- The fantastic keyboard artist Tommy Johnson throws some Stride Piano in as he plays his arrangement of St. Louis Blues. He was inspired to do this number after hearing a couple of his favorite artists: Jeff Barnhart and Stephanie Trick! Tommy would love for you to check these two fabulous artists out as well.
Stride is my favorite--St. Louis Blues is my favorite--Tommy is my favorite. All this adds up to the most FANTASTIC listening ever. Your playing of ANY song brings absolute joy to my heart and a tear to my eye. THANK YOU SO MUCH for allowing us to hear your remarkable talent. You are just as much fun to watch as to listen to--you really FEEL the music and it looks like you have so much fun doing so.
"This'll be a good one." Yes, brother. That's a good one. ❤️

Thank you for sharing your performances and your talent. It is the best Christmas present possible. Thanks to you and other youtube's artists, I have begun the piano and particularly the boogie-woogie.
Thank you very much and good holidays my dear virtual professor.

Отвал башки!Кто знает где скачать?
Heard a lot of Jeff live when I was living in Cumbria. I prefer a more down home rhythm for blues piano myself but this is very listenable. Never heard of Tommy before. Stride is onje style. Just think I'lll check him out on boogie.
DEAR TOMMY............YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY THE BEST.......
sincerely, sharon lee ray
Could not stop patting my foot. Had my wife listen to it, and she started dancing around. Great job man, loved it ...
Sweet. One of the greatest Blues tunes of all times! Beautiful playing.
Very Enjoyable! Thank You!
Could listen to this music all day and night - it is fantastic. Wish I could get it on a CD(s) so I could have it in my car too. Tommy, stay safe, stay healthy, so that you can keep bringing sure delight to so many. Thank you.
Playing like this will make us younger ... brilliant...
Just fantastic !!!!
I wish to ear him live once...!!!!
Is there any way to get sheet music for this particular arrangement of the St. Louis Blues?
Mathematically it is easier for me to understand Tommy's skills than Luca Sesak's.
Tommy has had a few years to hone his totally massive skills...I just can't imagine how anyone can play like Luca at such an early age...but then again I believe that a soul never loses these crafts and may come back in different manifestations to play to different audiences...I don't know how to explain the level of talent both these men have
Very talented. Must've spent years getting that good! Can't help but nod my head and move along to it. Lovely stuff!
Anybody know if Tommy is still around? His last upload is from seven years ago.
Sadly he passed away a year ago.
I've listened to a lot of boogie & this is the best -' Tommy you are a legend - I love the rhythm component
U R Awesome, i sang .. just a closed closed w/ thee
I love how you incorporate stride movement into your blues. My Dad taught me basic stride when he got me hooked on reading his sheet music collection (1900-1950s). Now, years later, I'm trying to learn the blues. You are my role model! Thank you for your recordings here on UA-cam where I can see how your fingers move. What a treat to see and hear you play. All the best to you.
Without words to talk about your talent.I would love to be your student! This is Mara from brazil! My best regards!
Looks Like Stephanie and Jeff are inspiring people all over the place.. Nice arrangement. Are you playing on a Clavinova?
Thank you for the kind words. I am playing an old Technics that works great. Tyros two keyboard.
Your music is fantastic - Thanks so much for sharing and I hope to get a CD or download some of your music. What do you think of the new Tyros 5? I am considering it. Keep up the great work.
@Lahawk Naw! Just too lazy to get it outta my truck.
Hello TJ, You make that keyboard sing. I hope you are having some awesome holidays!!
LA Classe total
Loved it!!! We have definitely got to get together!!! Professionally of course. You are best piano/ keyboard player I have ever heard since Joann Castle/ Jerry Lee Lewis. I really mean that. Thank you so much for truly entertaining me and making me very jealous!! Lol
Hey Tommy, Don't worry about Nick's stupid comment. Jealousy, lack of talent and just plain ignorance make stupid people like him mean spirited. You are an unbelievably talented musician and your music brings much joy to so many. Best wishes fro Bob & Linda in Ontario canada
Well played! Best arrangement i`ve still heard. Is it possible to get this great arrangement somehow?
cannot stop listening this
How many hours of practice does it take to master a piano the way he does?
He started playing when he was 4. He played at least 4 hours a day. Mostly about 6 to 8 hours a day
I can barely walk and chew gum at the same time wow!
Listened to my Mother play this when I was a kid. One of my favorites...Great job...Thanks for sharing it.
How can a person be BLUE when this fellow makes it so pleasant to the ear? True American, I think? call Clyde, if wrongs.. 214 884 7138

WONDERFUL! thank you!
💯
A great performance Tommy
Hey Tommy! Been a while since you posted a video! Always a pleasure!
bravissimo
You should buy your self a new piano. This piano does not sound good at all, but you do sound good. You deserve a better piano.
Hey man i love this song so much. I love this music and im just wondering who taught you piano
Amazing! You can here the entire trio. Some of his licks in the top octaves sound like back up vocals as well within the arrangement which was beautiful. Love how he plays the upright bass part in the left hand and holds down the rhythm section & the melody with the right. Thats tough to do! That last series of licks right before the final walk down at the end is incredible! Especially that lick he played over the diminished chord in that sequence. Respect!
It’s called the stride piano style: LH metrical alternations of bass & chords beneath RH melody & solo lines.
Sorry to say Tommy passed earlier this year
@@davidmurray1276 A loss for sure.
The Best!
Фантастическая неувядаемая классика!!!!
I always liked the GLENN MILLER version of this song. You just knocked it out of the arena! AWESOME JOB! Just played this video twice now!

Great arrangement.
