I remember going from motorsport 6, to 7 (in particular the R34 skyline) and just thinking to myself; “wtf have they done to this cars engine sound?!”
Ikr! even in this new Forza Motorsport 8 they did not fix the car sounds of 2 JDM legends A80 Supra and Skyline R34 along with other brands such as Lambo, Porsche, Audi etc. They sound heavily compressed and synthesized. Whereas games like Assetto Corsa(Though I know it supports mod), Grid Autosport, Grid 2, Need for Speed UG2, Carbon, Crew Motorfest were all able to replicate or I should say recorded and utilized it properly into the game. I played Fh5 and left the game because all the cars sounded like vaccum cleaners. If Turn10 listens then its only possible to get the sound updates.
@@kronosbalmond6472 The R34 in the new Forza actually sounds the most accurate for a stock Twin Turbo RB26. Go and search how different GTRs sound like when twin turboed vs single turbo

Yea. For some reason all the original colour's are waaaaay off.
That’s legit electric blue not even close.

Back when forza wasn’t overran by the preps and jocks of car culture.
and it had my favorite OST. They gotta remake that game. I also liked fm4's sense of speed effect when going fast
The Visual Jump from 4 to 5 is bigger than from 5 all over to 8 💀
Maybe they still using same engine?
agree, even between motorsport 1 and motorsport 2 you can see big changes.
Basically the same since 6 tbh
And what, do you think you can do a better job?
Guess what, it happened to all games past 2020. Previous to current gen jump we had hasn't been so significant at all.
Anyone else hate having the buy cars in one long list instead of being split into regions or manufacture
I love how the R34 bayside blue isn't even remotely the same shade of blue anymore and it doesn't even sound close to an RB26 in FM8 LMAO
I mean at that point what can you do? You just have to create your own and make it even better.
@@evanreyes2216 I just wish there were materials to do so, because metal flake has too much of those flakes and 2 tone gloss is really inconsistent

