The only reason the Smokey The Bear cardboard cut out made an appearance is so we could spin this off into another movie. Smokey, tired of the drug riddled bear attacks decides to light the forest on fire in an effort to stop Cokey (Cocaine Bears nickname).
Watched the movie yesterday with my friends and someone in the theater kept laughing at the dumbest things that weren’t even funny but it made the movie so so much funnier
@@AdamSlander888 Welp, we just saw the move and we loved it! I mean, when we got tickets to something called 'Cocaine Bear', that is exactly what we expected. It was just a slasher movie with a coked-out bear as the slasher. It also has a 'Jurassic Park' quality to it. The t-rex and the bear had similar qualities; not really "bad guys", just apex predators that experienced a little too much interference from people 🤷🏾♂️
Going to see it tonight at a theater in Lexington, KY that has the ACTUAL cocaine bear, Paublo Escobear, set up in the lobby for this weekend's showings.
3:36 I can say this, I love Dan. Only person/influencer/entertainer/critic from the internet that I would be upset if something happen to. A National treasure. Protect at all cost.
Part of me really wants to see an edit of this video with “Bear” taken out. Dan: “If I had stood in line for the rollercoaster ride Cocane promises to be… looking back on it, I would say I had a good time with cocane… ultimately it is a recommendation for me on cocane”
I sort of wish they had told the true story of the cocaine bear - or Pablo Escabear, as he was nicknamed. A bear ODing alone in the woods is pretty anti-climactic, but the circumstances surrounding it getting the cocaine are wild.
Can't wait for the Dog Gone/Cocaine Bear shared Universe, like Alien Vs Predator! *I assume that someone finds the dog by the end, & Cocaine Bear can be revived, with a bionic arm.
I really enjoyed it. It was more heartfelt than I expected. It honestly needed about 15 more minutes of Bear and 15 minutes of other stuff cut out. When the Bear wasn't around it dragged in some parts. Overall, very enjoyable for 95 minutes.
Felt like it was a two hour movie. You're right, they chose so much dumb family drama over crazy bear antics. Why was it supposed to be funny that Alden Ehrenreich was mourning his dead wife?
I like what you said about this movie being entertaining because to me it was. So often it seems to me that movies these days attempt to be so focused on showing a concept a concept or delivering a message that they forget to be entertaining!
That theater goer sounds a lot like someone in my theater back when Dumb and Dumber was out. I never laughed so hard in my life, yet this one person, with apparently zero sense of humor, tried to make it her mission that no one else ever see that movie.
Dan pausing for (his own) laughter after his bearly bearable bear puns is the best part of this channel. Keep up the good work Dan. Love your channel and your reviews :)
Hey Dan, love the review and puns 😆 I rarely make requests, but the wife and I cannot stop talking about Tár! There is so much to discuss. I know that it was your favorite movie of last year so would you mind doing an in depth review of it? Not sure if I missed a video of yours for it. Always appreciate your insight 👍
I don't watch alot of movies, however when I am interested or just curious about movies I always go to see if Dan has a review up. My number one source of movie reviews
It is not based on a true story, & they never said it was, Dan. It’s “inspired by true events”, which means true events inspired the filmakers to make this fake thing. 💯
The movie was a fun ride, it is everything you want in a movie called Cocaine Bear. The 5 Red Band trailers before the movie was the most I have ever seen. Having Bert Kreischer starting off a trailer saying he was the original cocaine bear was hilarious and his trailer for The Machine looks fun.
I am irish and the only reason i watched it because it was filmed in ireland which is wstrange we haven'y had bears here for about 5000 years and those were brown bears not black.Of course since cgi was used it doesn't matter
You always upload at the right time! I just got out of my screen8ng for this film and am on the bus home. I personally thought that yhe movie was fun, but that the 3rd act and climax dropped the ball on the promise of its premise, and failed to exceed and culminate all the whackiness preceeding in the first 2 acts. The ambulance scene was the best scene. Was so excited to see one of my favourite short form comedy influences in the film. All in all, it was a fun time.
