- We recently had the opportunity to talk with Charlotte Wessels of Delain during their stop in Denver with Kamelot. She was nice enough to discuss a variety of topics ranging from their latest release "Interlude" on Napalm Records to how the band transformed from a musical project into a full-fledged touring band. She was also nice enough to talk to us about the guest vocalists Delain uses, like Marco Hietala from Nightwish and Fear Factory's Burton C. Bell. Additionally, we were able to ask Charlotte about the bands upcoming My Masquerade show on November 8th as this will be a unique experience for any fan of Delain. Finally, Charlotte was kind enough to let us in on the process for making the video for "We Are the Others" and she also gave us some insight on how she channeled her feelings that were aroused by the senseless assault and murder of Sophie Lancaster into the song. Interviewed at the Bluebird Theater in Denver, CO on Sept. 14, 2013.
I had the opportunity to meet Charlotte--she was very nice and gracious enough to sign my copy of Sonata Arctica's The Days of Grays album book--even though it wasn't her singing originally. Very nice person--it was hilarious because she walked out toward the exit, a few people said hi, and then suddenly there was this LINE to see her/take picture/get autograph. All of Delain was really cool, and I love "We Are the Others."

That was a cut above the average metal interview. Intelligent questions and full and thoughtful answers. Charlotte comes across as a genuinely positive person. I don't think I could be that sunny gig after gig, interview after interview. And I'm glad no-one asks me to discuss such subject matter in a foreign language!

I'm surprised no one has asked the obvious question, at least the first one that popped into my head, all bands I know have groupies that go backstage after the show. I wonder if that bothers her at all or if she just joins in or what...
You know that part about all bands have groupies is total BS.
Charlotte is SO hot!
