Nad K Thanks! I actually have done tons of work to this car and made videos on it all, but I never get everything completed before winter came and interrupted. I will be back on it this summer and finish up all the videos I started on both it and my ‘89 300CE which I’ve also been working on but just haven’t finished yet. Thanks for watching!(-:
@pamhannam3669 Good luck. Hopefully, you don't encounter as much rust in there as I did. Mine never leaked to drop for the few years I had the car after the repair. It did end up springing a leak under the back window and that was about the point I had had enough with it and let it go to somebody else. (I daily a W124 however)
There is a reason why smoke smells are the hardest to kill, because heated odour particles are the smallest and penetrate the most. That is why I used a candle because in theory those heated odour particles will penetrate deeper than the mouldy smell I was trying to kill. Sadly this car had multiple leaks and other issues and I ultimately gave up on it and sold it. (with full disclosure of the problems).
DO NOT use that mold spray on your leather!!!!! Use AmourAll Disinfectant wipes for white mold THEN buy some rice-filled that absorb moisture/humidity...great video!
Hi, I just purchased 1990 560 sel and I have to replace the seal that is at the bottom of the windshield- any idea if it can be bought after market or it has to be oem? Thank you for any help.
Hi, thank you for the quick reply. I cannot find anything aftermarket that has same/similar design as the original cowl seal on the Benz. Also, it looks like that seal is not doing much- with or without it the water ends up in the same place- am I correct?
There’s a giant hole in the car how can you say that’s not the problem?! It never leaked a drop following this repair, I don’t post unproven videos, the car sat through a couple of good rain storms before I posted this video.
Thanks for making this video, Matt, and keeping the W126s alive…
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for the feedback.(-:
I want to give you a HUGE thanks for making this video. It really helped me out as I am cleaning my recently acquired "87" 300 SDL
So happy to hear that! Enjoy your new car.
You sir, have great taste. Out of all the classic benzs you chose a black W126. Great choice 👍🏻 would love to see more videos

Thank you for such an informative video, I am getting ready to tackle this issue on my 1990 300SEL. Wish me luck! ❤Canada 🇨🇦

Dude, you just blew past me in subs. Well done.
boofighter Thanks! Been trying hard to grow it.
I had the same thing on my 420. Frig going to Crappy Tire today too
Good luck!
@@CarswithNash I did exactly as you showed and the passenger side had more filth than a Liberal party convention in a garbage dump.
Why candles to kill odor? Never heard of that. I was thinking leaving a tray of baking soda inside overnight (once it's dry)

TZakPol I don’t see why aftermarket would be an issue, a glass shop might be able to help you more.

How many amps should the battery be for the w126 300 se?
Your dog looks like a Tiger.
boofighter He’s pretty cool alright, actually belongs to my neighbours but he likes to come visit me when I’m working.
Good information here
256 Garage Thanks!
Is it still dry, after 18 months?.
remove the battery, then remove the battery stand and you find more to clean there another drain
Yes I cleaned under there, but there was no damage and it wasn’t what was causing it to leak.
but I think your problem is not there
front sunroof drains are bad

I think rubber coating just lets moisture sit, and the metal will keep rotting.
It was meant to be a temporary repair and it definitely worked, for the time I owned this car it never leaked in that area again.
