning which I did watch and thought my gosh after watching it for 15 minutes I noticed you didn’t have a beard. ❤️❤️ to the arm family.

When I first retired at age 70 it felt like vacation time for probably the first 6 weeks and then I settled in to retirement. I imagine that you all probably felt the same or similar when when Daniel first left the force. It's definitely an adjustment 🥰🥰

I love this vlog. I love your honesty in everything you do. I also believe we follow God's path. I never has biological children, so after my first cancer, I became a foster mother for ten years. That was God's path for me. On my second cancer which is much for serious now with kidney issues and in and out of the hospital now. I am wondering what my path is now. Watching your videos gives me joy. It was great to see your beautiful black cat again. I saw him in the background when you were cooking the morels. Love your wonderful family. Bless all of you.

I totally get it with what you are going through with Weston. Hang in there! It does get better. It takes boys longer to mature so just keep on turning it over to the Lord. Mine is now 37 and is married with 3 kids and is a great dad and husband. It took time, lots of time and lots of tears. But it is all worth it now.
