I did one year of my master's degree in Trento (also Dutch). It took me a while to make friends as well. Adapting for me was a bit tough, not too good at languages, and the theoretical way of teaching (a lot of oral exams, etc.) wasn't my favorite either. Also, the eating habits and timing are totally different from what I am used to. But once I got a few Italian friends it was much more enjoyable for me, hopefully it will be the same for you. I remember that at the beginning of every semester, people were coming to the uni who were doing an Erasmus, so there might still be opportunities to get to know people. Hardest part is getting the ball rolling and getting in touch with a few of them
Uhm if there’s a community of internationals join it, go to events even if you don’t feel like it.. maybe if you play a sport or have a hobby that you can join a club for do that and get out of your comfort zone:) but also Australia wow
