Watching this class win games with 45-55 max health and ridiculously high value cards makes me feel like I'm watching an adventure class that shouldn't even be in pvp.
You should try control priest! Got me to diamond five today, and it felt REALLY strong. Pretty favored against even Blood DK, too, since you can steal their Patchworks and Mograines. The trick is to not go for the new overheal cards, haha. (for the curious, I cribbed my list from Chump)
I've been playing Control DK for the last week, just with more legendaries and more win cons. Not as early game oriented as this one but I remember a match where I played 5 Vampiric Blood, oh boy. That rouge was not happy.

This is by far the worst feeling deck to play against in the game, deatknight has so many board clears and cheap removal options, playing any big minion is immediately punished
The cursed irony of my life as a longtime, somewhat jaded hearthstone player new deck that is my style comes out. it sucks, but I play it anyway because it's fun. It gets buffed / new cards come out that make it really good, and it becomes popular, and now I hate it. cool deck. glad to see you having fun with it. I gotta remind myself to just have fun and not get so worked up about the good decks and people playing them too much.

The moment a deck becomes popular, people will find the best decklist(s) and all experimenting goes out the window. You either play the best tried and true deck or you're just playing sub-optimally, which despite being fine to play, just feels bad.
I love that control is back though my slight issue with it is that discover is a bit nuts here with discovering a lot of triple rune stuff, mainly like frostwyrm's fury or 4th vampiric blood but that's about it. Wish stuff like control warlock or control warrior were viable.
Yeah, death knight is really profiting from a small discover pool and super-high quality spells due to the rune system allowing for those more powerful spells. I think maybe they should just ban triple-rune cards from the discover pools. Or they make sure any discovered cards align with the runes originally chosen for that deck.

@blobmarley1064 What about changing the rune system so that discovered cards with runes are less powerful if you don't meet the rune requirements - like lower stats on minions, lower damage, or higher cost of spells, or some nerfs to effects e.g. destroy 1 instead of all for Soulstealer? Granted it would take a considerable amount of rework and might be too complicated to incorporate.
@@petermaguire8139 way to much work i feel, you gotta nerf every card in a certain way, then you gotta add them to a seperate discover pool that only triggers in a specific condition. I really don't mind if DK just can't discover some of the more busted cards. It'll open up the chance for control decks from other classes to not be horrible
I’ve made my own Control mage deck that has been working rather well. Lots of value can be generated from discovers and copying spells and it has an annoying amount of sustain if you copy solid alibi a lot.
One of the Blood DKs I played against was playing 2x Paparazzi (battlecry: discover a Legendary minion). I ended up winning the game pretty quickly so I didn't get a chance to see how good it was but it seems interesting. I figure that the Death Knight legendary pool is small enough that'd you'd have a high chance of discovering some pretty big bombs, like Mograine, Patchwerk, Sindragosa, or Lord Marrowgar. What do people think?
There's a very viable control priest and mage deck as well. Not tier 1 but you can get legend with them. Probably some others too. Post rotation is always the best time for control decks to shine. I'm top 4k legend EU with a 40 card mage deck which can also get insane armor. I had 85 effective health in 1 game. The priest and mage decks are a lot of fun because they generate a lot of cards so the games vary a lot. The variability from generation hurts the win rate a bit of course but most of the time you can get cards you want/need.
Been playing Blood DK in platinum ranks and it's performing amazingly. With the disappearance of hero cards it truly became disgusting. It can still lose to aggro shadow priest and the stupid Anubrekan, Jailer, Tony druid deck, but it's a hard counter to pretty much every other aggro deck.

I didn't play a lot so don't have a lot of stars on ladder and I love it. Am currently in Plat with a control warlock deck and I've had a lot more fun with this expansion than during the previous year ^^
It is a control deck just not a climbing viable deck. Blood DK just has more tools. Although Thad warlock and I would say Hero power druid are good counters to this deck specifically.
Top legend is super greedy right now. It's greedy to kill this deck. Relic and Tony druid are so strong, then miracle has reappeared, without Draka. It's crazy how divergent it is-- frost DK and pure paladin are T1 diamond-legend and own Tony druid but there are fewer and fewer the higher you get.
The discovers and the school teachers are what make this deck wrong. Being able to play multiple mograines, patchwerks and the health pool increasing spells turns this into a deck it feels infuriatingly frustrating to loose to. And don't get me started on the 7-mana combo "gain-ten-health-summon-a-3/6lifestaeal-and-two-5/5s"...
Regis, i feel like the control priest deck list is great for you. Plenty of removal, card generation by discovering opponents cards, just a fun deck overall. On HSreplay, its called Svalna priest and is mid tier2 deck rn (but I am 14-4 currently with it in diamond soon to be legend)
I’ve been playing a big Shaman with From De Other Side and bolstering it with the overload package, and I crunch down blood DK. It’s sort of meta counter.

While I like the concept of Frostwisper it basicl make the Scourge unplayable in to many match ups. I would like to see the concept slightly reworked so its not to fast but stlll creat a clock? Like taking 20 dmg or somthin so you can maybe stabelize with the mana cheat to avoid some of the consequenzes in spacial after random generation? Or Start drawing fertuige cards on top of your normal start of the turn draw prolonging the effect to more turns but make it way harder to defend constatnly? Somthing that is not as unavoidable would be better in my opinion.
Frostwhisper isn't really bad if you ask me. it is really good at what it is supposed to do, which is allow combo decks to do stupid stuff. It doesn't need to see play outside of that.
I copied this deck and literally the first game was against this deck..... I ended up quitting on fatigue as he had better RNG.... I hate this game sometimes
Hate this deck with a passion. Games against it do not feel fun, I'm not a fan of having to get my opponent to 4 health 8 times before they finally run out of heals and die. 30 minute games full of my opponent spamming fucking "MoSt INTrIgUiNg" every 5 seconds until they finally die. Cards like Patchwerk, vampiric blood and soulstealer 100% need nerfs, I don't know how they thought it was fair to make a twisting nether which also summons a 5/5 and gives up to 13 corpses
Patch (and Mograine) just needs to be removed from the discover pool. Vamp and Soul are fine enough (you could make soulstealer lose 1 attack for every minion destroyed above your minions destroyed making it a 0/5 as empty wipes, but its main point is just being corpse TN).
@@ANDELE3025 I'd say change Soulstealer to a set amount of damage instead of destroy, and I'd up the corpse cost on vampiric blood. I've never quit hearthstone before but current blood DK is making me tempted more and more each time because it's all i fight and it's just so tedious
Also Gnome muncher, I think either it should have an attack removed or lose taunt. There's nothing more frustrating than my opponent healing for 5, killing one of my minions and putting out a taunt with lifesteal and still be able to play more
I know you love these decks, but man I hate them so much. I hate that the player of this deck does nothing but remove, remove, remove. Can we please remove some of the removal tools for this deck? There are so many full board clears, single minion removal. There are neverending options...
If anything, we should have other different win conditions for control available. We all miss those times you basically win against aggro if they blow their hand and you survive because they run out of steam and you start dropping big minions, or when you can bring some big taunts and win the game. But the only alternative we had besides boring the opponent to death for one long year was Denathrius, and look how well did that go. And keep in mind, I too hate blood DK. Its absurdly over the top in terms of scumbag cards, and it reeks of "we wont do good control with anything ever again because DK will take care of it".
I love that this deck's win condition is just not dying.
