~~RULES~~
● Players take turns by placing a paddle anywhere on the game board.
● All paddles must touch at least one other paddle.
● Once a paddle has been placed that doesn't touch the board, no additional pieces may touch the board. After this point, if any other piece is made to touch the board, the player whoose turn it is has lost the game.
● Once all 32 pieces have been used, a player will continue their turn by removing any lower piece and placing it somewhere higher on the stack.

It’s been a while, welcome back!
It's been a while. Welcome back.
I Hope you're doing well.

Lots of good stuff.
kenshiro84 yeah, he’s been putting out regular content on his second channel. I thought he’d completely abandoned this one it had been so long.
I love this! Very interesting to see your process.
Steve Ramsey - Woodworking for Mere Mortals I love when I see my favorite UA-camrs commenting on each others videos. You two have the best game making videos I’ve stumbled upon. I should really make a few of them. Yours are slightly more approachable than Pocket. His require much tighter tolerances than something like Shut the Box.
I highly appreciate you turning down the volume of any power tools in post
This game feels like a more elegant (and in a way more fun) "Mount your Friends". Really like the look of that base, too. Almost looks like leather and the dark texture of the panel works nicely with shiny metal.
The biscuit tin as the box and the base is quite neat
Never thought an 8 peice puzzle would be that much fun...
I really love the line "If a step takes you even a little bit closer, it was a success."
Really awesome to see you making videos again. I’m also excited to see your next project. It looks fun.
Thank you for this lovely relaxing video especially during these troubling times. Its always a treat to watch you work on an interesting project with the relaxing commentary articulating and expounding on concepts. I'm glad to have been a subscriber for all these years.
It's good to see you doing well, keep safe!
UA-cam algorithm leads me to your channel about 1 years ago.
And yesterday, youtube algorithm recommends your channel again.
Now, I know that it was foresight of this video and blessing for your channel!
I wasn't expecting to get practice in GIMP today.
Same here!
it is so hard to overcome a bad habit as nail-biting. Congratulations, so good to see you back. Respect
That's called "impulse control." A similar impulse control disorder is the inability of a person to refrain from making comments about the appearances of others. No respect.
pocket83 I do apologize my comment was taken wrong.
Excellent, mr. pocket! I love this stuff. Also, thanks for the puzzle!
I've never seen a table saw used in that fashion, you've opened my mine to a new reality. Thx!
I'm talking about the inside curved cut----brilliant!
You can really make some cool stuff that way. There's a video about some jigs over on my second channel.
Thank you so much for the content! It's nice to have you back. I hope you're well. Stay safe and keep on making.
fantastic video as always, super cool project
And I appreciate yout continued projects !
Keep it up ! You're a great source of inspiration for me :D This stacking game looks really cool !
Great video! I always love seeing what you come up with!
you are amazing, love that you make the step to upload to the first channel, this video is a grate one.
Great, two pocket videos in a day! :)
Hope you're doing well in this weird time we live in
Nice game! Glad to see you back on the main channel too.
Long waited video from Pocket's main channel!
So happy to see main channel content! Hope you and your family is well!
Im so glad you're back
Huh, another pocket83² video... wait...
...what? What!?! Really? Whoa, that's nuts!
I love it. My first thought was maybe I could also make a similar game with metal pieces and a magnet. Since magnetism only goes so far. Maybe even a version where the magnet is in the air and you have to build up and out.
An upload on the main channel? how exciting!
This global quarantine business is probably a great time for someone who likes to make puzzles and games.
Nice Mancrafts sander. Enjoyed the video as always.
welcome back! I wish I had the tools to make these, they look so fun.
You can make anything with the most basic tools. You just need determination and time. This is why prison inmates are so good at crafting stuff.
That was a nice subtle message there at the end. Stay safe pocket. I'm off to catch my pocket double dip now.
Yes! That seemed like a quiet social message hidden amongst the geometry references :-)
Not sure how I found you, but I love your words of encouragement.
Made this. My kids are having a ball with these!
That's great to hear. Thanks!
Neat. Perhaps make one (or more) special thick pieces. Starting game play with that might open up more interesting stacks.
Cool to see you back
Pretty smart as always!
welcome back, nice setting ur vids again
Bold of you to assume that I'd assume about flat things.
Not things - just edges.
You appreciate our continued interest?
We appreciate your continued interesting content.
Very neat 👌
Super glad to see a new video always exciting and great content keep up the amazing work
I really love your wuality content .. keep it up pocket 👏
Great use of an old sewing kit tin.
that circular cut looks like magic, you sure you aren't a wizard?
Fun idea!
Your “I appreciate your continued interest” comment struck me as odd. No Pocket, we appreciate YOUR continued interest. I’ve been watching your second channel for a while because it seemed like you might have been giving up on this one (in some of your vlogs over there you kind of eluded to your lack of desire to keep this channel going or possibly feeling like the content going up over there wasn’t good enough for a main channel video), but it’s so great to see another video on this channel. As a fan, it’s been disheartening to get the sense that you didn’t feel this channel had value when it so clearly does. Your videos are super entertaining and I’ve learned so much about critical thinking and approaches to problem solving (not to mention woodworking, of which I knew nothing) from you. I’m so happy to see you haven’t given up on this channel and/or being a UA-camr because seeing new videos from you is a genuine highlight of my day. I don’t know where it comes from, but I hope you continue to find the desire and/or motivation to post new videos. Your continued interest means a lot to me, and I’m sure many other fans as well.
Nice video, nice game :)
Long time fan. Would love to see you make a chess set!
