    Well done mate. You made a lot of Hard decisions but they needed to be made. Another year or so and it will be twice the tree it was. Great job. Also well done on the videoing. 😀😀

      Gday there Dave, thank you and a merry Christmas to you. Do you have any banksia as bonsai or planted? One of my favourite species too. So versatile and different.
      Cheers, Lawrie.

    I like your tree! Great scale and movement. You had to make some tough decisions, but they were necessary, for sure. Awesome work, brother. Looking forward to see how it responds. Hopefully we can see it in flower at some point. I read they are beautiful, but I’ve never seen one.

      Thanks mate, really appreciate that. it has responded extremely well, with lots of new growth. No issues there at all. I would love for it to flower, i think it will eventually. Banksia is a beautiful plant to see in the wild. So many different types from huge trees to ground covers, all with insane flowers. Thanks for the comment Mr Bald Yet 😎

    Good reset of the design. As you said early in the vid banksias set multiple branches from one node. Let it grow out and cut it back hard, it will give you many options for the future of the tree. The previous owner didn't make those decisions but I am sure you will. Great job!

      Hey Darrel, thanks for that! I’ll keep your tip in mind, some Aussie natives push out insane growth very quickly. It’ll have a lot to choose from and work with, looking forward to how it’ll turn out

    Can you make a video on how to make a banksia bonsái from a seedling or tube stock?

    • @planterbanter
      @planterbanter  21 день тому +1

      @@liquidbrickle That’s a great idea. I’m in canada right now so it would be difficult but will hopefully do more bonsai once we can purchase a property :)

    Woah so good And so much to learn. Thanks heaps for that. Just a question do you ever propagate the branches you cut off?

    • @planterbanter
      @planterbanter  3 роки тому

      Hey Steph, i find banksia hard to proposer from cuttings, although it is possible. I don’t take cuttings off this tree much, but you can buy tube stock for 2.50 at a native nursery. Other trees of mine (such as a Chinese elm), I most definitely take cuttings from

      Yep, will be careful for sure. I have some eucalyptus bonsai and sometimes I have to take off the wire within two weeks. Aussie natives can grow incredibly quick
