I love when Marie said that she didn’t “suffer” working her bridge jobs. I joined B-School last year and for a while I felt the pressure of starting my business already because otherwise all what I’ve learned through the program would go to waste. But you know what? I got a good-paying job where I use all the skills I learned through B-School. And now I can relax (financially) while working on my business idea !
This is amazing!! I love it 😊 Ive joined bschool this year and I'm going through it like a turtle 🐢 But every single time I make the time for it I'm loving it so so much.
*Marie, this is why I love you, you're like a big sister. So many people think when you do business you can't have a side job or side hustle. You don't have to fit into anyone's boxes. I also love transitioning into your new business story. It really does help your old audience. Fab as always👌😊❤*
Thank you so much, Mathy. Building your passion business and working in a job is smart financially and puts your skills to work. Sending you a BIG high five- Team Forleo
Thank you for this episode, Marie! It helped me a lot regarding my 2 different identities that I also tried to keep separated, but it ended up being the source of the uniqueness of my brand. Being an actress, I had quite a presence on the internet with my IMDB link and the films and projects I created on my own, as well as with the large production companies. When I started my French coaching business, I didn’t want my clients to know that I’m also an actress, thinking that they’ll feel that I may not be a good language coach if I’m an actress. Lack of focus. What happened is that people were googling me and fining my acting pages and projects and they were buying my French programs too. Then it dawned on me: to create my own method of learning French, using performing techniques, which nobody does. I put together a few techniques from acting, which work for languages, I added a few more techniques from other disciplines (including neuroscience) and BAM: I have my new method of learning French as a performing art. Thank you for confirming it, though. Even after having done this 8 years ago, I still had a bit of a doubt. Not anymore ; )
I just bumped into this episode "by mistake" and it's exactly what I needed to here! You guys gave me a bright perspective in how to approach differently my situation and the facts of having multiple jobs and a business to run. I appreciate you so much! Thank you for your big hearts!
I do the work also but 5 and 3 years olds here and it’s hard to balance - not impossible. For those with no kids, do the work, the time you have is gold.
I will quit my side job in june. I kept it for 9 years after deciding I'll start becoming a professional musician. Yes it took me 9 years + 2 years juggling with my side job, my musician jobs and going back to school, all at the same time. So no worry to all the people who fear that it's not enough. you are enough and amazing by doing what feels right for you. only you know what's best for yourself.
Simplify to Amplify!! I've been trying to decide this for myself lately as well... LOVED this talk. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!! Bless you all!! 💕
Thank you Marie and team! I'm currently working on something and juggling quite a few responsibilities at the moment on top of bringing this idea of mine to life. There are great opportunities regarding this idea but there are so many things that I need to balance out. My question had a lot to do with how to balance the responsibilities of work and my creative work. You hit the nail on the head! Thank you Marie and team for publishing this video, I wasn't sure how I was going to go about doing work and focusing on my creative work and I thank you again for the clarity this has given me.
I needed this episode. As a creative, I have one main business with 3 additional income streams. My jewelry brand is my main gig, but for years I’ve been wanting to do more than just make jewelry (which is all about personal affirmations - specifically for women with goals and foul mouth.) I’ve been simultaneously growing - and grappling with - how to grow my business teaching people how to use vision boards and visualization to make their dreams happen. I have a podcast on this and it’s doing much better than any of my others that I’ve launched and closed. So I know it’s resonating with my people. All this has happened while naturally connecting with other female entrepreneurs in the process, which has opened up new sources of revenue because I’m self taught and have created this all on my own. So on the side I coach on tech stuff with email automation inside another jeweler’s online programs, and I also doing branding and website for others high-level coaches. It’s been amazing to see how this has all unfolded over the last 6 years as it’s always been a dream of mine to work for myself. (I did it. I quit my 9to5 in 2014 and have never gone back.) BUT/AND now I’m ready