It's really cool to see forza 8's incredible new damage model that's worse than Forza 1.
🤣
Isn't that more the fault of the manufacturers? Don't the car companies not allow them to make a proper damage model because "it'll make our products look bad" or something?
@@foooosh I've heard from a handful of game devs that's not actually the case. It seems to largely be a surmised rumor because it makes an amount of logical sense. But I've never seen any validity of it, and it would be weird for manufacturers to suddenly decide that 2013 was the last year damage could be applied to the cars.
@@foooosh not a problem when the devs touted a completely reworked and sofisticated car dmg model with reworked physics to the damage engine.
@@JZStudiosonline THIS. I agree with your comment. Driver San Francisco had lots of car model damages and they used licensed cars.
There's something that just looks 'right' about FM4 - maybe it's the reflections/lighting, but it looks so good even when compared to the technically superior graphics of FM5-8.
Turn 10 did an an amazing job of optimising FM4 for Xbox 360, and for me, it is still the high water mark in the series.
thank you for choosing specifically recycled FM1 models, hopefully some people will notice them
I don't care, in fact I think it's good that they're not wasting time remaking models and focus on new content instead :)
@@Mr.Goldbar that's sad to hear, I'd rather them spend the resources they use to do nothing on replacing old car models
@@audi-71830 nah, if it ain't broke don't fix it, new content is more important by a country mile
@@Mr.Goldbar they are broken though, new content comes in so slowly that it makes me doubt they're using full power on it, so they can use the unused power on fixing the game so that once that's done they can make all content consistent
@@audi-71830 they're totally fine, you're not supposed to notice when driving
I can't help but notice how FM5's GT-R R34 finally got accurate tail lights lighting...
...only for FM6 and subsequent games to destroy them while even NFS fixed theirs in Unbound or Heat.
7:50 damn does it looks bad compare to the previous games
What is that megatron sounding ass skyline doing
The cars in FM 23 look like plastic models. The paint rendering went down so much.
What's funny is that for 4 months straight, they were boasting about that before they showed any actual gameplay.
Someone correct me if i'm wrong, but that might be because some of these cars are recycled from older Motorsport games.
@@Otherface They are recycled, but that is not the reason for poor looking paint since they change the materials for all cars. Unfortunately for the devs, it resulted in many of these models looking worse in FM8 than in the games they were originally featured in.
The colors are the problem. The game is the most detailed in the franchise, but for some reason thet muted the colors. I don't know if it's to give the game a "serious" tone compared to Horizon's colorful one, but it's a dumb idea anyways
Is it me or forza Motorsport 6 was the least plastic looking Motorsport game from the last 3 titles, 5 I’d say is almost as good with looks.
I love the gear shift sounds in FM2
Same, shame it went away, unique to that one title.
Me too. Engine sounds in FM2 to 5 are amazing.
Audio and visuals peaked in FM6. After that it got dark, flat and depressing in FM7 with the worse sounds, and in FM8, the brightness came back but it got even flatter especially the Saleen S7 11:26 with no proper shading (ambient occlusion or reflection) somehow looking worse than the first Forza Motorsport. So much for raytracing and being "built from the ground up". At least the audio improved from 7 but it's no where close to being as good or as accurate as 6.
Even the audio is very hit and miss, a lot of cars sound worse than 7, especially when upgraded.
@@jjay350 it makes me wonder what kind of magic did the audio guy Polyphony took from Turn10 did. Perhaps he worked solo.
@@Qimchiy Seems like they got the best talent these days, as GT7 manages to really impress me on how good the audio is.
@@jjay350 It's definitely an improvement. Not the best yet, it has that noise gate effect when accelerating, all the cars sound airy, it lacks bass and while extremely consistent, needs more impact, exaggerate a little bit but not to the point of distortion like FM7. For example the Sabre C9 or the CLK LM in GT7 vs Project CARS 3. Both are accurate but one is more full with impact.
Honestly at this point as long as games improve from the predecessor it's good. It's hard to do but Motorfest is the best example of it.
@@Qimchiy you're the first person I've seen absolutely nail the descriptions. When talking soud, I'd argue that the GT series was at its lowest with GT5-6. Each car sounded like a harsh vacuum overlaid with a tinny, crackling synth. Zero bass, lacking that atmospheric timbre, like, devoid of fullness. They made good progress with Sport and further with 7, but still, so many lingering problems that make them all sound painfully synthetic.
This does a good job of showcasing my disappoint in the latest Forza Motorsport.

FM6 was the best.
@@jjay350I second this!
10:07 while not perfect, that shifting animation had more budget than motorsport 8's one 😭😭
Bro shut up 😂
Graphics could've stagnated with 5 and I wouldn't have minded.
They sort of did.
5 went PBR. There's literally nowhere left to go after that. Gains from raytracing just make the little details better, they've perfected faking the light to the point where raytracing is minimal. All they can do is up geometry and texture detail.
@@JZStudiosonline It's amazing how we hit a point with graphics already where they're struggling to improve.
@@JZStudiosonline and some shadow work too, sometimes it be a little too choppy. But I think the ray tracing was just a waste of time. The game itself (fm8) looks really great without it. Could’ve spent that time getting the game to work better amongst other things
@@worldwar1424 The problem is that it looks better without it. It could've looked AMAZING with Ray Tracing, but at least from what I've seen both on the internet, and on my PC, Ray Tracing is a legit downgrade in visuals, looking pretty choppy and jaggered. The worst part is that the performance is still struck by it, so you're gettin a worse looking game for worse visuals. It's just not it at all.
They can't implement Ray Tracing and DLSS for the life of them. PGG did a way better job in Horizon 5, but it's still not thaaat amazing, when you look into the little details and technicality of the things... FidelityFX CAS works way better than DLSS in Horizon 5, in terms of performance. But it looks obviously worse than DLSS, so you need to choose between really slightly better FPS and better visuals (DLSS), or way better FPS and worse visuals (FX CAS), when DLSS should be the best of both worlds in the first place...
FM4 and FM6 are my favourite forza motorsport. Both have a decent car list, very good soundtrack. Overall good games.
100% agree
when they said Forza Motorsport was "built from the ground up", they got confused because of the same name and were actually talking about the one from 2005 not the new one
And the 2005 forza motorpsort seems to put up a little fight against fm8☠️
I don’t see any differences, the models look exactly the same
think thats a bit much, even just by taillights being further detailed through the games kinda shows
Get your eyes checked ASAP 😭
Cuz it’s recycled

