If wiring is too much of a hassle for your situation, I paid around $16 at my local COSTCO for an 8 pack of LED pucks. I can touch them individually or use a remote to turn them all on or dim them too. The remote controls up to 36 pucks. Works great!
I trying out the puck lights as well. For $20 it's worth a shot to see how long they last. So far they are working good. I like that the remote has different timer settings so you don't have to remember to turn them off
All this was great except you did not show how you added a light switch by the doorway and how you routed the wires to the power and light strips. There are studs in the walls. Did you route the wires in the bottom cabinets ???
We love our wire nuts here in the states lol. I’ve never seen one come loose, but they do seem primitive. Those push connectors were pretty sweet looking.
@@conqwiztadore2213 Every time someone uses electricity those wires heat up a little bit which means they expand and when it happens many times that twisted bundle start losing up and there is possibility for spark. All those wire nuts are banned in my country only push connectors are being used.
My understanding is you only need gfci when the outlets were within 6 feet of a water source or outdoors. I could be wrong. I'm a landscaper not an electrician.
There could be a gfci outlet earlier in the circuit (and the lights are on its "load"), or the whole circuit is protected with a gfci breaker, or the local laws don't require it in that situation somehow.
Nice job on this one - however I would have located the switch under the cabinets - a switch next to the door looks like a room switch to me, but thats just me....
Those screws swing out wings that press against the inside of the Sheetrock so the box can’t fall out and the box has ears that hit the front of the rock so the box can’t fall in.
Hmmm I wonder if the plug strip is gfci protected....hopefully 20 amp rated wiring in the strip? Are these on the required 20 amp dedicated kitchen circuits? I guess if you used a gfci breaker. The 15 amp plugs in the strip are legal but I hope the wiring in the plug mold was #12.
If it's just a retrofit, and not running new wire from the breaker, then it's not needed. He's just replacing the existing outlets with a new one in the same spot.
Nothing lasts for ever but you'll easily get 5-10 years out of these vs. those old flourescents that would need a new bulb every year and a new ballast. In many cases they sell replacement LEDs and worst case, you buy a new fixture after 10 years.
Not sure what fluorescent bulbs and ballasts you've had experience with, but it's actually more like bulb replacement every 5 years and ballast replacement maybe once in 20 years.
I have a live wire coming under my kitchen cabinet, but the light I got has no switch on it. Is it legal to put a junction box with a switch between the light and live wire?
