    I feel I've learned more in your 1/4 hour slices of pointed instruction, than time I've spent elsewhere in much greater quantities. It's like I've watched dozens of instructional presentations on a topic and you seem to clarify all of it in a much more direct & simple manner. You're very good at painting a picture that sticks with me.

    It's crazy how simple it sounds to my ears now that I get this. For two years I poured over everything I could find on UA-cam, tried everything, saw videos like this, tried it, but it never really clicked. Whenever I tried rotating more it always felt like I did something wrong. I think it was just a misconception about how the swing should feel. I mean, the swing doesn't *look* "rotational", so why should it *feel* rotational? And if you've never allowed yourself to feel rotational, then it will feel even more so when you try it. Whenever I felt myself focusing on rotating the hips it always felt wrong. Now I realize that if you accept that feeling, which will feel weird at first, it will look pretty normal, and you will have much more rotation and a better swing. One thing I've done is to flare my feet excessively, or at least it feels excessive. That helps with allowing your hips to focus on rotation more than anything else. It still looks pretty normal.

  • @irvinlee1800
    @irvinlee1800 2 роки тому

    such an important and undervalued concept in golf. hand depth and hand path coupled with rotation is so key to better ballstriking. I was so bothered by that weak, glancing, cutting across ball feeling and couldn't figure it out. I got lost in that whole "keep the club in front of you" movement. once I figured out everything you mentioned in this video (before watching this), I've had blissful 5 yard draws for like two months now and still holding up! take note everyone!

    Great and easy to understand! Do you have experience with lefthanded golfers that play right handed, like me? I was „educated“ to do everything right-handed, also playing golf. I tried to re-teach into left handed golf, but that is a crux… I have an extreme out-to inside swingpath, -10 or more, it causes me to lose a lot of lenght.

    If you have a lack of hip mobility especially in the senior Golfer. Would you benefit in having a slightly closed stance position. Allowing less pressure on the lead leg on the takeaway. Love your Videos Jonathan

    Jonathan I have been confused for 40 years of golf and have been un able to correct a giant fade and slice. For this reason I have never been able to put together a descent score or have any consistency. My pattern on most holes is one or two great shots with a few horrible shots mixed in. I just love the game so I continue on without the satisfaction of real improvement. I have always thought my problem was mostly in my backswing backswing however with lessons I only became more and more confused as no one has explained it as well and as thoroughly as you have in this video. I almost never subscribe to UA-cam channels however I hit the like button and subscribed as I am looking forward to more of your fantastic information.
    Where are you located as I am getting ready for lessons and entirely new set of clubs as mine are now 15 years old.

    Hi Jonathan great videos as always very informative and simple to understand my question is about how when turning and getting the club to look like its going through the bottom of the lower part of the arm from down the line view how or when do you lift as if I get that position I keep turning and my hands seem to stay too low.thanks from the uk

    I like all the explanations in the video, I would love to see one that just shows the correct motion and how to do all the correct movements. There is a lot of technical explanation of where things can go wrong, and incorrect motions. I think this is good background but it makes it harder to find the parts where you are showing the correct movements.

    Thanks for the video, I was just wonder about the weight shifting. I saw a lot of videos how they say that you should shift your weight to the right on your upswing and to the left on the down swing. Where you also explained it how to shift your weight to the left on your weight shift video. But on upswing if I try to have my hip to the left wouldn’t my weight be on the left side instead of the right side ?

    • @JKMGolf
      @JKMGolf  Рік тому

      Usually if a player is use to shifting weight to the trail side then having the weight more evenly distributed will FEEL like there is more on the lead side

  • @johnklein309
    @johnklein309 Рік тому

    I took each concept and analyzed my own swing in slow motion to verify I’m doing the correct or close to correct movements. While I could turn more cause I’m not super flexible, I’m essentially doing everything right. But my club is still slightly over the top of the plane, and my divots out to in. 😢 onto part 3 I guess.

    Hi Joanthan! Big fan. Question - I'm having success with an in to out path but my shots tend to start left and then draw further left (pull) - is there any tips you have on getting the club face more open at impact?

      The way you move other parts of your body may be limiting your range of motion. You may also be using too much of your arms than you think. I will have to see your swing to give you the exact reason

    Jonathan, what should I feel in the backswing as an indication that the shaft is running along my bicep versus the neck. Hard to see it from the swingers point of view.

    • @JKMGolf
      @JKMGolf  Рік тому +1

      you need to record yourself to see it for sure but just have in your mind that everything must move around you in an arc because you are standing on one side of the ball and rotating

  • @MPerski
    @MPerski 2 роки тому

    My hands (and my arms) tend to get away from my body. I get pretty good depth. But I notice your arms are closer to your body when the club gets to the 9 o’clock position.
    My question: Should I keep my left arm CLOSE to my body?
    (ie “connected”)?
    It feels kind of cramped and I think I keep my arms away in an attempt to NOT bring the club inside too early.
    I know it’s tough to visualize without actually SEEING my swing, but …
    I wonder if you could tell me where my left arm needs to be in the backswing ☝🏻
    Should I keep my left arm as close to my body as I can?
    … or should I give it more space?
    FYI … my torso is a bit bigger than yours 😉 and I played a lot of baseball in my life, swinging with a lot of extension in my swing.
    Thanks 🙏🏻 and keep up the good work.

    • @JKMGolf
      @JKMGolf  2 роки тому

      Your left arm should be across your chest. If it feels cramped you probably need to rotate your chest more.

    Hitting a ball is never with a backswing , the backswing needs to put the club In a good position for THE SWING how does not seems to be important

    • @JKMGolf
      @JKMGolf  2 роки тому

      Just like you said, the backswing helps to set you up for the downswing. What you do in your backswing has a big influences on how effectively you can deliver the club into the ball.