7:51 was that suposed to be champion blue or bayside blue for the r34?
looks completely wrong also the Saleen looks like its made out of plastic
seriously how did they managed to fuck up every single part of the game?
4 had better material rendering than 8 LOL. What makes the car paint in 8 look so bad is that it doesn’t seem to be reflecting the sun at all which gives that plastic look to it and overall you cant really differentiate the materials because everything is reflecting in the same manner, may it be car paint, metal, plastic, glass.
Yeah I was blown away by how awful it looks.
I’m not sure if it’s a bug but there was a reflection problem where something that you’ve passed previously just keeps showing up in the car’s reflection despite no objects even near your car ( usually on the roof the glitch happens)
FM3 and FM6 sound the best to me
I've been playing FM6 daily since release of the new FM, still my fav... if they could give FM6 a 4K boost it would be right up there with the other titles. Interesting how many people prefer the FM7 graphics to the new FM, then if you search FM6 vs FM7 graphics comparison, most give FM6 the thumbs up lol 😅

The visual upgrade from 5 to 8 is totally not worth it considering how ridiculously demanding FM8 is to run.
FM3 brings me my childhood memories man...
Forza 4 is so glorious.
5 looked nice with its bright colour palette. Don't like that they just kept darkening the games afterwards
I know nobody wants to admit it, but from an audio and visuals standpoint, Forza peaked at 5 and 6. Give me 4 all day for content, but 5 and 6 have their charm. Smaller car list didn’t bug me one bit when each car got more attention. The newer FMs looks and sound so dull/flat. What happened…?
Yeah FM6 is the sweet spot for me, best blend of everything and it's aged the best.

Hey dude don’t know if you’re still using this channel but I REALLY miss those speed art videos you did on NFS 2015 do you think you’ll ever do them again?
Same here bro
After seeing this Videos, i am sure it is not just nostalgia for 3 and 4, but the Menu overall in 3 and 4 is so timeless and great. The Cars in the menu in FM4 look the most modern. In comparision with all shown games. It is sleek and realistic. But not too artsy. I loved the Main Menu screen in 3, when your Car is parking there outside with modifications and custom stuff. Not much, but enough withing this hyper clean menu. And what the heck is wrong with 7? Hell, the SOunddesign in this Game is horrible. Everything is awful soundwise. The menus got worse after 4. Hell.
While it can't compete with any actual Sim, Fm4 still holds up great and the Career Mode really is fun to play. The engineswapping and general tunig really makes a difference. If you come by it and have a running 360 or you do know what you do when emulating, you should give it a go if you like driving.
Braking distance is an important thing, it’s good that you paid attention to it.
There are sim games where everything is realistic, there are sim games where simplifications are allowed for the sake of casuals, but the basic laws of physics are indisputable.
In FM7, it seems the basic laws of physics were violated, the braking distance was too short.
What makes this game not even a simcade, but a purebred arcade.
Car textures on motorsport 8 are a shame
Its disgusting, how did they expect us to enjoy flat moving bricks that sound like wet mechanical farts
@@theonurminen7064 To top it off the game is always-online and has a grindy parts leveling system. Lame!
Honestly
FM2 was insanely ahead of its time
I loved fm2, the fact exhaust sounds changed with upgrades was so cool.
Seems like visual differences from FORZA MOTORSPORT 4 and 5 to 8 are absolute insane! FM8 is basically FM7.5. 😂
Maybe i'm trippin but one of the first wild things I noticed was going from FM5 -> 6 on the Bernese Alps. They ditched the 3D trees for flat 2D ones.
I hope we actually see a graphics improvement throughout the series this time around. Fm2 to fm4 graphics leap was HUGE. fm5 to fm7 was more or less the same visually. Fm8 doesn't look that much better than fm7, unlike fm4 to fm5.
Have played all of them. Have owned nearly all of them (5 being the one exception). Really enjoyed the series at 2, 3, 4. Went for a bit of a decline after 6 IMO. But I for one, like where the new one is at. It feels spectacular, and looks almost real. Forza was always nice to have with PGR 2, 3, 4. Between the 2 at the time, it was hard to want anything more from a racer. Long live PGR.
HUD elements on forza motorsport 5 are so nice and clean, nowadays graphic (also ui and ux) designers at turn 10 had no clue of what they were doing...
When it comes to sound design it FM6 had the best tbh.

