I ended up buying the Joe Satriani JS2GD “Goldboy” guitar! This video is my first impressions/initial review of the JS2GD guitar and my overall thoughts and opinions of the guitar. I am considering doing a full sound demo for this guitar because of the unique pickup system, so let me know if you guys want to see that next!

That pickup switching was all over the place on 80’s guitars, I’ve seen a lot of old Kramers like that. Pretty rare to find on new guitars though!

also my old computer teachers custom strat had 6 switches for all 3 pickups which was kinda funny, cause he didnt know what all of them did even. anyways keep up the great work! youve been one of the biggest insperations in my guitar trip, second to kurt cobain and frank iero
You should definitely do a influence video like what guitarist got you into music. I personally did not have any influence when I got my drum set however once I discovered bands/guitarists like Metallica and slayer. Holy moly, got a guitar and still try my best. I do suck but they are great.

Congrats on the gold boy! This guitar has a strange combination of old and new specs. The Satch track pickups were introduced a few years ago, but the Fred in the bridge is there since over 30 years ago in the JS1! The 22 fret, HSS and switching system were inherited from the late 80s Ibanez S540R “radius”. This system is quite similar to “Switcheroo” by Tom Anderson.

Make an in depth video about tones. Especially if it has jazzy tones
All you have to do to maintain it is a wipe down with a clean terry cloth. I have the Js1cr and everything I’ve read is not to spray any cleaner or polish on it.
Let's revisit this guitar in a year to see how well maintained it'll be. 7 August 2024

@@oozzyknob It's called a natural harmonic, you gently tap the string above specific frets to "half-mute" it so it vibrates differently. Depending on which of the frets you do that at, you get different harmonic notes. Look into it if you wanna learn more.