to simplify to amplify! I want to make sure my transition feels good and I’m doing work that really lights me up AND makes me bank. I’m in the process of defining what that looks like, how much more I need to be charging, how to use my time more wisely, and what to eliminate because I think it’s a “should”. To help define all these, the concept that was an aha at the end of this video was that I don’t need to have multiple identities. I don’t need to separate my work and what I love. So the multiple IG accounts are not going to happen. I can keep things mean and lean. And as for the other side hustles, I’m wanting to just serve one badass client for like a quarter at time (is what I’m thinking but too afraid to do it). I’m just really in love with having my single identity and leading with that on my own brand while incorporating what lights me up. If I lose followers, that’s okay. Thanks Marie!
Thanks for the amazingness again! I love the idea of creativity within the cracks of life. I'll do my best to learn this. Each episode shows that we all are different but also have so much in common. And it is so beautiful to find a small big solution for myself each time.
Right on time for me! Worked my way through school. Graduated a 1 year 1/2 ago and I was getting frustrated that I’m not working in my field. But I have a good full time job, I just need to carve out more time to work on my business idea
I'm working full time as a marketing manager while my husband and I run a digital marketing agency. My boss asked me to drop my agency completely because he said that it's important to focus. Which I agree! I work in the morning on our agency and from afternoon to late in the evening, I'm super focused on my role as a marketing manager. I told him that I can't drop off from my agency completely, and the compromise that we agreed on is that I can't represent my agency publicly both online and offline. I agreed because I love my job and the same time it is currently our family's source of income. However, my challenge right now, is promoting my agency on my social media accounts. It's part of who I am and it feels very limiting not to talk about it. Is there a way to still build my personal brand (maybe not directly my agency) without compromising the promise I have made? I really think that building your personal brand should always be done even if you're working full time, especially if you're a marketer. I would appreciate any tips! Thanks!
Now ... I've come to realize that I'm the "Burn the bridge" type of person, full of ideas, thrive under pressure and very impulsive .. getting stuck in one place for a long time drains me emotionally to the point where it kills my creativity. I have a goal, I know what I want to do but the wait kills me all the time. I seriously don't know how to deal with myself.
You are absolutely correct any job that we do for me it’s a matter of faith do it with high standards as you were to clean a toilet, or if you were working for the CEO of a fortune 500 company. How you do anything is how you do everything and like you said enjoy the journey this is getting me to where I need to be it’s still income
So this is how you share your story. It's seems simple, but thinking how I'm going to share my story is like...no, not happening. 🤣 How can something so simple feel so hard to do?
Write and share from your heart little by little. The more you do it the more natural it starts to feel. And sometimes simply writing without anyone seeing it helps to get the word faucet running. - Team Forleo
Petra, you made us laugh. His name is Zach Bliss and he's the genius behind our beautiful sets and is an awesome person as well. And you're right, it's not Greg. HA! - Team Forleo
[sigh] I need to make an income yet, I don't have the energy to do a job along with my artistic passion because artistic passion is so mentally demanding and exhausting!!!

@@marieforleo thank you Marie.😊Oh quick question. How can I feature my question on the live calls?
I love Marie's perspectives. You can still be committed without going "all-in" on one thing! I so agree. It can be a gradual build.
Thank you for this episode, Marie!

I am in the Forleo camp - I tried that leap and failed miserably - I embrace the lessons learned and truly grateful that it didn't destroy me.

Wow the first lady is SO inspiring of how she's handling it! Just as Marie said it in the video.
I feel like this episode was directly for me, thank you Marie! 💛

Omg. Yes. I need to hear this!
Thank you!
Thankx so much Gr8 advice 👌
Marie you are amazing! Who's the hunk?
She introduced him at the beginning of this video, but he doesn't say much. Seems this is mostly Marie...
So this is how you share your story. It's seems simple, but thinking how I'm going to share my story is like...no, not happening. 🤣 How can something so simple feel so hard to do?

And here I am, telling myself; There’s something different with Gregory... Is it his hair? The glasses? 😂😂😂
