    The next book is finally OUT!!!
    Really proud of how it turned out. It has completely new information, as I've learned quite a bit about training since the first one. It's focused on improving your hypertrophy-training process and breaking plateaus. It includes an almost SEVEN HOUR audiobook, which I decided to record myself rather than outsourcing.
    Feedback has been excellent so far. I don't do sponsored videos or have ads on the channel, so I really appreciate the support. I really is YOU who keeps the channel going!
    Can grab a copy below if it sounds like something you'd be interested in!

    On the topic of mind-muscle connection: as a one-year-in home gym guy, lacking any sort of machine or access to neutral grips, I've finally found consistent mind muscle connection for the lats and rear delts via L-sit/hollow-body, narrow & neutral pull-ups and bent-over, free weight face pulls. For the former I grab a ring with the side facing me, interlocking my fingers with thumb and pinkies grabbing the sides (essentially an \m/ from the side) so that the other fingers can fit inside, and it's the only variation I've tried that I can always feel the lats on, even at lower reps - maybe because it seems to be easier to pull diagonally. For the latter I was inspired by NH's video on threading ropes through plates for home gyms, and with the freedom of movement the rope allows me I get no shoulder discomfort and the most enjoyable movement I've found for rear delts.

    • @chimpinz7437
      @chimpinz7437 Рік тому +1

      I did recently buy some Swissies from Kensui to try real narrow grips, though, so very soon I'll see if this pull-up is just a substitute for standard neutral grip or has its own value.

    • @texasbeaver8188
      @texasbeaver8188 Рік тому +1

      Pretty creative idea with the ring pull-up. If I'm not mistaken I'm guessing u use one ring & interlock ur fingers. Reminds me of a pullover. And it also seems like u're mimicking a v-bar handle with the narrow grip which ppl usually feel lats better on. There's this pull-up that's pretty similar called the Gironda pull-up idk if u'd wanna check out right here. ua-cam.com/users/shortsA69z09Cu2oE
      Alex Leonidas also made a video about it.
      And those free weight face-pulls have definitely been a game changer for my rear delts, dropped bands. I do them with dumbbells, they're called W raises I believe. I'd suggest getting some chest support/do it on a bench since the low back might fatigue once u get heavier. Only problem is u can't go all the way down or u'll hit the ground, so no weighted stretch. Might have to elevate.

    Geoffrey, your development over the past year or so is tremendous, especially for someone who was already pretty built. As someone who emphasizes the importance of gaining strength in order stimulate hypertrophy, I'm curious about how much your lifts increased over this period. It could even be the topic of a whole vid.

  • @nmnate
    @nmnate Рік тому +3

    I'd love to see a series on how to develop the various non-muscle tissues in the body (such as tendons, ligaments). What activities or training modalities would benefit those dabbling in a larger array of physical activities? Benefits could be seen for injury prevention, pain reduction, etc.
    Another broad topic would be identifying weaknesses in how your body produces energy (more from a performance standpoint). How do you combine aerobic training with anaerobic training for a more rounded physical ability? Glycolysis, lactic versus alactic, etc.

    •  Рік тому

      Those tissues adapt as well as muscles, just slower. This is even worse when you're enhanced and then poof, a bicep tear

    Congratz on 100k, good to see naturals getting some love and growing bigger, your videos are always good, so you deserve it for sure. Bulking questions are interesting though, i'm on the last months of my bulk and progress can be pretty hard to track and sometimes it feels like i'm not progressing enough or adding enough mass as a intermediate. Have to experiment a lot now with all variables. I only really measure once a year so its harder to always know if i'm progressing if i just use mirror and strength.

    Re: #29 - 1) get your quads stronger outside of the squat - specifically leg extensions and split squats for me worked best. 2) Cue leg drive not hip drive and 3) start by kicking knees back forward if they go back until you’re out of the habit. 4) Pause or pin squats may help as well. This is something I have actually ‘fixed’ over time and it’s definitely doable but it’ll take time and your strength may not be increasing during this period much but in the long term more quads will help if strength is your goal.
    I have always been knees kick back out of the bottom and finish driving glutes forward (it’s not truly a GM). I had to consciously work at this and relearn the pattern over time. I squat low bar also so I’m not talking high bar vs low bar.

    The point about the mind muscle connection increasing as your muscles get bigger is quite key. Not only as the muscle itself gets bigger, but the surrounding muscles. You'll start to feel them rub together, contract against each other, and work as a team.

