LUIS FRANCO: To be honest, none of the M109s that we have worked on have had any transmission problems. I can say this bike is a beast with plenty of power. Definitely a great motorcycle when transitioning from sport bike to cruiser.
I try to be extra careful with these kinds of things, because I don't want to get something bad and something that's reeeally looked down upon by the community. That looks so cool I'm tempted to not care about what others think at all
I've had the same slip rings on since 2012. I have hit speeds up to 176mph and have not had any corrosion or visible wear. I have replaced my brush blocks when the new G5 brushes came out, but not due to any damage. This system functions very much like a power drill does with carbon brushes to conduct electricity through spinning components. Heat from friction has never been an issue. This kit requires attention to detail upon installation. I have posted these videos in hopes that they may assist others in producing a professional install.
Good work but not Sure that it can have a long life anyway. The best option is to transfer energy by electromagnetic field not by fixed electrical contacts as from whether or from water also it can have a problems
Aram Khachatryan: Your idea of transferring energy by electromagnetic field is good, but has limitations. Yes you can transfer electricity, but only a single color LED could be used. Since multi color LEDs generally operate with one positive and three grounds, four contacts are necessary to be able to change the lighting color. A remote module is also necessary to operate color functions. LED Wheel glow riders get an average of 12k-15k miles out of their brush blocks till replacement of Springs and Brushes a needed. This is only a $16 expense. To my knowledge, we haven’t had any issues from weather or rain.
I have a 2007 M109R... HOW MUCH DO YOU CHARGE FOR THE WHEEL LED.. I ALREADY HAVE THE LED DID IN THE BIKE, BUT NOT THE TIRES.. OR WILL THEY HAVE TO BE REPLACE WITH NEW LED. AND YOU DID A GREAT JOB.. I'M GOING YO SHARE YOUR VIDEO WITH EVERYBODY I KNOW THAT RIDES A MOTORCYCLE
2 questions: one, how long does the brushes making contact with the rings last, wear down before needing replacement brushes? Two, I didn’t see it being test driven but is it recommended more for while the bike is parked at an event/gathering or can it be driven just as much?
Tonio Vant The brushes are made of carbon and are spring loaded inside the brush block. I have gotten over 15k miles before needing to replace the brushes. It also depends on how the rider rides. Sport bike riders usually wear out there brushes quicker due to higher speeds. The brushes are only $16 for a full front and rear replacement. Here is a link to this bike on a ride. ua-cam.com/video/1wb8BQ_LTeE/v-deo.html

