Faced one of these a couple nights ago in the Maine. It was great game, full 20 minutes, came down to their Henri needing to kill our Salem at the end. I mostly ignored the Henri, but would throw one turret at him now and then. It kept him at long range, which ended up being key by the end. Sometimes I would fire one turret in front and then the rest to the back, just to help keep him at max range. We won, and he didn't burn me down, so it's definitely a win in my book, lol.
Henri IV was the first Tier X I grinded when I joined the game. Needless to say I bit off more than I could chew. Starting to play WoWs with such a difficult line to play was definitely a challenge for the beginner I was ... And shortly after I (finally) bought Henri IV, it was nerfed into the ground, which made me quit the game for a while. I'm now a much better player than I used to. I played the rebuffed Henri IV in ranked and had a blast with it for the first time in YEARS (before the buff, playing it in Ranked was basically suicide). I now feel like my growth arc is complete ! Now I hope WG will buff some of the other cruisers : Hindenburg and Zao comes to mind. Out of all the Tier X tech tree ships, cruisers are regularly the worst performing in today's meta.
@@smh6926 that's because the shells are heavy AF. it's either super-heavy AP or HC high explosive. The short range and high shell arcs are to make you play around the caps so you can use the radar. Yes DM predates radar, but DM's radar was designed with its play style in mind.
Been waiting YEARS for this! Started as a hindy main, so you can see my foundation for loving henri! In the....4 years since(?), I've evolved thru years of dd main, to now n last year or so as light cruiser main so I'm not sure I'll ever go ALL the way back, but happy she's a viable option again! o7
I liked to play aggressive with this ship, on the flanks to intercept flanking DDs and cruisers. I also trolled Conquerors with it, rushing them as if I was an Italian DD. Minotaurs trying to angle against me was pure joy, I just loaded AP at their bows. To take a Hanri at long range, you've got to be more than one ship, one fires fore, one aft, so whatever choice the Henri does, he will take damage provided you aimed well. Of course a third ship to fire exacly where Henri sits to prevent him of staying stationary or catch it there is a bonus. No matter the cruiser that I play I'm always focused down by the red team because my BBs are so far away that I have no other choice to get closer and basically be on the front line... which makes light cruiser gameplay very frustrating.
I recently tried to meme a bit with moskva and just waltzing forward with just the manouvrability mods, range mod and then take the lighthouse setup on it. Yes i have a concealment of over 20km but i felt that battleships tunnelvisioned on you from max range and if u just shoot them back from absurd ranges you take no damage when played well from all bbs and you just farm them out. I have played like 2 to 3 games of it where people cursed at me in chat from not dying after 15 minutes of bb salvos and me just farming them from 20+km. Its also something similar to this.
I’m so happy this ship is back with the power creep in game these days. Been sitting on St Louis because I didn’t see Henri as being that strong but now I’ll finish the grind ! Such a sexy ship too

While I agree to some extent I think the game went the toxic route when they introduced the Conqueror. And when they added the Henri, it wasn't that meta defining until they put MBRB on it.
Spread out your volleys against Henri. Force him to accelerate, then you shoot more volleys. If you put all eggs in same basket as is normal against other ships, you will most of the time miss against a good Henri player.
When I'm dealing with ships that are speed juking I like to fire one or 2 turrets to get him to commit to his juke, then the other set while he's in the middle of his juke. Usually works to land a few shells on a Henri /Ragnar/etc and makes him reconsider
Honeslty, I don't know the legmod worth it over the rudder mod. It just makes a meme build to cross the line of complete madness. I feel really comfortable with the rudder mod and without any concealment skill. It reduces your rudder time to something like 5.2secs which makes it extremely frustrating for BBs shooting at you :D I do wish 305mm guns would have faster travel time and flatter arcs though. It feels weird to have this much floaty shells.
i did use to pick zao against henri in clan battles , decent fire rate from zao , you did outspot it and if you were not dumb to do salvo shots but one at a time you could make them hit breaks and shoot the rest of the guns
Funnily enough, the counter to Henri was another nerfed and abandoned cruiser... The Legendary Zao. Detection was under 10k. And it had superb rudder speed. So you could sneak in and take the Henris up close... Even easier if the Henri chased after you.
those acceleration stats dont take into account taking prop mod Also, the UU stat he gave was wrong you get 5% added range and 10% reload, maybe he saw this afterwards

The issue with henri and hence french cruisers was rightly demonstrated in the first game and also shown by flamu that you don't have battle impact. You rely on the damage output. Your utilities are not for a team play but rather focus on your own damage. So by the time your damage does impact the game you loose
New players don't know how far in the trenches we were early on. You'd have skills worth 5 points, every ship class pulling from the same skills tree, and lower skill point cap
i never played the original henri so my first experience with it was with the 60 sec so i played it now after the buff and my god its so much easier to speed juke
While the Henry is great at getting damage I never found it a ship to worry much about when it comes to actually winning the game. Now and then it would work out for the Henry, but that's true of any ship. It's a high damage, low impact sort of ship.
Lighthouse build means that u build everything into reload of main guns and dmg of main guns on either HE,AP or SAP and disregard concealment completely and also work into rudder or propulsion mod..this build works on long range cruisers like Venezia and Henri extremely well
It is a very fun and effective build but has high skill floor and needs a player to be cautious for the whole match in terms of getting shot at and positioning

These moronic devs haven't even brought out the potential improvement to the absolute toxic cancer that are CV's and they already unfix the healed HE cancer that was the Henri. At this point they should just unnerf the Smolensk and bring it back into the armory so that we can see 10vs10 HE cancer spamming + the 1 mandatory subcancer and the floating airport camper boy. They truly deserve every player that they lose. Unfortunately that only leaves us with people having the characters of kitten torturers...
Look it's toxic but heavily reliant on skill most players will not be able to make use of it's acceleration and speed.. smolensk is a whole other story it's a potato friendly ship having a million guns and very fast reload on the guns
Henri is a toxic ship and the last thing that the game needs. Hope they will nerf it again. It was a Stalingrad counter back in the day and it did its job well enough. But this long range spam is just fucking cancer. Just as annoying as a cv.

The Henri was put into the game to counter the Stalingrad meta. It was very apparent to anyone who played clan battles.
Henri released year and a half before Stalin and back then almost no one care about this line.
Nobody cared about the french CAs when they came out because they had no MBRB

Henri was pure poison to the gameplay. It's introduction was the first time I was deeply frustrated with the direction that the game was taking.
Yeah being able to free farm BBs and juke their every salvo with 30 seconds between made this one of the more toxic ships to fight against imo.

Henri was my first TX cruiser, I got her after the nerf, really looking forward to taking her out since this buff.
In the absence of of the unique upgrade, Gunfire mod2 and Steering Mod2 works pretty well too.
Thank goodness! We really needed a ship that can attack without being in any danger while doing so.