I didn't like this one. It should have been a straight forward comedy but Banks just doesn't have the sensibility. Comedies are tough, not everyone can pull it off.
Interesting how we see these and wonder where it's going to go on the specturm between "The Room" level cult classic or "Escape from New York" level in terms of how both concepts handle their sillier aspects, Room being unintentional and Escape managing to rangle some intrigue out of it's silliness.
I was a little disappointed with cocaine bear actually. I think I set my expectations too high but I believe that the movie took itself too seriously. I wanted them to lean into the absurdism and comedy aspects a little harder.
This movie surprised me. You have to expect what your in-store for. It's like Violent Night in that respect. It was very funny and so violent. It does deliver but the last 15 minutes get a little boring. Still funny.
Don't get me wrong, I _love_ the idea of a movie about a bear that tried some cocaine and wants more cocaine. I'd probably watch all 5 straight to video sequels. But I feel like this is really doing the source material a disservice. (Worth noting, I'm from Lexington, KY nickname: "Heart of the Bluegrass") The book this is based on, "The Bluegrass Conspiracy" is a pretty good crime thriller... based on a true story, and it's worth getting the big-screen treatment. (Also worth noting, Season 4 of the TV Series "Justified" was also loosely based on the same book, but did not feature any bears, intoxicated or otherwise)
I’m definitely going to watch this (although in Germany we have to wait until 13.04 !) But I measure all of these kinds of recent movies against Tucker & Dale Vs Evil (2010) and The Cabin In The Woods (2011) - these are my ‘gold standard’ for perfectly blending comedy and horror. Fingers crossed 🤞🤞
I don't want to watch a movie where, in real life, the bear died because of human greed. The ambulance driver looks familiar, but I can't find her name, or I don't know what to look for in the credits.
Here's to "Pablo Eskobear," who "bit the dust" and didn't kill ANYONE! All hail the next "Sharknado" franchise, which will get worse and worse over time. Next up: "Meth Bear," followed by "Ecstasy Bear," finally "LSD Bear." (I'll be in my bunk on "Serenity" out on the rim.
Well, I can lower my expectations now. This year has a lot of 'good' but 'not great' films for me (Puss-n-Boots doesn't count since it was out in 2022 but I did not see till this year). I was hoping this would be the first great movie for this year. Lowered expectations might have me enjoy it more at least.
I know a lot of people think the premise for this movie is hilarious, but honestly I just feel horrible for the real-life bear who died :( The movie seems kind of disrespectful to his memory
I'm REALLY curious what that theater goer who was so upset was expecting from a movie called Cocaine Bear.
I dunno something GOOD? Something funny or something
@@JoeChilltonit’s both good and funny
@@HAMID___ it's fucking boring and bland. They made a bear snorting cocaine seem meandering. This needed Sam Raimi or Taika Waititi.
Idk probably some clown if he thinks the whole theaters gives a shit about what his opinion is.
@@JoeChillton “good and funny” is subjective. If not for you then let it be that. Comedy isn’t universally the same to everyone.
Bear one tries Speed: "Too fast"
Bear two tries Smack: "Too slow"
Bear three tries Coke: "Just right!"
That's the original story.
You nailed it! Kind of like "Green Jelly - Three Little Pigs" ending with Rambo, LOL
it is the caffeine that makes it "just right".
I'll never look at Goldilocks and the Three Bears the same way. 🤣

Weird to make jokes when the violence in the film itself is pretty grizzly.

Main Character: Heisenbear!
The Bear: You're Goddamn Right!!!

I loved this movie! Knowing the real bear died framed it in my mind as a revenge horror where nature takes back some space from us.
In the end, it’s all about FAMILY and the unstoppable power that is a “Mama Bear” - Vin Diesel would be proud.
I smell a crossover (lmao I wish)
"Yes, it does, but only bearly."

OK, that line alone earned my like.
What I'm getting from this is that it's definitely not the classic that Violent Night is destined to become.
Props to Elizabeth Banks for pivoting from the disaster that was 2019's Charlie's Angels to this bonkers concept of a movie.
