    Awesome purchase. The coins of Constantin I. and his sons are the most common coins of the Roman Empire, so over here in Europe you can buy them for a few bucks each. And as always, condition is king, so some pretty nice portraits justify higher prices. The main question on this assortment is how to handle the sand patina. Some collectors like these coins "as is", others want to get rid of the dirt. Greets from GER, U.

    The Roman Empire begins with Augustus Caesar who was the first emperor from 27 BC to AD 14. The Roman Empire can be divided into 2 large periods of history - from Augustus to the ascension of Diocletian in AD 284 is called the Principate. From Diocletian to the fall of Rome in AD 476 is called the Dominate

    Augustus, Tiberius, Caligula, Claudius I and Nero belong to the Julio Claudian dynasty of emperors who ruled the empire from 27 BC to AD 68. Year 69 AD is known as the year of 4 emperors - Galba, Otho, Vitellius and Vespasian.

    Its no wonder that many were found, who would want to burden themselves with that lot?
    If they were silver or gold, that would have been remarkable.
    Its a shame the US hasnt learned from history.

    Hey Christian, Quick question, How do you verfiy that these coins are real? Are there specific documentations on these coins or do you just buy from certified sellers?

    • @TreasureTownCoins
      @TreasureTownCoins  3 місяці тому

      I buy from certified sellers and have bought/sold tens of thousands - so there's a general look that I'm comfortable with!

    Vespasian founds the Flavian dynasty which rules from AD 69 to 96 and includes Vespasian and his two sons Titus and Domitian. Domitian is followed by the Antonine dynasty - the period of 5 good emperors - Nerva, Trajan, Hadrian, Antoninus Pius and Marcus Aurelius. The period from Augustus to Marcus Aurelius is called the Pax Romana or Roman Peace when Rome is at the height of its power.

    The Roman Empire divides permanently into 2 parts in AD 395 into the Western Roman Empire which endures to AD 476 with Rome as its capital and the Eastern Roman Empire or Byzantine Empire with Constantinople ( modern Istanbul) as its capital, which lasts for 1000 years and falls to the Ottoman Turks in AD 1453.