My shop is located in Houston TX. I have had many people ship me their bikes as well as ship me their wheels for installs. The Touring bikes do not necessarily need the rear wheel illuminated. cager cager the RGB multicolored lights are powered by one power and three grounds. Your existing remote module should work. Single color LED lights are universal since they are powered by one power and one ground.
I'm going to have to pay you visit and have you do this to mine.. By the way, where did you place the kill switch? Isn't there a way to mount them where when you hit Off on the remote, the power goes off to them, or when you turn the key off.. Or is the power ring in the rotors not hooked up to the lights to work via the remote or key and are always on constant power? No way to bypass that? Ive never don't this before on a bike, so excuse the questions, but I'm trying to learn.. I did the ones in my car front to back (interior) nothing on the outside. But I kind of cheated skipping all the hard electrical stuff (because I don't know what I'm doing to be honest) So I used these 3m strips lights like you are using, but they had a USB end. So I plugged the USB end from a USB hub into the back of my radio where I have a USB out port which powers the hub when the key is on, then I plugged all the USB light ends into the hub (that I mounted up under the dash out of sight) I did have to use a couple female to male USB extensions (for the back) but all the cords fit neatly out of the way in the trim all the way from the back to the front and up under the dash and into the USB hub. It was so inexpensive, and you don't see any wires or anything, so it turned out nice, for not knowing much and getting creative. I did it this way so that when the key was off, the power is off to everything as well. Then I just hung the remote to the lights on a lanyard in the car and called it a day. I hop in, pick a color, an effect, and it just goes. It will go to the beat of the music if I want, but I never use that effect. I'll leave you links to show you what I used.. I bought 2 LED light packs (one for front and rear and the other for my trunk, it's an SUV) 2 packs of USB extension packs and 1 hub. www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07T8DVCFK/ref=ox_sc_saved_image_1?smid=AMB3MS41BXNUH&psc=1 www.amazon.com/USB-3-0-Hub-Splitter-Individual/dp/B07FCKTG8L/ref=mp_s_a_1_19?dchild=1&keywords=usb+hub&qid=1595139088&sr=8-19 www.amazon.com/Extension-Besgoods-4-Pack-Colored-Braided/dp/B07FZYD7H6/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=Canjoy+3+Pack+6ft+USB+3.0+Extension&qid=1595139407&sr=8-5 That was my quick easy fix for interior lighting.. $80-90 bucks, took about 15 minutes.. But hey, it works, you know.. Anyhow, great video, and seriously, going to pay you a visit.. Thanks for always giving us such great content! Gives us all an in depth look at your craft.
A Culp The remote control does allow you to turn on/off the lights as well as change functions but power is still being used by the module that communicates with the remote. The kill switch is connected between the 10 amp fuse holder and the remote module. The kill switch disconnects power from the battery to the module so that the module doesn’t drain the battery. I generally mount the kill switch on the back left side of the bikes so it is accessible without letting go of the throttle.Thank you for the kind words and as always we are here to answer any questions you may have. 🙂
Randy Menendez I’m almost done rebuilding my website with an online store where you will be able to purchase the kits. Email me Marcel@rushbikes.com and I will assist you with your LED wheel glow kit.
Charles Jarman Yes, I do remember removing the gilled brake rotor cover to allow a flat surface for the ring to mount to. Shorter bolts will allow proper mounting bog your rotor after removal of the gilled rotor plate.
i had a kit from xk glow put on my gsxr ...the kit lasted a couple of weeks it was installed with double sided tape to the fairing and the heat made it all fall apart , I've had it not working on my bike for 2 years..stinks on ice i need a better kit installed correctly
Cheesefunnel: I’ve seen some shotty LED installs over the years, especially at the motorcycle rallies where riders are getting installs done at a booth in 2-3 hours. It can be difficult to find a good installer but I always recommend finding someone that you have seen their work and one who takes the time to do a quality install. These light kits take about 10-12 hours to install but the outcome is amazing. What part of the USA do you live in? Perhaps I can point you in the right direction
Paul Marion: my new website will be live in a few more weeks where you can order online. Until then, email me your year make and model motorcycle to marcel@rushbikes.com and I will assist you with ordering a kit or parts
Any day now I'm going to Man Up Marcel and do the install on my 2015 VMax. You have 2 videos posted regarding the LED Install the other being a 2012 Yamaha Stryker. In that video you didn't drill through the brake disc. What do you recommend for the VMax? Cheers
Charles Jarman The Yamaha Stryker as well as many cast aluminum factory wheels have hole openings in their wheels near the hub already; eliminating the step or drilling a pilot hole for an LED wire to run through. It’s bee so long since I’ve done a VMax, I can’t remember if a hole is necessary, but I’m more than happy to assist you when it comes time to do your installation
Albert VS lol 😂 I’m 5’6”. I understand the importance of being comfortable on the motorcycle your riding. The M109 is a low seated bike and you have options of handlebar pullbacks that will allow less stress on your arms for a more comfortable ride.
Quality parts are never cheap, not to mention the labor involved. We have our LEDs made with higher Lumens and also provide a lifetime warranty on our lights.
Soooo, I can I send you my set of wheels minus the tires if need be and have you do the install and ship them back to me? I can handle the rest of the wiring on the bike.
Rick Malone I’m currently building a new site with an online store for everyone to be able to purchase products. New website should be up in the next few weeks. If you need to place an order, email me at marcel@rushbikes.com
Alberto Santiago No, the LEDs that are used have a water proof silicon coating. These kits come with a kill switch that disconnects the power from remote module. If you do find yourself in a rainy situation, and low voltage power does run constantly, we suggest disconnecting the power by clicking the kill switch.
@@user-ns8nv9em8w let's say they are on and I run into rain or I go over some water will the unit short? Not because of the LED strips but because the exposed metal rings that I'm guessing have power going through them, this is my main concern.
broderp: The brush block mounting brackets are made of two “L” brackets that are held in place between the front wheel spacer & fork for the front. The rear bracket is placed between the rear wheel spacer and the swing arm. These two “L” brackets allow you to adjust the position of your brush block from up/down & In/out. I will be posting another video specifically on the removal & installation of the brush block brackets. Thank you for you pointing this out and stay tuned by subscribing

