Amen.
My mom is 50% Italian, and she's the same exact way with my dad.
"Billy Budd's the ships florist" I almost barfed up a lung laughing..
Carmela always had an inferiority complex, because deep down she knows that even though her and Tony have a nice house, expensive cars, designer clothes, jewelry, neither of them has education or culture, and it always made her feel bad when she was with people who knew more than her.
You don’t learn anything but garbage at a liberal arts college culture my fuckin ass
The girl who plays Alex is Angela Darmody in Boardwalk Empire!
you read my mind...... and saved my brain 10 minutes of annoyance thx
oooh shit . Good eye
Holy crap I didn't catch that. Lot diff younger and long hair and diff color hair. Man I hated her on BE. I was more into Jimmy and I'm straight lmao.
Well done!! shreDs girl at the bing hence why tony and her were a bit weird
Shes going to be in the irishman as well
Props to Fin for making conversation with the awkward sibling
He was a good guy that one
There’s so many things happening here. God, the writing on this show was wild.
Meadow asks a bottle of wine and Tony brought a box of probably stolen Evian which was preferred by Valentina when they meet. Damn, Tony is really something.
The daughter's face when he says " you're not"
He never had the makings of a varsity ship florist
I like how Meadow’s liberal friends laugh at Tony’s jokes instead of getting offended by them and how it’s actually Carmela that can’t get along with anyone in this scene
I think this was right after Furio left so she was in a bad mood
1:45 Tony looking at meadow like “sorry I called your new friend gay”
no it’s probably more so that he’s bothered that she’s living with another straight man who’s not her boyfriend
Pretty impressive when Tony seems more cultured than Carmella!😂
I wouldn't call that cultured.
You probably think society is cultured now...
@@KingKuba1313think the fella meant that his comprehension of media is ahead of Carmella. Like how you miss the fact that this scene isn’t trying to say carm is right, and that her ranting is in fact very uncomfortable
"no offense"
"im not gay"
"you're not?"
LMAOOOO
Ooooooh
Oh man, the performance of Meadow's friend who denied he is gay is amazing: that serious look he gave Tony, and hand gesture to emphasize his point. Tony's reply to his denial is even better, LOL. So fun to watch this part!
was he gay Gary Cooper?
Dawg meadows face after tony thought her friend was gay LMFAO
I forgot this scene. My gosh so much to unpack...what a fantastic well written scene.
Love how in the midst of it all Tony doesn’t let AJ off the hook.
"I thought you read it." So fast and so funny.
2:35
Tony's disappointed "I thought you read it" though 😂
'REALLY?' 'Thought you read it' lol
I'd watch the Sopranos spin-off where it's just Tony hanging out with college kids.
And now Carmela shows us just how insufferable she can be
Meadow actually is wrong though. Which I think really sums up the dynamic here really well. She gets all emotional and defensive but Meadow is actually spouting bullshit as if its fact because one professor she heard speak said so.
@@themistoklestheodosopoulos6253 meadow is extremely annoying
You realize Tony has the same views right?
@@themistoklestheodosopoulos6253 Lol, a real intellectual here. You're also getting emotional and defensive, because you don't know what you're talking about, same as Carmela.
@@imcallingjapan2178 lol that sounds like you bud.
Boy, this scene sure was prophetic
i love how tony is just watching all this
"you're not?" HA HA HA
God this is fucking funny. The way Tony says “no offense” and then “you’re not? to the guy who isn’t gay, and the way Meadow looks at him. And then when the girl talks about the passage in Billy Budd and AJ says “really?”, Tony just shifts straight to his usual anger at AJ: “Thought you read it!” Then as Carmela makes a scene and everyone is embarrassed , Tony looking like he couldn’t give less of a shit. Great writing and acting.
At the end Tony was like “whatever happened to Gary Cooper”
aj's expressions are the best in this scene lol
Yeah, especially at the end 🤣

-Carmela’s dialogue provides such a good look into the 21st century conservative psyche (eg fear of cultural decline via sexuality, gender, etc)
-the actor who plays Alex is terrific in boardwalk empire
Billy Budd is a come from behind kinda guy.
Love the scene later on where AJ's reading "Death in Venice," another homoerotic book. Nice little touch. Probably before the writers decided on the Mr. Wexler/Carmela affair plot line. Pretty advanced for high school!
tony never stops makin jokes except when he's pissed off. either he's joking around, talking intensely, or throwing a total fit. if he ain't laughing, look out.
Tony with all his gangsterness had a great way with people.
Social skills were brilliant and funny too.
Carmela: a finook in a book, which kids are supposed to read? Back in your father's day we wouldn't be having this conversation - parents knew how to handle this.
Tone: Enough rush to judgement here - the book's reputation is at stake. Plush it's 2006 - there's pillow-biters in special forces.
Haha I love that everyone here picks up on the sidelong glance at 1:45 -- Gandolfini could do so much with a look.
"If you've got some kind of sexual proclivity with that teacher or whatever, now's the time to tell us! I mean what went on up there!? Poppers and weird sex!"
Billie Bud must've been taking the same medicine Vito was on.
This part isn't about Carmella's education or lack of it. She is indirectly defending Furio in ths scene, that is why she gets so tetchy.
Dam tony seems happy here for once
02:49 totally authentic laughter
This is one of my fave scenes in the series. Works on SO many levels! :-D
Lord, Carmella was in a MOOD
I just realized she’s acting like Livia
Even Tony's like "yeah I ain't touching this shit"
Edie Falco is not only hot, but an incredibly brilliant actress. The scene with her, Rosie Aprille and Meadow when they are talking about Vito being gay. The way she pauses, and then rolls her eyes as she says the words “possibly gay,” is a priceless expression of someone who personally has a ‘holier than thou’ attitude towards everyone else, yet enjoys to ‘burn the source’ with everybody else!
I like how Carmella is every stereotypical Mom who downplays the existence of anything homosexual in media.
Poor Carmella. She dreamt of going to college. And the only Alma Mater she got was Tony's money.
Surfmus
She's the girl from high school that dated idiots then got mad at the world when she realized the error in her ways way too late. She's way too dumb for college and never deserved a true family life with happiness. She's a user
I was cringing the entire scene, this was very well done
Carmela trying to act smart to prove a point by saying she saw the movie.
