    excuse me sir but there is a definite value for 0.25. it is located in -1.96. I was wondering whether this was a slight oversight in your end or there is another explanation regarding this as there are 2 possible places we can find the 25th percentile. The one in -1.96 and the one you chose

    Hi Steve, I sure appreciate your time and expertise in statistical information and teaching. I am wondering if you could help me solve a problem. I received a test result for a chemical called 1-bromopropane.
    The LLOC is 4.0
    The 75th percentile is 11
    The 95th percentile is 46
    My level is at 72.
    Would this be considered as high or not? Is there a way that I can calculate what percentile it is at based on the limited information that I have?

    Why do we look for negative z value in case of 25th percentile and positive z values for 97.5 and 95 percentile?

    • @crowsmathclass
      @crowsmathclass  Місяць тому +1

      We are on the left side of zero. Those are negative z values.

    • @crowsmathclass

      The problems usually say greater than or less than. Or they will say above or below.

      Assume the random variable X is normally distributed with mean 50 and standard deviation 7. Find the 78th percentile.
      I figured it out to be the percentile is
      55.41 I had to guess at greater than or less than. Any advice?

  • @mrbeans6405

    how do you work out sigma and mean from only having values of area and Z value?!?

    • @haraldriisager8594
      @haraldriisager8594 3 роки тому

      Do you also have the x values? If you do, just use z=(x-mean)/sigma for 2 different z and corresponding x values, and then just use a system of equations to solve for the mean and sigma.