cager cager the RGB multicolored lights are powered by one power and three grounds. Your existing remote module should work. Single color LED lights are universal since they are powered by one power and one ground.
@@user-ns8nv9em8w damn okay thanks though i gotta find that kit lol
I really appreciate your review. Could you please guid me from where i can found this led kit
Thanks
I'm going to have to pay you visit and have you do this to mine..
By the way, where did you place the kill switch?
Isn't there a way to mount them where when you hit Off on the remote, the power goes off to them, or when you turn the key off..
Or is the power ring in the rotors not hooked up to the lights to work via the remote or key and are always on constant power?
No way to bypass that?
Ive never don't this before on a bike, so excuse the questions, but I'm trying to learn..
I did the ones in my car front to back (interior) nothing on the outside.
But I kind of cheated skipping all the hard electrical stuff (because I don't know what I'm doing to be honest)
So I used these 3m strips lights like you are using, but they had a USB end.
So I plugged the USB end from a USB hub into the back of my radio where I have a USB out port which powers the hub when the key is on, then I plugged all the USB light ends into the hub (that I mounted up under the dash out of sight)
I did have to use a couple female to male USB extensions (for the back) but all the cords fit neatly out of the way in the trim all the way from the back to the front and up under the dash and into the USB hub.

That was my quick easy fix for interior lighting..
@@user-ns8nv9em8w Awesome!

@@user-ns8nv9em8w how do you get a wheel glow kit
Just looking through our emails I think it's covered. Removal of the gilled plate and replace bolts for shorter ones.
Charles Jarman Yes, I do remember removing the gilled brake rotor cover to allow a flat surface for the ring to mount to. Shorter bolts will allow proper mounting bog your rotor after removal of the gilled rotor plate.
Rushbikes.com or Rawdesigncycles.com price 500$+ depending what kit you want. These guys are amazing. Thank you can’t wait to order someday.
Hi bro I'm from India I need these for my new pulsar so how much cost it is?

Where can I purchase the led kit?
i had a kit from xk glow put on my gsxr ...the kit lasted a couple of weeks it was installed with double sided tape to the fairing and the heat made it all fall apart , I've had it not working on my bike for 2 years..stinks on ice i need a better kit installed correctly
How can I get this kite for my motorcycle?
You can buy the wheel light kits at Rawdesigncycles.com
Where i could buy this slip ring and brush block?

How long does an install take for a 2020 R1? I'm over in San Antonio and would take that trip for my wheels to have these in RGB

What product or where can I get this product
Nice work!
Can you tell me, please, how tall are you? I'm 5'4 and I think I'm too short for this bike.
Thank you!
Albert VS lol 😂 I’m 5’6”. I understand the importance of being comfortable on the motorcycle your riding. The M109 is a low seated bike and you have options of handlebar pullbacks that will allow less stress on your arms for a more comfortable ride.
Looks sick as fuck but for $770ish fuck that is way to much just for some lights
Eric Perry I will help you find someone who can do this install in your area

Where do I get slip rings?
Hey my frien wat is the name of light kit please or from were you got them
Will you they get damaged if you ride in the rain for an hour or more?
Alberto Santiago No, the LEDs that are used have a water proof silicon coating. These kits come with a kill switch that disconnects the power from remote module. If you do find yourself in a rainy situation, and low voltage power does run constantly, we suggest disconnecting the power by clicking the kill switch.
@@user-ns8nv9em8w let's say they are on and I run into rain or I go over some water will the unit short? Not because of the LED strips but because the exposed metal rings that I'm guessing have power going through them, this is my main concern.
Where do you buy the kit at? Can't seem to find it

You glossed over how the bracket that holds the brushes and the secondary bracket got installed.
broderp: The brush block mounting brackets are made of two “L” brackets that are held in place between the front wheel spacer & fork for the front.
