In northern Rhineland-Palatinate is a very special Bedarfshaltestelle. It's called Kloster Marienthal and is used by around 8 people a week. The special thing about this station is, that it's located in the middle of the woods. The closest place is an 10 minute walk to a monastery. It's served by the RB90.
Thank you very much! There are so many likes on this comment even more than people visiting a week haha. We’ll add it to our list and hopefully finde some time in the summer to go a bit further than Leipzig and Erfurt. Thank you! 🙌
I love this 'Bedarfshaltestelle' series, nice to see those villages that aren't in the spotlights a lot, they all have a nice story. Greetings from the Netherlands!
Thank you so much 🥹 It’s so crazy to know that someone from the Netherlands now knows about this little place. Wyhra would be proud. Thank you for watching and we’re so happy that we got our mission across!
This series is amazing. For your no doubt already expanive Bedarfshaltestellen-list: Meckenheim-Kottenforst. Its on the S23 out of Bonn, its basically 3 buildings in a huge forest and with electrification and service on the line increasing to every 10min in peak times, it might become Germany's most served request stop.
Visiting Germanys most served request stop sounds like an even more niche adventure haha. We’ll add it to our list and hopefully we will be able to see it for ourselves one day 🙌
So this is going to be quite far away for you, but we have a few Bedarfshaltestellen on the train line from Murnau to Oberammergau in Bavaria. It's actually a very pretty route too, with some history behind it. It was the first electrified train line in Bavaria, powered by its very own power plant ("Kammerl" near Saulgrub), built in 1899, which is a museum now too. Unfortunately, the speed of the line hasn't really changed since then and it is therefore one of those rare cases where you could actually replace it with a bus and still be faster, but oh well.
Oh thank you so much for all the details! Hopefully one day our episodes will go to other parts of Germany. We’ll add it to our list. Thank you for commenting and hopefully you will stay with us till this episode 😂
If you find yourself in south germany there is a really small train station called Kirschbaumwasen between Karlsruhe and Freudenstadt. It is in the middle of the Black Forest and the scenery is amazing there.
Thank you so much for this tip! I think a friend of us already recommended this area to us. We’ll add it to our list and hopefully find your way through a few more different parts of Germany 🎉
I'm loving these videos. Great idea for a series. Both of you are great presenters and have the perfect approach to adventure. Look forward to many more videos.

I randomly came across your channel shortly after the previous video got released. I had watched a few videos on Tom's channel before, so that's probably why the algorithm thought I might like this cannel. And what can I say, I do really like it! It's completely niche, but very enjoyable! And you and Tom are really a great match!
That’s so nice! Thank you for watching Toms videos they are the reason so many of you are here and thank you for commenting! We love a little niche project and so far we’ve reached way more people and way more Bedarfshaltestellen than we expected haha.

Loving the videos, they are a lot of fun. I just came across a 'Bedarfshaltestelle' myself the other day called Dahlerbrück in NRW on the RB 52 line (Dortmund - Lüdenscheid). And before I forget, the locomotive is/was a 'Dampfspeicherlokomotive' de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dampfspeicherlokomotive Keep it up and looking forward to the next episode!
Thank you so much! Those are two very helpful recommendations! We’re so proud that you enjoyed the video too. We’ll add them to our list and hopefully get a bit further trough Germany in the future! 🙌
Looks like a Dampfspeicherlokomotive, a locomotive that gets filled with steam by an external source so it can go into areas where having an open fire could be dangerous. The Brikettfabrik could be such a place.
We thought about it too but I feel like it would miss the point of this format. Because we don’t want to rate the experience just show that fun and travelling can start right in front of your doorstep. But maybe we can do a ranking at the end of the year like a review. What do you think about that? 🙌
the funniest part about this to me is that not only do i also already know about this place, but i know when this was recorded because it only snowed this much around Leipzig like once this year so far lmaoo
Hahaha 😂 It was actually quite difficult to find a fitting map and I had to put it in manually and I have to admit my geography skills are not very developed. Thank you for taking a closer look but I think whoever wants to go there will hopefully find it 😂
There is at least one request stop in Scotland where you press a button on the platform in advance of the train arriving to make it stop. Doing it that way means the train doesn't need to slow down for the station if there's nobody waiting, which can reduce journey times and energy use.
Happy (belated) New Year. If you ever want to visit some Bedarfshaltestellen in Southern Germany, come and visit the Münstertalbahn near Freiburg which has three Bedarfshaltestellen, Oberkrozingen, Etzenbach and Hof (Münstertal), with Etzenbach being a great gateway to get into the very fringes of the Black Forest
Thank you so much for these recommendations. Especially Oberkrozingen sounds like something Tom would love to pronounce haha. We’ll add them to our list! Hopefully we’ll spend some time getting a bit further away from Leipzig.
Hopefully you’ll read this before you jump out of the plane over Neukirchen-Wyhra but the treasure is already gone 🥲 But who knows maybe one day we’ll come to Canada!
