    I totally agree starting with a hooklift truck. The trailer is very entry-level and you'll have buyer's remorse doing that. I bought my first new hooklift truck with $4,000 down, but you got to be able to make the payments. The best advice I ever got started in this business was you better have a lot of money cuz you're going to constantly need dumpsters. After 15 years that's the true statement of all you always need more dumpsters. Nobody finances dumpsters cash out of your pocket to buy them.

    So I have a 2020 GMC Sierra Denali 2500 Diesel. My buddy has a diesel truck. We both have full time jobs and are looking for an out but it'll be a couple years before we can leave. We just put an order in on a trailer with 3 roll off dumpsters to get us started and don't plan on taking a paycheck for a few years. Just want to keep the money in the business and let it grow. We plan on focusing on dumpster rental but just through networking we already have some hauling and junk removal jobs in the works. Pretty excited. I love your video's....keep the content coming. Was going to be my idea of a good retirement job but at 25 I'm thinking starting early and paying the truck and containers off by 35 be smarter. Happy to be here and learn.

    Diesel used 1999 Freightliner You can still buy a decent hook lift used. You are right when you say its going to be around the 40k mark in price but its worth it especially starting out with one truck .I have found the best way to get volume up out the blocks is getting a contract with a national track builder, and then focus on the single family homes/ businesses etc. Need to get that volume up to cash flow pay the bills.....keep the lights on. If you do that.....in regards to your point with insurance the National Track Builders are going to want 2MM &2MM! For insurance!!! And that a lot more money....so you need to get the volume up. Track Builders want to be hands off of any Liability .....you get hurt they want your insurance to handle it. You hurt someone else they want it on your insurance. You back into the house and knock it over.....your insurance. Just my thoughts on your comments. Hope I added something to it.

    So I do scrap metal removal I've been doing it for about 25 years. I own 2 trucks a 2013 F150 V8 gas. Which I use for mostly light stuff And running around because it gets better feel economy. My big truck is a 2013 F250 gas also It has a hydraulic lifgate Is on the back of it for picking up things that are really heavy.. And I also own 3 trailers at 24' flatbed and 2 flatbed in 26 and a 1/2 by 10' utility trailers with wood sides.. And I do a lot of house clean outs and I load the trailers but it's getting harder now as I get older to load and unload it would just be easier to dump them... So I just purchased a hook lift truck. And 10 containers to use for my personal scrap metal and pop and possibly renting them out.. Hopefully this brings an extra revenue when the scrap metal prices are low and in the Winter months..

The dealer did not want to offer any sort of help. Talk about a bump on the road. Anyway, had it fixed by my friend. I now have 3 dump trailers. I can't keep up with the calls sometimes. Super busy. I can get a DOT number, that’s free so why not. Problem I’m running into is what kind of insurance do you have to run your trucks commercially? Wondering what your thoughts are on gas vs diesel on a 550 with a hook on it? Fords new gas 7.3 seems pretty attractive and not sure how it stacks up to the 6.4 or 6.6. • @Subi_doo
      @Subi_doo 2 роки тому

      I would not go gas with a 550. It’s kind of redundant. Why get the bigger vehicle to tow more and then have it with a gas engine? Gas engine isn’t going to give you the high torque used for pulling like a diesel. they use the 7.3 in the smaller trucks too, but now your even heavier than a 250/350, still have the same power but now your chassis is more robust and heavier to handle more load so the gas engine is going to guzzle like no tomorrow. Hopefully they have a transmission that’s geared shorter but with more gears if you go gas. I’d go with the diesel. The added weight on The diesel isn’t going to effect it to much unlike a gasser.