    • @rockyevans1584
      @rockyevans1584 Рік тому

      Key, sure. Its used to put emphasis on a target muscle tho, not to get all active muscles working together. That's a contradiction sir

    • @danielgilbert8338
      @danielgilbert8338 Рік тому

      @Rocky Evans muscles are never working in complete isolation. If you are trying to really feel your lats in a pull up, your traps, rhomboids and a bunch of other muscles are going to be involved. Does that mean you can't build a strong mind muscle connection with your lats in a pull up? Absolutely not.
      Even if you're doing a tricep pushdown, your tricep is flexing against your bicep. During the eccentric motion the bicep and brachialis are helping guide things. Does that mean you focus those muscles, no. Will having developed those muscles help you feel your triceps working better and thus help a better mind muscle connection with your triceps, absolutely

    • @rockyevans1584
      @rockyevans1584 Рік тому

      @@danielgilbert8338 I didn't say anything about isolation. We're talking about mm connection, where you try and activate and keep tension on the target muscle youre trying to grow with that movement. In your first comment you mentioned feeling all the muscles involved moving, that's not mm connection, it's the opposite. You described external cueing rather than internal, that's for strength work not hypertrophy. Your second comment just repeated what I said. Not sure why you're implying I said you can't use mm in a compound lift, I think you need to re read this exchange, you're either day drinking or misread this lol

    • @danielgilbert8338
      @danielgilbert8338 Рік тому

      @Rocky Evans if you're trying to build your lats, and you have bigger rhomboids, you will be able to feel the LATS rub against the rhomboids which will work as a cue for the lats and thus help establish a BETTER MIND MUSCLE CONNECTION.
      That is my point
      Bigger muscles in a muscle group help establish a mind muscle connection for each muscle in said group

    Hey there, I really appreciate the content! I have a question about grinding out reps near failure. With pushing exercises (presses, squats) I feel like I can still really push through when I'm about to fail. But with pulling exercises (rows, hamstring curls) I tend to feel like I get stuck halfway through a rep and need to use extra momentum to finish it. Is this a normal feature of these exercises or is this some sort of imbalance? Should I drop the weight a bit so I don't have to be as explosive?

Growing up I was always naturally lean and skinny I've been bulking for a long time and have gotten fluffy (and intended to keep pushing through as I know I need more muscle) so remaining in a bulk a long time make getting back to that leaness prior harder?

    • @nixen74
      @nixen74 Рік тому +2

      Some people need much more than one bulk/cut cycle to build enough muscle. Not saying you can’t go far on one bulk, but for me personally (growing up a skinny kid as well) it took around 5+ years until I had made significant gains to look decent when lean. YMMV, but I wouldn’t go above 20-22% bf

    • @nathansunassee3427

      @@nixen74 Thanks for the reply man. I intend on doing multiple bulks but my current bulk has been around 1.5-2y. I guess i've been avoiding cutting since mentally it will make me feel like i'm reverting. But I will trust the process since I intend to lift for the rest of my life so a little cut which would get rid of the this fluff (looking at pics online I think im 25% skinny fat ish) won't affect much long term. Much appreciated man

    • @RDS_Armwrestling
      @RDS_Armwrestling Рік тому +1

      Potentially, the body has a body fat "set point" that can raise or lower over time, depending on how long you spend at a certain body fat, but don't let that put you off bulking cos once you cut and stay lean a while then it's likely that you'll lower the set point.

  • @CaptainBrash
    @CaptainBrash Рік тому

    Yeah, self identifying problems and consistency is so important and not assuming it's the thing that other people say "is killing your gains"
    I had someone try to tell that it was nutrition that was getting in the way of them progressing their squat beyond like 90kg (so not an impressive number for a guy fairly big and tall.)
    I'm thinking, well I've seen you come in a couple of times a week for 30 minutes to work your mirror muscles. I'm pretty sure it's not nutrition.

    Okay ive heard you have arm size of 17 inches and this should be around 43 cm right ? Okay my arm is exactly 44 cm measured flexed at the point of bicep's peak, but when i see your videos your arm looks beefier. Is a possible reason be where my muscles are exactly attached genetically ? I mean you know how some ppl biceps and triceps start super close to the elbow and some ppl have obvious distance especially when they flex. Also i am most powerful on triceps movements for the lateral head but my arm looks bigger from the side as if im long head beast ,but when i look at my arms frontally they are not that wide which is strange since im doing huge stuff for the lateral head of the triceps and also for brachialis but my arms refuse to grow in width :( , meanwhile i have no problems developing biceps short head and triceps long head and they get bigger , but somehow my arms feels like they lack width.

    47:31 I've always been skinny fat or chubby. last year I cut to 143lbs and it was HELL absolute misery. I was tired, always hungry, couldn't sleep, and thinking about food nonstop. I'm currently 146lbs and I look way better and it's a breeze to be here. My training is still progressing, I'm not hungry or moody.
    I think there's a lot of factors at play which can change where the wall is. And maybe it can move farther than you think.
    This time around I'm much less focused on granular fat loss and am more focused on training.
    Also let this be a lesson on yoyo dieting because it's been a year and I'm basically back to the same spot. The difference this time is I have no aches or pains, I feel amazing, and I'm progressing all lifts.

      @@GVS Honestly the Imperial's aren't that much better either. There's quite a few but very long, retrospective Skyrim videos that actually discuss each faction. I personally don't take a side here and just enjoy both. Theybreally did Ulfric's character and voice dialogue so well though.
