Yooooooooo!!!!🔥🔥🔥 Only God knows how long I've been obsessed with that tumbao. Can't wait to get out of work and give it a shot. Thank you so much Eric, I've been watching your videos religiously for a little over two years now and my playing have improved more in those two years than all the time I've been playing before that. We are blessed to have you mano! ❤
I remember thinking it was Kachiro and not his dad because on the concert that the PuertoricanAll Stars pays homage to Marvin Santiago, Kachiro is on the congas and I remember sitting with my father in law having some drinks and playing dominoes and suddenly hearing Kachiro doing the exact same thing but just not that long, he would just do it here and there and me freaking out telling everyone about that tumbao even when they didn't had a clue about what I was talking about 🤣
Tanks for your chanel of youtube.❤
Eric ! This maestro have been my idol ,of all the salsa congueros this guy had a style that can't compare to any one . Specially with Bobby Valentine. It was the sazon on the band .... senior Tompson . Thank you Eric saludos y salud brother....
The way Danny Thompson played on the Studio version "Libro de amor" and on Salsa Saturday Night tv live version of " Tu rica boca" was unbelievable!! it was like his trademark!! it sounded so spectacular!!
i digg that you put the 2/3 clave AND counting in !!! i got confused first, thinking it was 3/2 clave and a switched around rythm... keep u the inspirig work hermanoo ;)
Good feel and close. In the beginning of your clip (Danny Thompson Sr. Look Closely at his hands). Also in that concert you got that clip off of, El Jibaro y la naturaleza, Kachiro does it in a moña a little before Pedro Guzmán’s quatro sólo. My favorite conguero in Bobby Valentin band with respect to the others who have come and gone.
Buy a baaaaaasss! Congas are a great complimentary instrument. The hand strengthening in bass playing will do things for the congas and vice versa. I bought a J bass a few years ago and haven't looked back.
Thank U Eric Sir!! U have already prepared Us to play this Groove through Teaching Us the Poncho Sanchez Tumbao a while back!! Request to accept My Homage to You as My "Guru"!!
Hey thanks so sad that most of salsa folks out there don't know Danny he play for Bobby and Tommy and other great bands great Congo player should be in the salsa hall of fame
Kinda a Johnny Griggs (James Brown's conga player) -Thing! Griggs did this thing where the first phrase is kinda like that. Then he left his right hand on the RT drum for the second half. *Like on "Super Bad" At first I didn't think he knew what the hell he was doing! But, it's brilliant! It's like an open-handed Tumbaos with the parts split on separate drums.
Very nice rhythm and a fantastic Tutorial "como siempre"! 👍 But why do you start at this difficult point with the offbeat Slap? I recommend to start with the Clave at the one of the 3-side (For all of us who had the same problems at first to feel the groove 😁). If you don't mind I show this in a "little" Tutorial with reference to your clip.
Hey Eric great congo player u will alot from also potato. Jerry Gonzalez,Milton cordona, and Eddie Montelvo great salsa thumbs also Juan Rodriguez from conjuto Libre.
Eric, hello. How you r doing. Man, I m so honored follow your conga playing. Thank you so much. My question ; it s a long while ago you ve mentioned about payed lessons. Is this still possible? Can you explain me how. Thanks , I ll wait for your answer.
Always love your videos😊 Btw, my dad sells a tongue drum he invented. Its called a "rekonga". It would mean so much to him if you could check him out!!! His website is Rekongadrums.com

One song that you can really hear loud and clear ,is libro de amor by Bobby Valentin ..... Mr Thompson on congas ...
Hahaha yeaaaa this is the Tumbao I’m referencing from him

Yea the song itself is in 2/3 clave... so I had to include it as the feel is what makes it make sense! Haha
Amazing! Thank you for your inspiration and dedication Eric!
candela!!! man i need to get me some congas so i can groove. "nadie se salva de la rumba a cualquiera se lo lleva hasta la tumba"

Wow! Thanks again for this Eric, I am now downloading Bobby Valentin’s top songs in Spotify this will definitely help me on my practice jam.
Un fuerte abrazo!!!

amazing stuff on this channel thanks so much!!
From a day excellent work
It may not be easy but it sure is fun...thanks.
It’s time to breakout the Bobby Valentin Records!
Esa viene pronto!!! 🔥🔥🔥

BIG FACTS!!!! So unfortunate!

Love it! Sounds like a variation of Songo to me...?
For your next tumbao breakdown, can you please do Pedro Conga’s tumbao?

Eric caballo saludos, Anthony Carrillo "mis raices" listen to it
This is great, giving a hard time hearing the clave against the patter. Any ideas to help? Thanks
You may have done it already but will you be demonstrating the New York Mozambique?

It sounds like the cowbell of timbal
sounds like a normal songo?
That’s cause it is. It’s a songo, not a tumbao he’s playing.
Always love your videos😊 Btw, my dad sells a tongue drum he invented. Its called a "rekonga". It would mean so much to him if you could check him out!!! His website is Rekongadrums.com
