      Hello, great bread recipe I make it every second day. I need to know where you got your bread pan from, because yours is higher in the middle and if you make Italian bread chances are that they won't touch in the middle. Amazon doesn't sell one like yours. they're all too short in the middle. By the way, your recipe makes good pizza dough just mix 1 1/2 TBSP of Italian spices with the flour, it adds a good flavour to the dough.

    I have baked thousands and thousands of things over the years, but am always interested in how other people do things. You never know when you might learn a thing or two. I have to say that this is one of the best how-to baking videos on YT. No wasted time, no wasted steps. Very well presented.

    Great video! And when the bread becomes dry or hard the next day, just give it a quick rinse under the tap and bake it in the oven for about 10 or 15 minutes. The crust will be crisp and the inside nice and soft again 👍🏻

    Thank you for sharing the recipe and method! I've just finished taking the breads from the oven, and we couldn't resist eating it after letting it cool for 10 minutes! Warm bread with butter melting into it - what can be more delicious.
    I've baked these breads specifically for a side-dish at our braai (barbeque the South African version), where I mix butter, garlic flakes, cheddar cheese, feta cheese and dried parsley - we call these types of breads "french loafs" and the side dish "garlic loaf". I then section the bread by almost slicing it through, and smear the mixture on the slices. Then I wrap it in tinfoil and put it on the braai grid over a low heat!
    A note - I dusted the counter top with flour, and then did the rolling - my bread didn't unravel.

      But once you go scale, you'll never go back! I've been baking for 40+ years & only recently started using a scale & it's a total game changer!! No more packing brown sugar, just weigh it, flour is 100% accurate when weighed, but jars of yeast & weigh if you need more or less than a packet. I very highly recommend weighing for more accuracy & consistency with recipes.

    Excellent recipe. I now follow the recipe but after the first rise I divide the batch into 12 small mini French loaves. This enables me to bake them and now I have 12 loaves that are perfect for my spouse and I. This way we just pop 1 out of the freezer and let it thaw for 1 hour and put it in the oven for 10 minutes on 225o or microwave it for 30 seconds. Just like the loaves at east side Mario’s or Olive Garden…

    Just bought my first KitchenAid stand mixer, and first thing I did was turn heavy whipping cream into butter and buttermilk. Gonna use the buttermilk for pancakes, but the butter, I turned into garlic butter, which is why I'm now here, learning how to make french bread, so I can make some toasted garlic bread!
    I've gotta say, so far, this is proving WAY cheaper than buying premade pankake mix, and premade garlic bread loaves, plus, the home made butter? OMG, so smooth and velvety! I'll never buy store-bought butter again if I don't have to! I'm really looking forward to how this French bread recipe turns out! Dough is currently in the proofing stage.
    Thank you for the clear and concise video! I've learned much!

    Love this recipe! My first French Bread in my Cuisinart Precision Master and it was awesome! So delicious! I used Bread Flour and did the egg wash too. However, I ended up only using about 4 to 4.5 cups of flour and took it out of the oven at 35 mins. Wish I would have taken out at 28-30 to have it a tad softer on the outside. It was still soft inside but a bit too crispy on he outside. One BIG question I have is; how can I add olive oil to this recipe and what would the alterations be to the water, salt and yeast if I did? I ask because, I made a different French bread recipe tonight that had sugar and olive oil in it, but it lacked the flavor yours has. Its still good, but not as good as yours. I opted out of the egg wash and sprayed water on the dough a few times while baking to get the outside a tad crispy, which worked great. The texture inside is nice and smooth with a light crumble like texture, which I love. So now I want to make your recipe but somehow get the olive oil in the dough to get that inside crumble soft texture. Any thoughts on how to alter the ingredients? Thanks again for all you do! LOVE YOUR VIDEOS! And hope you make a baguette video soon!❤️

    Great video; clear, concise and to the point. Also, you know you're a true cook when you cook barefooted 🤣 @3:21

    Now this I want to make. I’d put minced garlic and butter spread on it and broil until golden brown. Then serve with pasta!

    Can I leave the dough over night in the fridge and bake the next day?

      Yes. Grease the bowl, and roll the dough around. Cover. Bring to room temp before playing
      with it.

    I'm wondering how long it needs to be mixed for with the dough hook? Is it until it comes off easily from the bowl? If anyone has tips on time please let me know. I am totally new to stand mixers

    In the middle of the recipe and just wanted to add a note for anyone having problems. I was careful and started with the 4.5 cups of flour. I added the full 5 cups and it was no where near coming away from the mixing bowl. I had to add somewhere between a half and full cup of additional flour to get it to just barely come together (used all purpose flour if it matters). It's still pretty sticky and hard to handle but I didn't want to over flour the dough. Results were pretty good! I haven't made other french bread recipes to compare but I'll just say we're easily going to finish both loaves.

      This happened to me as well. What I found is to let mix a little longer before adding more. It will really help you to decide how much more to add

      @@TheSpenny888 How long do you suggest? I do have a stand mixer so it's much easier at least

    • @TheSpenny888
      @TheSpenny888 3 роки тому +1

      @@bellagab3 it's really hard to gauge as it depends on the speed. Assuming you keep on the 2nd lowest speed, a good 10 minutes should do it. I was about 5 cups as well

    • @bellagab3
      @bellagab3 3 роки тому +1

      @@TheSpenny888 I like going at the 2nd lowest since it feels like it's easier on the mixer lol

      @@bellagab3 same. If its higher speeds, it will always pull the dough off the bowl even if its too sticky. 2nd speed is best! ....also, I made the 3rd time now and make it a little sticky to see how soft it was. If you can quickly handle the stickiness, it does come out a bit softer, but not as fluffy.