It'd be interesting to make these game pieces out of bass wood. The game play would change a decent amount with the lighter wood I imagine. When the weather gets nicer and I can set up my shop again, I'll be giving this one a try!
That would've been my first choice if I had access to it. Tulipwood would also be nice, but this video was for a general audience.
@@pocket83 That's understandable. You have to cater to your people sometimes I guess.
great for these quiet days
Nice
I solved your puzzle. It was fun
Perfect and awesome ! :-) Thanks. It is good to see you around :-)
Thank you ;)
Uh, dude... Where in the name of carpentry have you been all this time?!
ua-cam.com/channels/ZlSWjPEoVWaatAluWu3qWQ.html make you a favor and check this out
over on Pocket83^2
Those look like fun
welcome back!
missed your videos!
These videos being me peace
welcome back!!!
A piece at a time the key to a circle is. Deep Mr.Pocket... deep.
We've missed you, welcome back.
If you really want the red pill, a circle has an infinite number of sides. This is why π is called an 'irrational' number, which means that it can't be expressed as a fraction. Forever you can cut side lengths in half!
So glad you are back making videos.
I have a challenge for you that I can't wrap my head around. How would you make a wood solid of constant without using a CNC? No wood 3D printer as well ;-).
The tetrahedral/ball-based one? Ideas that spring to mind:
1) a router with a long straight bit that uses a rotating arc as a template for the surface, or
2) a lathe and a tetrahedron, again using an arc as a template.
Both would require complicated jigs. It would take some thought to simplify. Of course, lightning could strike one of us with a better idea. Let me know if you keep working on this.
I wonder if you've considered staining the set in different colors. If you did half, the sculpture could look more dynamic and you could see the history of tile placement. If you did a bunch of colors, then each game could look even more different. I could also allow people to build variants in the rules like the peace replacing can't touch any similar colors.
thank you for turning down the sound of your saw!
These look like the components inside a sprag clutch on a bicycle or helicopter rotor, seems like they interface in a similar manner too. Are the actual thingies called “sprags”? I dunno. Anyway, loved the cove technique, fascinating process for a seemingly simple piece.
"Well, why would I assume? I never assume, it leads to assumptions."
Can you quote who said this?
@@IrishAnonymous01 It was Jerry Seinfeld in an episode of... well Seinfeld. The Cigar Store Indian
They make special router bits for edges of desks that would knock away the corners very nicely. Or you could simply genetically modify a tree to grow into the right shape. You know, whichever is easier.
Did you try some in a heavier denser wood? I wonder how that would affect the game play.
Hmmm good choice of biscuits too.
The pretzel-shaped ones always go first.
@@pocket83squared That reminds me, I need to drink more tea!
I solved the puzzle, and i did not assume ;)
I spent far too long looking at and editing screenshots of this video.
Sorry. But it really is a valuable lesson ;)
I didn't edit the screenshot, I recreate the pieces with paper ;)
You've got clever thinkies Pocket.
You could allow players to reserve up to k pieces where k might be 2 or 3. Then each turn they have a choice of moves, place or reserve. With different densities of pieces they might reserve lighter pieces early to use at the end.
Or each turn might have 2 phases: Pickup to reservation station. Place from reservation station to pile. The reservation station would start populated with big standard pieces and one gap.
Watching this in 2021 and knowing that you just made a 50 dollar tabletop game out of that 2X4
Better than sewing supplies.
More pocket83 games! What have we done to deserve such gifts? 🥳
You sound sick
*sigh* math is beautiful :)
So like reverse Jenga?
Did you try putting more than 2 of them together in that gear type setup?
You could embed metal to make some heavier.
looks fun, but i dont have any of the tools required lol
lol indeed
@James Lintell-Smith i did indeed miss that lesson, but in any case i have neither desire nor patience enough to do it with what i have
You could drill through to make some lighter.
When slicing up the board into the individual game pieces, how come you always placed a space between the work piece and the stop block (as opposed to placing the stop block closer to the blade)? Also, don't assume that corner pieces must have flat edges.
When making a cut with just about any saw, there should (usually) be a stationary end and a free end to the work piece. This way, the cutoff has room to fall away rather than bind.
When you have a free piece that's rattling around tightly against the blade, it will quite often end in a little explosion as the piece gets caught.
Great question. Now stop spoiling the eggs 😠
welcome back 83
Been a couple years dude!!
How are you and Mrs. Pocket getting along these days?!?!
Still enjoying the new house?!?!
This looks fun as shit
A main channel video?
Wow, I guess there is a silver lining
Jenga 2.0?
I wonder if there is space on the mat to spiral all 32 pieces in from the edge, with every piece touching the ground and one other piece? 🤔
Damn i missed your vids
Also, I quickly made a CAD model from your sketch for 3D printing. With your permission, I would like to share it with people who do not have access to the tools or skill that you have.
Of course. Post a link here if you want, and I'll give it a heart so it's not considered spam.
Did you try other shapes?
Ok, so whos going to post a link to just buy a set of these? I dont have a table saw or the time, but the game looks incredibly fun and I could play it with my kids!
Jenga has a one hand rule (which everyone ignores). Should make this trickier.
Damn, is it easter again? or am i just assuming?
Do you have a interesting to try our new wooden puzzle? The difficultly is over your imagining .If so,I can send a piece to you for test.
Wait. But they're also ambiturner couches! (See moving sofa problem on the numberphile channel)
They're certainly close! Not too much of a surprise, considering what those are designed to do: they are optimized for continuous surface contact during a rotation, just like gears are.
I feel cut-cornered in a very meta way...
there was a japanese app called animal tower battle which is pretty much this online
Now that he can't go out he's doing more edited videos on his main channel again.
