Man, didn't even check the replacement coil before going to the job. That is some serious faith in your supply house. Keep the great knowledge transfer coming .
Once the indoor temp gets closer to satisfying the stat, the TXV will throttle way back and the sub cooling will come up. Anytime you mount the bulb on a vertical section of pipe, the superheat will run on the low side, thats why manufacturers recommend installing on horizontal section whenever possible.
I don’t hold the contactor that long. Once I hear the compressor rattle I shut it down. I just release whatever little pressure it does have in lines. I adjust charge after I’m done.
Phone Co. Employees dealt with Roaches inside Landline Phones. Took Phone outside and Kicked it to the Truck. Every time they Kicked it, Roaches came out. 👎
One of the reasons I got out of the trade was bugs. I got tired of the roaches bedbugs, rats, etc. I was always worried I’d end up infesting my own home. Not worth it imo. I miss the job but I don’t have to worry about bugs anymore lol.
Mobile homes are usually easy. The old Intertherms had the coil sitting on top of the down flow assembly. It would take you longer to haul your tools inside and braze it up.
Why they don't the washable filters that com with the unit that comes in those beats me. I still have the old that was in my mobile home and put a throw away filter in front of it and use the original one to hold it in. Clean it and check the one in front every month. The throwaway filter lasts about 6 months even with a cat and dog in the house.
Not the greatest of working conditions inside but sometimes you have to deal with those It does make want to strip down to the skin and water hose yourself before going home 😅
Hey Curtis, love the videos and been watching for a long time but as an amateur plumber can you maybe talk about in one of your videos why HVAC people braze vs. solder? It doesn't seem like you get the capillary action with brazing that you get with soldering. Is it just because of the pressures involved?
the braze rod will flow into the socket if you heat it good and work it down into the bottom. just like with solder, it flows where the heat goes. some flow much easier, like 15% silver and it's easier to get a good joint. technique technique technique!
Yes, it does as long as the reversing valve is in AC mode. Everything will pump down into the condenser. The cool thing about heat pumps is that you can also pump the condenser down into the evap coil to work on the condenser if you put it in heat mode.
Can anyone recommend a good brand of Blower motor? I recently swapped mine out with a Daton from Grainger. I had a bit of a scare where I thought the bearings were going out already (it has more side to side play than I like), but it turned out to be some screws that loosened up a bit about a year after replacing the motor. My 80+ year old mother lives with me and I don't think she would to well without AC out here in Texas, so I would like to buy a back up motor, just in case.
There has to be a cost to consider I would guess. The fittings inventory, the original cost of the tool. How does this compare to the acetylene torch costs including silver solder plus nitrogen. What does nitrogen do besides flowing when brazing. I understand some commercial entities have hot-work issues and the crimp gets around that so having both is an advantage and an expense.
We're going to have to do this with ours soon because the fins are disintegrating so badly and they are so plugged up with kitty litter dust, hair and probably even grease because my mom stopped using the correct filters on the coils.
That house didn’t look that bad those son of a guns can come in because of rain or heat i’ve seen houses with really bad infestations then again those trailer attract them like the man said roach motel can’t help it!
Curtis seems so chill all the time. I have a sneaking suspicion that he was a wild guy in his younger years.

Thank you for the tip! 😊
the way that whip is off that disconnect looks so familiar. I know you've been there before
Just goes to show the coil doesn't have to leak to need replacing. Nice job!
Thanks
Great job Curtis love the lock on disconnect thanks for the video
Nice work Curtis
Thanks 👍

Same here, scrolls don't take too well to pump downs.
I believe that’s good practice… I pump down to just under 10 psi in hopes to not pull in any O2 from unknown leaks.
Exactly how it should be done! Never let a scroll get anywhere close to going into a vacuum.
Great job,Curtis!
Thanks!
Great job Curtis 👍✌️
Thanks
You used the secondary drain connection? I guess it works, just gonna keep a higher water level in the pan.
Good neat job Curtis, well carried out 👍 Au
Thanks 👍
See you rode ol waterboy Bobby bouche lawn more to work today curtis lol..... love the content. Keep em coming.
Will do
Is it just me? Whenever I see smoke coming from a braze joint in the video I have to blow on it .... 🤣
good job Guys
Phone Co. Employees dealt with Roaches inside Landline Phones. Took Phone outside and Kicked it to the Truck. Every time they Kicked it, Roaches came out. 👎
Yeah, those irritating smoke detectors... just disconnect 'em.
Might as well, they’re definitely overrated.. 😅

Less then 20° above ambient not bad
That looks like the easiest coil replacement I've ever seen....

Some people will just never learn.
Please cover liquid and suction tubing coming up from crawl space with electrical tape or something lest dirt falls down in the tubing
i had to shower after watching this
Hi Curtis. Was wondering. Haven’t seen You using the rls fittings again. Any call back for leaks on it? Just wondering
No callbacks as of now. I still use it. But, it’s not propress. That’s for plumbing
Braising lines inside a mobile home is a scary concept....they burn too easily.
Welcome to the roach motel. Enjoy your stay
I really wish I had your temperament 🙂

Nice job Curt How about your bulldogs pre season pick for number 1
We will see
Nice expensive mower sitting there. Dixie Choppers will mow well at around 20+ MPH as the blades spin at around 10K RPM.

Looks like the bottom front of the coil is open pulling air up and around the coil.
it is only about 400 cfm;s
@@MariosACandRefrigeration shouldn’t be any cfm bypassing the coil.

No leaks, just didn’t use it today

Does pumping all the refrigerant into the condenser work the same for a heat pump outdoor coil?
Yes

If there are roaches in the air handler unit, I can only imagine how infested their kitchen is! YUCK!!!
Good job Curtis! No ProPress this time? She needs to buy bug bombs too.

you might have resticked ducting..
Probably should take the sticks out of the ducting as it will restrict the airflow.
You think the person could have moved their mower out of the way? What you guys deal with is really hard to believe. Common sense ain't so common.
Talking about your customer's house at the beginning got you a thumbs down.