6:48 That GT-R sounds gorgeous in FM6🤩
Forza Motorsport 4 brings back so much nostalgia.
Is there something wrong with FM23's Saleen S7 paint at night? Under the light there was no shine at all. Looks like a bad Assetto Corsa mod.
Cool to see we have the same Eclipse model from the first game 😅
Nah Microsoft and Turn 10 should be ashamed of themselves. How is FM1-FM4 better is every aspect compared to FM5-FM8? How do you take 2 step forward, then take 10 steps back? This is another reason why anyone that says people riding on nostalgia does not know what they are talking about
Better comment and this is true the new fm is crap FM4 still the king also im a big fan of racing games the 360 era is still The greatest
4 has better crash model than 5-8 together 😊
Every forza title that came out on the 360 had better crashing models.
Still bummed that FM6 never got a proper PC release, only the much slimmer Apex version. Obviously not as good as 4 in terms of content/tracks, but probably the high watermark in most other aspects.
16:48 "Throwing flashbang!"
I love the menus in 6
Прикольно. Спасибо)
Watching this video, I understood why the Forza engine on the x360 sounds more impressive, but in FM5,6,7 it was disgusting, like the sound of an electric drill.
Bass plays a big role. In old FM the growl was bassy, in 5,6,7 there is no bass to be similar to the calculator sound of slot machines like in Gran Turismo.
Yamauchi loves this sound, but most people in the world prefer bass sound, or at least have an in-game sound setting.
And against this background, I am glad that the bass basis has returned to the sounds of the FM8 engine.
Yes, the content of the sound may change and this means a lot, but the bass basis is important.
I remember how delightful the sound was in FM2 or NFS U2 after the flat sound in Gran Turismo 4.5.
Realistic physics, the sound of the engine, and the feeling of speed, this is what makes driving and racing fun.
And in the Japanese vision of car simulators, racing is more like a board game.
I believe that Project Cars 1 has achieved great success in sound experience. But it had crappy physics.
At the same time, Asseto Corsa has sim physics but the sound is just as imperfect as in Gran Turismo.
Now, if we could combine this and that...
Does anyone know if fm6 multiplayer servers are still open?
How is the damage model in FM1 better than FM8? 😂
Sorry to disappoint you all but the skyline sound in FM8 is the one that the stock car has in real life

You can see the generation leap in fm3 and fm5. Fm8 despite the fact that it can look absolutely amazing in certain circumstances, in fact looks worse than the previous games by all criteria. 6 years in development with a motto “build from ground up”. Its a disgusting work.
Man…I don’t think I can play new FM. Due to audio
Where are the backflips???
4-5 was the biggest jump. 5-6 looked the EXACT same but 7 has really cool atmosphere with its lighting. The new motorsport has incredible lighting and is a nice improvement. Hope to see forza keep improving in the future!
The biggest issue with the new forza motorsport is the fact that resolution gets to low in RT performance mode. Its good that they made big improvements to the game but certainly is pushing the limits for the Xbox Series Console so it's making them look soft but really real with its lighting and new textures and materials

The game crashes a lot.
You can't actually see ahead of you very clearly because of the blurry TAA.
Powershifting is still an issue.
And customising the look of your car IS part of the gameplay, so making sure the cars look right is pretty important.
FM8's reflections are... non-existent? I'm not sure how to describe them since they're so poorly done. FM8's production/road cars sound so much better than the rest, especially the GT-R. All the previous games sounded like the car had an aftermarket downpipe and turbocharger on it. FM8's sound is much more true to a stock RB26.
Lol what? Even the glass over the gauges shows real time reflections in cockpit view. Have you tried turning them on?
