- Derek Hough references wife Hayley Erbert's health struggles during his acceptance speech at the 2024 Creative Arts Emmy Awards. The 'Dancing With the Stars' judge holds back tears after winning Outstanding Choreography for Variety or Reality Programming. As Derek notes in his tribute, this comes one month after Hayley was diagnosed with a cranial hematoma and underwent an emergency craniectomy.
Derek, we need more heartfelt, passionate, amazing souls like you in this world. The whole planet would heal.

I'll give them the benefit of the doubt, and think that they didn't know what Derek has been going through in this last month. Apparently it was too much for Derek to even explain it. God bless him. In our hearts he got the standing ovation.

These were the Primtime creative Emmys, choreography, book authors, broadcasting, etc. Artistic and technical development. This was a day before GG. It’s not the main film and tv Emmy’s, that’s at the end of January.

He's a believer and was obviously VERY emotional because his wife literally had life-altering surgery. GOD knows his heart. And thank GOD for that.

I have never liked him or his sister. They are both so arrogant and self entitled. I always fast forwarded their dance routines. They were always paired with people who already knew how to dance. The judges always gave them high scores even after giving them bad reviews. NOW, with what his wife is going thru, he has been humbled and given him a new appreciation of good health and love. Wish his wife a speedy recovery and a healthy life.❤
